The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the rescue of **15 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and six other kidnapped victims** from the Egume and Ochaja forests in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The NYSC members were kidnapped on **August 26, 2026**, while returning from the NYSC orientation camp.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, **Major General Michael Onoja**, disclosed the development during the monthly operational briefing in Abuja.
The Defence Headquarters also reported that, during the month under review, troops eliminated more than **300 terrorists**, arrested over **300 others** and rescued more than **600 kidnapped victims** across the country. The operations also led to the recovery of over **2,000 arms and ammunition** and the destruction of two illegal refining sites.
