Hello,
107 years ago today, Titanic struck an iceberg (or pack ice, according to new research). 2 h 40 min later on 15 April 1912, Titanic sank to the bottom of the Atlantic.
I've always had a passion about Titanic, probably the result of watching James Cameron's film at an early age (the irony of my grandparents being the ones to introduce me to the film is that they both hate it, and my nan literally eye rolls whenever I mention it) Or maybe it's because I grew up in Southampton. Whatever the case, it's such a tragic story of loss, and missed opportunities, whether you believe the conspiracy theories or not, that I think it strikes a cord with everyone who hears about it. It's so human.
So, I had to make some sort of tribute. I wasn't sure if I wanted to upload this today, for the anniversary of the initial hit, or tomorrow for the actual sinking. But, I got this finished in one sitting, such was my passion for this project (which is super rare), so here it is.
I would've focused more on the actual ship than on these fictional love stories, but I'm rubbish at that sort of editing, so here's this mismash monstrosity. Besides, despite the fact that there are probably more fictional characters in Titanic based media than were passengers on the actual ship, I think we all have a certain fondness for at least one couple (probably Jack/Rose for most people) in here, and they serve as a reminder of the real stories of love and loss from the disaster.

Firstly, I blame Eileen for inspiring me with her parts for our collab, and reminding me of how much I love these two, and how its a crime Ive never given them a video of their own. And also how much of a crime it is that cute, fluffy OC videos are so rare.
Secondly, as ever, Julia is a star, and puts up with way too much of my nonsense when it comes to vidding. I dont deserve you.

Onto the video, I guess...
Youve ~maybe~ seen this two lurking in the background of videos about my other OCs (Ellie and Finn) from this universe, but Ill give you a very brief rundown of whos who.
ᴋɪᴀɴ: Ellies adoptive brother. Kians parents were killed by a rival faction when he was very young. Like Finn, Kian is completely disenchanted with the world they live in and its ideals, and now rarely uses his magic (in fact, Finn is pretty convinced he no longer can). Even so, he works hard to make himself useful, finding a place amongst the computer workers, a role he was not born to which makes those who were born to it resent him for not using his magic and staying in his place [faceclaim: Thomas McDonnell].
ʟᴜᴄʏ: the daughter of the leader of the faction responsible for the deaths of Kians parents. She was almost killed by the grief magic that Kian released during the murder, and has a myriad of health problems as a result. After a chance meeting, she and Kian form a close bond, neither aware of the others identity, seeing the other as a way out of the world they both feel trapped within [faceclaim: Olivia Cooke].
In the video itself;
In which two adorable dumbasses pretend they arent falling for someone on the otherside of the war. Kians been shut off to the idea of a romantic connection since the death of his parents, and Lucys always been worried about falling for someone because shes convinced her poor health will get in the way.

This ones been...a process. Originally I wasnt going to make this. I made a video to this song only a few months ago, so it felt too soon. But, like I said to July (who is truly the best/worst impulse control in the world) its so perfect for these two that I ultimately couldnt resist the pull.
But, thinking the song is perfect and actually getting the editing done are two very different things. I just couldnt get it to look how I wanted, and so I pretty much gave up. But, I was determined to get ~something~ with these two done for todays OCtober prompt; lovers to enemies, because it is so them.
So here this is. Its not how I wanted it to look, but it could certainly have been worse. So I wont complain too much (and I managed to squeeze more Mahrya/Tyrant into this one, and even a cameo from Kiros!)
Massive thank you to Vale who has been so lovely and encouraging while Ive been moaning about my vidders block (its been so bad Ive genuinely debated quitting editing, because it didnt seem worth the stress). Youre an angel and a star! Thank you so much.
Just a quick overview of their story;
Mahyra is the daughter of Tryskias as yet unnamed uncles closest friend - read here: awful sycophant. Gahrik is the man assigned with guarding her from any threat to her life.
Gahrik has links to the rebellion (Kiros is his closest friend), and hopes that by encouraging Mahryas desire to gain more power and influence through her fathers connections, he can make a real difference to the future of their world.
However, even as their connection deepens, Mahryas influence grows, and they are both faced with impossible decisions that will shape their relationship forever.
This video doesnt tell their story in even remotely chronological order, and there are some parts that might only make sense to me, but eh. If you can pick up on any of the more spoiler-y/specific elements, Ill love you forever!
