“Conflicted” is the best way to describe what I was feeling prior to this China Eastern 777-300ER business class flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).

Two things were on my mind: first (obviously), the developing situation with the Coronavirus in China. Second (maybe even more obvious) was the mixed reviews I’ve heard about this airline. Some have said it’s the worst ever. Others said it’s one of the best. Which is it?!

I love finding answers to these questions myself, so I didn’t hesitate for a second to step onboard this airplane. Conflicted or not…I was still very much excited to try it for myself.

This is footage from China Eastern flight number 586, which ended up being a very pleasant 14.5 hour flight. I was seated in 16A, and the aircraft registration was B-7343.
