I did NOT expect to say this... but Ret Paladin in WoW 12.1 is looking genuinely exciting.
The latest 12.1 PTR changes bring some massive improvements to Retribution Paladin, with a redesigned tier set, stronger Divine Purpose interactions, better Divine Storm gameplay and a much smoother overall rotation. For the first time in a while, Ret feels like it's rewarding you for pressing the right buttons instead of simply waiting for cooldowns.

The biggest surprise isn't necessarily that Retribution Paladin is getting buffed, it's how Blizzard chose to do it.
Instead of simply increasing numbers, many of these 12.1 changes make the spec flow better, create more satisfying proc chains and make cooldown windows feel much more rewarding. That's exactly the type of class tuning many Ret players have been asking for.
Of course, not everything is perfect, and there's still room for improvement before the patch goes live, but if you've been waiting for a reason to dust off your Paladin, 12.1 PTR might finally be it.
🎮 Overall, this is one of the most promising Paladin changes we've seen in a long time, and I'm genuinely excited to see where Blizzard takes Retribution Paladin before the full release of WoW 12.1.
