Guardian isn't simply receiving number tweaks this patch. Blizzard is fundamentally changing how the spec plays.
The old Lunar Beam-focused gameplay that made Elune's Chosen so dominant is taking a significant hit, while the redesigned Apex talents aim to create a much more active and engaging rotation. On paper, the gameplay is becoming more interesting, but those improvements come at the cost of some of the raw power that pushed Bear Druid to the top of the Mythic+ tank meta.
We'll also dive into the new tier set, discuss why Gory Fur might become far more relevant than it has been all expansion, and look at whether Wild Guardian and the new physical damage synergies are enough to offset the substantial nerfs to Lunar Beam uptime.
Overall, I genuinely think Guardian is becoming a more enjoyable tank to play. The problem is that being more fun doesn't necessarily mean being more competitive, and that's exactly what makes these PTR changes so interesting heading into WoW 12.1.
