If there's one spec Blizzard shouldn't reinvent in WoW 12.1, it's Frost Mage. After spending time on the 12.1 PTR, I still think Frost is one of the biggest success stories of the Midnight expansion. The gameplay remains smooth, easy to pick up, rewarding to master, and the new Season 2 Tier Set finally puts more emphasis on Glacial Spike, one of the most iconic abilities the spec has ever had. The only problem?
I don't think Blizzard is pushing it far enough.

One of the things I love most about Frost Mage is that Blizzard didn't feel the need to completely redesign it for another season. The core gameplay remains familiar, satisfying and incredibly polished. Instead of reinventing the spec, the focus has been on expanding the Glacial Spike playstyle through the new Tier Set and keeping the rotation feeling fluid.
That said, I think Blizzard is still being a little too conservative.
Glacial Spike should feel like the massive finishing spell it's always been meant to be, and while the new mechanics are fun, I'd love to see the ability have even more impact in both Mythic+ and raid encounters. Frost is already in a fantastic place, it's just one or two changes away from feeling truly complete.
