A lot of who Shizune is, and what she does to others, can be explained by her competitive streak, I think. It's a shame not everybody is up to a state of constant low-level emotional/social warfare.
I say it like that, but it seems like already, she's provoking an interesting change in Hisao's own character. The mopey bits of his thoughts are receding quickly, and being replaced with this competition thing.
It's like he's waking up to life, in a sense. Bit by bit. I get the impression that was intentional in a sense; is it possible Shizune pushed us so much in order to get us to push back, because that meant we were reacting rather than just taking it or sliding along on our life without caring or getting fired up?
I guess we'll see.

Cant handle it anymore. Something about the new update, the mix of old reliable strategies being nerfed, these enemy types like the slime and the swarm, the sense of Pressure and whatnot... Im actually like, being paralyzed by sheer nerves.
Thats probably praise for the game, but it makes it a lot more rough to try and actually play it. Id honestly rather watch and enjoy other people doing this stuff.
Many thanks to the devs for sending me this, when I was just hoping to do it myself, but I just. Everyones different, weve all got our own Things.

Im trying, guys. Really, Im trying. But it feels like every time I get buckled down, something... extra special happens. Ive almost never had a game that Ive loved so much, but actually playing it put that to the test.
The music, art design, characters, I like basically everything about the game (aside from it being way too on-the-nose about basically everything) except, you know. The combat. Its innovative, but I suspect there may be actual reasons why not every strategy game is jumping to add twitch-reflex skill challenges to their content.

I think we just had something approximating a Moment. Huh? No, not with Shizune, why would you think that, what, just because were on her route? Pfft. Actually, we have a nice Moment or two with her, as well, but That scene happens in this episode. The one with Kenji.
Misha returns, and she was missed. Things are already starting to get just the tiniest bit awkward with, like, the three of us. Its nothing too overt now, its just a thing even the characters have started to acknowledge. I hope it doesnt lead to a rift or anything, I want to be friends with both of them.
Tanabatas coming up, and we can apparently look forward to some girls-in-yukata, so hey. Everythings coming up Hisao so far.

If I cant force myself to load one game, then its time for a new one! I started this run as the Morrigi literally yesterday, and figured hey. Why not record myself having actual fun?
The beautiful, and terrifying, thing about Sword of the Stars, the reason its hard to say things definitively about this game, is that you are so in control of the experience. Each race plays differently, and just mixing and matching different ones on different teams produces entirely new games. Maps can be nearly any comprehensible shape. Difficulty options and sliding scales are right here for you.
So you can have a breezy, easy game, a thrilling competitive bout, or a frustrating grind, and its on you. The game is looking to you to tune itself. When you get the frequency right, though, theres few better strategic experiences.
