Many mega churches and organizations such as Hillsong teach and insist that they are entitled to ten percent of their congregations income. Every person in their church is instructed to tithe from their income. But its not biblical. People are brought up in church from a very young age believing that they have to tithe. But should Christians tithe? Well, strictly speaking it is impossible for us to tithe today the way that God commanded Israel to tithe because tithes were given to the Levites and tithes could only ever be farm produce from the land of Israel. It always frustrates me when people like Dave Ramsey claim that God will bless you if you tithe to your local church. There were no local church buildings in the New Testament. People like Joel Osteen and Stevan Furtick did not exist. There were no mega church pastors with millions and millions of dollars and there were no mega churches. There were no church buildings at all. People like Micahel Todd, Robert Morris, Creflo Dollar and other false teachers make millions of dollars deceiving simple people into thinking that they need to tithe from their income. These false teachers need to get a good dose of the bible and they need to get saved.
