All amateur models can get a bit intimidated by a photo shoot. Here are 10 tips and tricks on how to pose for photographers
1 Realize that the photographer is working hard to get along with you and make the magic happen. They are as nervous as you are. Also, realize that it is their responsibility to make the magic happen as much as it is yours. Therefore, rest at ease in the fact that you are both there to make nice images
2 Leave your "you" at home. Make no mistake. Expect to play a role. You must understand that you become someone else.
3 Always remember that all poses need to communicate either an emotion, intention, or a purpose.
The facts about posing
4 The static pose. This is the pose that many models limit themselves to. It is often because people who have not been in the industry think that it is the only pose one should do. But there is where the problem lies. Do not limit yourself to just staying static.
Although you must know that these poses are useful, they are also not the only ones. Many inexperienced models arrive on set and just do the static poses no knowing that the photographer needs just a fraction of a second of your light to get the shot.
Learn the classic poses pose. These are the poses that have been there since the beginning of fashion. The paramount, the attitude, the introspective poses. Learn them and know them. They are your toolbox.
5 The action pose. These are poses where you move so that the photographer can pick the aspect of motion that is desirable. Action poses take advantage of your in born physical memory to communicate a emotion, intention, and a purpose. When you have a more relaxed view to these poses, the results can be amazing
6 Associate an attitute to a pose: Remember that since the day you were born you have been using your body and face to convey emotion, intention, and purpose. It is surprising how much more effective a pose is if you just say a couple of phrases associated to a pose in your head to communicate that through your face and body.
7 Your body is sculpture practice in front of a mirror. To know what types of poses are effective, do not hesitate to look at the panoply of resources you have to research poses
8 Immitate and practice. Look at shots you find great and try to immitate those shots in front of a mirror. At the same time, try to innovate
9 Trust the photographer
10 Look in the visor. Don't be shy to ask to take a look
