Hidden behind a freshly bricked wall, I find a strange office belonging to some scientist. There are plenty of notes documenting the nature of his research, and a farewell message from some poor soul whose life was recently claimed. Red was here as well, indicated by his newest radio contact.

As the plot thickens, more questions begin to surface: what else was going on down here? Clearly there was more than just a mining operation and some worm research; what of this strange artefact that we have heard of several times?

ABOUT THE GAME:

Penumbra: Overture (2007), by Frictional Games, is the first chapter of a survival horror series that preceded the more well-known game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It features much of the same elements - a dynamic physics engine, gameplay that emphasizes puzzle-solving, and instilling psychological horror based on an inability to fight back against the game's monsters.

The story begins when our character, Philip, receives a mysterious letter from the father he never knew shortly after his mother's funeral. A series of clues leads Philip to an isolated part of Northern Greenland, where he begins searching for answers.
