Civil Disturbia | 10 million year old whale skeleton found in Crimea @CivilDistribution | Uploaded August 2018 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
Paleontologists have made a fascinating discovery as they were examining the construction site for the Crimean Bridge. They found a ten-million-year old fossil belonging to an extinct whale. The fossil is believed to be a si-to-serium which is an extinct type of baleen whale. The mammal was about five meters in length and lived in the ancient Sar-maat Sea which stretched across a large part of modern-day Eastern Europe. Even though the fossil lacks a skull, the whole spine is intact. The construction site for the bridge has been shut down until scientists finish surveying the area.
