I will admit, the solar system looks a little brighter given what happened, and exactly who it happened to, in the last episode. Our mission is a universal Federation, and wiping out anybody doesn't serve that goal...
But sometimes it makes things just, a lot less complicated and deadly.
Now to see if the remaining races can be more reasonable in the wake of this incident, or if they'll turtle up even harder. I think I know of one race that's going to do that regardless.

Shaped Hyperwarp engines are going to change the game for our empire. Standard warp drives crawled across the stars at half the rate Humans started out at; now, we match their baseline tech. Even with node focusing, theres only one or two LY faster than us, and we arent constrained by the bothersome nodes.
That not-being-constrained may turn ugly if the Zuul have time to bring Node Cannons to bear on us, but hopefully we can form a new refit fleet group, and hit the enemy before they can muster any such threat.
Weve no evidence, even at this late stage, they even mount full cruiser fleets. Im sure when we assault their dens of evil, well find a few surprises.")

Though things in this burgeoning AI war may not quite go according to our expectations...

We get caught up for ten minutes admiring how poorly our hostile Liir AI has handled, uh, everything. I genuinely dont think they managed a single portion of their empire with basic competency.
I cant even say they maxed out trade. Theyre still on destroyer freighters, a hundred and fifty years into the game.
Genuinely tempted to try and make a go of it. I think in a world where Im leading the Infinite Empire against AI, its already decided at this point. But if I was directing the Black Swimmers, they havent tipped past the point of inevitably losing yet. I would enjoy testing that. I honestly dont know how effectively the Normal AI would employ those beautiful fleets of Voidcutters.
Having used this configuration extensively in several full runs, I do have a few ideas of how Id go after them.
