Product Manager’s Note:
The wrinkling at 2:19 is because the gel coat was too thin. When applying the gel coat, it is recommended to apply at 0.020" thick (4 layers at 0.005" thickness). If you don't want it to be that thick, it is recommended you apply at least two layers to get 0.010" thickness. If it is too thin, it will not withstand the heat of the resin during the process. Molds are typically made with tooling gel coat which is much thicker than standard gel coat and it polishes very well.
If you decide to use the tooling gel coat, it is applied 3 layers at 0.007-0.008" (7-8mils) thick- about as thick as a black construction trash bag.
