In the last four videos, we built the tenoning jig step by step. We:
* Created a sliding track,
* Connected it to the miter slot,
* Built the fence,
* And added a stop block system.
Now, let’s put it to work.
I’ll start by cutting the shoulders. To find the width, I’ll place part of the joint I intend to cut between the fence and the blade.
Next, I’ll set a marking gauge on my cut to position the blade for the cheeks. I’ll raise the blade to match the stock’s thickness, clamp my board to the fence, and move the jig until the blade lines up with my mark. Then, I’ll set my first stop at the front.
I’ll adjust the second stop for the opposite side of the tenon. With both stops set, I can make the first cut, slide the jig back to the initial stop, and make the second cut.
To make the open mortise, I’ll move back to my stop system and use a strip of wood that’s the thickness of my blade. I can use this to adjust for the inside cut on both stops by unlocking the cradle and sliding it between the nail and each stop, and then moving the stop to the nail.
