At the moment I believe that low efficiency is because the impedance of transformer is lower then impedance of motor or the impedance that needs to be matched. It's not clear what impedances need to be matched but this experiment prooves that looking at efficiency graph:

When load impedance is lower then source impedance the efficiency is lower. When they are both the same then we have 50%. When the load impedance is much higher efficiency goes to max.
Keep in mind that this is my personal interpretation and could be different from reality, I'm only learning myself.
Efficiency results when calculated from red amp meter = 37% & 36%
Calculated from current meter on power supply 34%, but only the red amp meter measured both values with same meter, so I trust more on that then from power supply and comparing that with other meter.
Please do not forget that this is whitout taking batterie charging into account and only 1 negative series impedance & no resonance.
