...backed up a bit by the modeled T vs Alt near Mugu, see Community page
Light hitting your eyes at a lower angle than actual IMO.
The lower parts compressed and drowned out by the sea....

First part of so called upward refraction.....light goes toward the surface and enters the eye at a lower angle....effectively lowering the whole scene in general. Not all of the light is reflected back upward. Simple. Pesky Ridge still Pesky Strong Inferior Mirage.... Maybe influenced by the warmer water and lighter breeze? Boats are the Double Dolphin catamaran sailboat (buddy helped build it for a summer job in the 1980s) and the Azure Seas...a 60 ft tourist booze cruise special yacht, both out of Santa Barbara Harbor. ...$
