WARM EYE FOR SUMMER Nikki DeRoest 2019-07-09 | I think the thing I love the most about my eyeshadow palettes are how easy and quick they are to use. That (selfishly for myself) is why I created them and what a big part of the inspiration was for me. Working so closely with so many amazing women, but also hearing all the feedback I get from social media constantly influences and inspires me as I continue to make products for RÓEN. This is just a quick video showing how I use the 75º Palette on any given day…. which is usually a swipe on my eyelids with my fingers, and then a blend with my Everything Eye Brush. Did you know that I specifically made this brush for the palettes? Nikki shops Walmart Beauty: ONLINE BEAUTY HAUL for my artistry kit (and a few goodies for myself...) Making WAVES with a FLAT IRON Nikki DeRoest 2018-11-24 | In predictable Aries form, I recently decided I needed to cut my hair. And within an hour I was in my bathroom, scissors in hand, chopping away at it. I decided it was too long, and felt a little bit too “undone” for my mood, so wanted to bring up the length. (I was proud of myself for at least considering it for an hour before making the move with the scissors.) Before you get too concerned with me doing an at home haircut, remember I used to work in a salon for about 10 years, so doing it myself is usually much easier than having someone else do it. I know what I want, and purposely wanted it to feel quite blunt, one length, and without any layers or texture put into it. I knew I would be creating texture with the way I would style it. Cut to this tutorial you are about to watch with how to make waves using a flat iron!Using a flat iron creates waves that look the most like a natural wave. I have very smooth, straight hair, so I need to use the flat iron to make it look like I have “I just woke up like this” wavy hair. If you have naturally frizzy or textured hair, using this technique is also amazing for smoothing out the hair while creating the wavy texture. As you will watch in the video the technique is pretty simple. It just takes some practice with your wrist movements. I used a wireless flat iron in this video, but I also love and use the Babyliss Pro and GHD flat irons. I would suggest not using a flat iron with plates bigger than 1”, as it doesn’t make as much of a bend and you don’t get the same result as you do with a smaller plated flat iron. Depending on the health of your hair, will depend on the temperature you should use for the heat settings. I do think you can have it turned up a little higher because you are constantly moving the flat iron and never holding it on the hair. I hope this video gives you new inspo and a new technique that you can try….it’s been really fun switching it up!

Current Hair Go-Tos and Products Curling Iron Waves: SUMMER Edition Nikki DeRoest 2018-08-16 | I don't know about you, but the summer heat has had me pulling my hair back a lot! Los Angeles is not always well equipped for such high temperatures. I know that my 1929 Spanish apartment certainly feels the heat, and my little wall A/C units don't always cut it.I just recently re-discovered my smaller sized curing iron that I have not used or thought about in a hot minute. What it taught me was that even with longer hair, you can still use a smaller curling iron which keeps your waves lasting longer.What it gives you are more days with your waves, even in the hot, humid temperatures. The problem I was running into recently is that my hair was falling out or falling flat too quickly, so starting with a smaller barrel size has really fixed that issue for me.You'll get an extra day out of your hair, or perhaps depending on your humidity level where you are just back to normal hair (as if you were using a slightly bigger barrel). Feeling BLUE? Nikki DeRoest 2018-04-20 | COLOR.....why not?!Here in this look I used a long wear gel eyeliner from Kiko, but any blue will do! Marc Beauty, L'oreal, and Lancome all have amazing blues that I've come across personally.If you notice in this video, I wanted to show you different versions of the eyeliner, so you could see different effects. You could go all the way around top and bottom, or just line the lower lash line. I like all versions, it's just a matter of style or mood. In going around top and bottom, I wanted to give myself an "Egyptian" shaped eye, like Cleopatra. I used a tiny brush to blend it in and make the shape perfect.I think it's important when playing with such bright colors to keep it easy on all the other parts of your makeup so it's not competing with the eye. I opted for clean, natural looking skin (a little glossy since I don't powder), with just an enhanced version of my natural lip color for fullness. EVERYDAY WAVES: 10 MIN HAIRSTYLING! Nikki DeRoest 2018-02-26 | I haven't posted a hair video in a minute, so thought I would show you guys an updated routine of how I've been styling my hair...I have been playing around with bigger curling irons lately and have been really happy with the results. My hair feels a little more relaxed and much more lived in.As mentioned in the video, I do have a naturally straight texture so my process of styling might be a little different from those that have naturally a lot of frizz or curl. If you do have a lot of frizz or curl you may let your hair air dry with smoothing products and oils, relax your curls a bit, and then follow the same curling iron technique.Here I'm using a Babyliss Pro Curling iron that is 1"3/4 in size. A half an inch bigger than what I've used in the past! When you use a bigger curling iron it also allows you to take bigger sections, which is a big win in my books!I washed my hair with DP HUE ACV Rinse, and finished with DP HUE Dry Shampoo and SACHAJUAN styling cream. 10 minutes, easy does it, and you have perfectly undone waves for the day! Since I knew I was going to be on the road for so long between both cities, I wanted to make sure that I felt at home with all of my usual products and routines.As you know, skincare has become a true priority and obsession of mine, and come to find out, also is a major priority for most people that follow me as well.I've just accepted the fact that I pack a lot. This is a different style video for me because literally there is no natural light, and its a bit on the fly, but the point is to show you my little in hotel room facial, and all of the skincare I packed and how and why. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!Some MUA tips for this video:I like to put pigment onto my eyelids with my fingers, and blend with dry brushes.For eyeshadow underneath my eyes I do like to use a brush, but I always make sure the brush is thicker so that it give a softer, lived in look.Blend the eyeshadows higher up, almost to the brow bone. Nod to the late 80's, early 90's is back.I didn't contour with this. You certainly can, but I liked the fresh pop of pink on the cheeks.No eyeliner is needed, the eyeshadow does all the talking.Keep the skin simple and clean.Have fun!You don't normally see me rocking these colors, but doing these videos for you guys always challenges me to step out of my comfort zone, and with that I have created new looks that I will actually wear and add into my rotation. EASY-CHIC UPDO (DIRTY HAIR) Nikki DeRoest 2017-12-18 | Some of the best hairstyles happen when you aren't trying.More times than not, I'm pushing it with my hair. Meaning I probably have been to the gym 2-3 times before I wash it. Depending on what day or how many times I've worked out since my last washing determines what happens with my hair. My tried and true is my two bobby pin trick. Don't think, grab your hair, and throw it up (just like you do when you are at home cleaning the house or doing your makeup). Usually when you don't care and you're not trying, the cuter your hair looks. I say this is a two bobby pin trick because it doesn't take much to hold your hair up when you twist it like I did in this video: it kind of contains itself. BUT that doesn't mean you only have to use two bobby pins. If you need 10, no judgment use however many you need to hold your hair.I have been playing with metallic bobby pins and cute hair accessories, and think its a fun way to shine up a simple little twist or bun.PERFECT IS OVERRATED! They are an 8-hour, liquid matte lipstick that’s specifically formulated to be comfortable and not dry out your lips. I tested all 12 colors, and they do not budge without some elbow grease. They are super opaque so you can draw your lips huge like I did, and you can get a lot of color payoff with one swipe as you will see in this video. PUR GLITTER EYE MAKEUP: HOLIDAY PARTY INSPIRATION! Nikki DeRoest 2017-11-22 | The glitz and the glam........the Holiday's are here! I wanted to leave you some inspo for quick, easy holiday eye looks. I recently got a package in the mail from Pur Cosmetics, and these glitter eyeshadows stood out of the bunch. It could be my forever obsession with glitter that started from a very young age that I've never gotten rid of.... What can I say?What I like about these looks are that they are SO EASY. You know me by now, I don't want to complicate things......I just don't have time for that, and I'm sure you don't either! I did want to do something that stands out, and I think these glitter eye looks do just the trick!Honestly it was another Nikki Method, which involves using my fingers to blur and blend it all in. You are welcome to use brushes, but I think the fingertips help push the glitter around, and we want this look to be diffused at the edges. I don't know if brushes have the power to move the glitter around like fingertips do. Also side note: the glitter dries down, so you want to start moving and blending it before it dries, so do that immediately.As you can see, the glitter starts from day and moves into night, but you can wear any of these colors day or night....it's all up to you! In that first video I showed how to create a really cool, simple daytime CATEYE using PURPLE instead of the traditional black, brown, or grey. Now I want to show you how to quickly and easily take the daytime look and add a little more shadow and liner for night. Seriously SO easy, but the drama and sexiness is there! I love it. QUICK AND EASY WAVY HAIR: MID LENGTH Nikki DeRoest 2016-11-20 | Hey friends! I just wanted to quickly show you how I've been curling my hair lately. As usual, I try to do it in the quickest and most efficient way possible.....because who likes to spend too much time getting ready? I know I don't!I've found that if you have short to mid length hair, using a curling iron that is an inch and a quarter works really well. If you use too big of a curling iron, you actually don't get the bend that you want in your hair. My top favorite brands for curling irons are Hot Tools, Babyliss Pro, and GHD.
