Campbell BlockAfter 3 months of hard work, it's finally here - the complete Coconut Mall theme from Mario kart Wii made with Minecraft note blocks. Originally composed for Nintendo by Asuka Ota and Ryo Nagamatsu, I arranged nearly two kilometers of it with a personalized touch to the end of the second loop.
The biggest delay was finding a decent recording software, and this is the one I'll be using for a while. I don't exactly do song requests, but I will take every comment into consideration for future videos. The next one I'm planning is "Masked Dedede" (Kirby Super Star Ultra).

Back so soon huh? I really liked making the other one so I decided to make this right afterwards. Säkkijärven Polkka is just a tune I really like, and I don't think anyone else has done it. I am considering making both of the recent uploads into note block videos sometime in the future.
The end of the video is just a little reference to the lyrics at that point in the song which state "We may have lost Säkkijärvi, but we still have the polka", describing the loss of territory during Finland's 1940 Winter War with the USSR.

It’s time again for the yearly upload. I know it’s not a Minecraft note block video, but I picked up this game recently and liked making music with the composer island feature too. It’s been tough to make content to upload as I have been busy with my senior year of high school, but I do plan on making a few more videos this spring and summer.
I’ve seen other recreations of the plant island theme on composer island before, but they never got all the parts down very well, so I tried my shot at it. I had actually done the same thing when I played the game several years ago, but I lost the account so I decided to make it again.
This uses the original arrangement of the song before the second verse was added because composer island only lets you use 512 note lengths, or 64 measures of 4/4 with eighth notes which happens to be exactly enough for the original version. I obviously chose not to include the Wubboxes, Shugabush, or Punkleton parts because there are not any good instruments to recreate them. I may upload another video in the future to include the Werdo parts, but I would have to change the arrangement a little and leave out the second verse.

Recent activity has waned because of more focus on school, increased interest in the Mario Kart Wii TASing community (see second channel Campbell Mop), and thus somewhat decreased involvement in Minecraft. Making these videos depends entirely on whether I have the motivation and time to do them, so just because I haven't uploaded in a while doesn't mean I won't.
Frames are choppy as usual because computer bad and can't do good quality + good framerate + 20 tps gameplay at the same time. I may look into getting a recording partner for future videos.
This piece was relatively easy to make with easily discernible parts and no incompatible tempo or rhythms. I transposed it from C to B in order to fit the 5th in the higher octave. Took me only 3 days to make.

It's that time of year again, and I have not been making note block videos as much recently so I decided why not. You may notice that it's a little faster than the original song, and that's because triplet rhythms are not possible at 150 bpm but are possible at 200 bpm with Minecraft timings. This is actually a much easier song to recreate than some of my other videos, so it only took a few weekends to finish this. Fun fact: the piano bit near the end of the song is a neat reference to Chopin's Funeral March.

This only took me about two days to complete since all of the instruments, ranges, rhythms, and tempo fit very well for note blocks. One new technique I wanted to try out is spacing an instrument far out to have a softer sound since the snare instrument is very loud, and I think it worked pretty well. Not much else to say about this.

This is the physically longest theme I've made yet, being 3622 blocks, or 3.6 kilometers long in total. One thing that's funny to think about is that this is potentially the most accurate documentation of the theme on the internet. I looked up several arrangements of it, and none were very accurate in the harmony and chord outlines. I spent hours closely listening to the theme to transcribe parts as accurately as possible. I do leave out a few parts, namely some of the timpani and most of the choir, because they just didn't fit well with what I could work with.

A big difficulty making this was compensating for the range of the music. Minecraft note blocks can only span 2 octaves of F#, and I ended up transposing it from C minor to B minor to fit certain notes in. This arrangement uses a combination of features from the Kirby Super Star Ultra theme and a more popular remix that appeared in Kirby Triple Deluxe. The main difference in these two versions of the theme is the sound quality (Super Star Ultra being on the Nintendo DS, and Triple Deluxe being on the higher quality Nintendo 3DS), but there are also some smaller differences in stylistic details, namely the instruments featured and percussion. I chose to use most of Triple Deluxe details in the moments where they differed.

This is a simple NES theme, so it was relatively easy to recreate on note blocks. I do plan to make a much better version of this at a later date (from the Super Smash Bros Ultimate remix), but I wanted to put this video out for now. Next video will be Masked Dedede theme.

This composition was greatly inspired by Tom Brier's performance way back in 2008 and I just couldn't get it out of my head. After a while of just listening to it, I decided to learn the music and I made this.

Originally composed by Asuka Ota and Ryo Nagamatsu and arranged by moi. This is a work in progress. I try to make this arrangement as accurate as possible, but there are many things done to compensate for the maximum speed of 20 notes/second, the availability of instruments, and the differences in volume.
NOTICE: I completed the theme a few months later and check out the completed video here youtu.be/zcC6x6RsPr8
