Advertised to potential buyers as an “all-electric community powered by the sun,” Canada’s Electric Vehicle Enclave Park (or EVE Park) in London, Ontario is a net-zero residential project aimed squarely at the EV enthusiast.
True to its name, the development offers electric vehicle charging and a car-share program for residents. Rather than driveways or a ground-level parking lot, each of the condo buildings contains an automated “smart” parking tower that stores vehicles vertically, freeing up space for gardens and landscaping.
Designed for developer s2e Technologies by US architecture firm Gensler, the four circular residential structures can accommodate a combined 84 households. They are positioned and orientated to maximize sun exposure for the mass of solar panels that feed into the community’s “micro-grid.”

Pre-owned car sales in Canada accounted for 57% of the total sold in 2022, and increased to 60% in 2023? This rising trend points to the fact that Canadian consumers are looking increasingly at preowned/used cars as affordable alternatives to more expensive new vehicles.
For this episode of Canada Talks Electric Cars, we've invited a panel of three terrific guests to join us. Each of them runs a dealership specializing in the used electric vehicle space.
Listen in as these three experts discuss the important differences and the similarities between buying an electric vs. internal combustion engine vehicle.

Recently, we've noticed a growing number of misleading and inaccurate stories about electric vehicles circulating in print and on social media.
EVs are also becoming increasingly politicized, which could slow their adoption and cause Canadian consumers to miss out on the cost-saving, emission-cutting benefits they provide. This episode tackles some of the most prevalent EV-related myths circulating in social and mainstream media today, offering evidence-based perspectives on topics such as EV-related electrical grid impacts, lifecycle emissions, cold weather performance and battery recycling.
Joanna Kyriazis, Director of Public Affairs for Clean Energy Canada returns to our webinar to address this important subject. Joanna works to develop and advance policy solutions that address climate change while promoting clean growth. Based in Ottawa, she regularly connects with thought leaders, industry stakeholders, and policymakers at the federal level.

Hydrogen and its viability in transportation as well as other sustainable energy applications, continues to be topic of debate. While the debate continues, vast sums of money, mostly tax dollars, are being provided to fund hydrogen projects here in Canada and around the world. Hydrogen proponents tout the fact that it burns without producing any Co2 or pollution and is the most abundant element in the universe. Its detractors point out that hydrogen does not exist in a pure state and must first be extracted from its source and converted to a usable form. Costs and inefficiencies surrounding this extraction process are among the reasons hydrogen has yet to play any significant role in sustainable transportation.

It was fascinating to compare KMPG's poll to a live straw poll of the 140 people attending the live broadcast. KPMG asked mostly non-ev owners what they perceived were the biggest barriers to ev adoption. We asked the same question of the largely ev owning attendees. The differing views are striking and provide further proof that more consumer education is needed!
