I also often find that technology and music notation makes us put everything into neat little boxes because that’s the template we’re given as composers. There are very subtle hesitations of time stopping for the slightest of moments in Tachypsychia, which is where the track title is derived from. These sketches were recorded as voice memos on my phone, which I always place beside me on the piano stool as a way of jotting down ideas. I usually listen back to the recordings the following day with fresh ears when walking along the Merri Creek – a beautiful trail not far from where I live in Melbourne, Australia. There are two pianos used on this album; an upright piano in my lounge room in Clifton Hill and the same grand piano used on this channel at my music school in Malvern.These recordings weren’t originally intended for public consumption, but I thought given the current circumstances, it might be an appropriate time to throw you all a line and release some contemplative and raw original music to help you deal with whatever you might be experiencing right now.Listening to these tracks helps calm me down (especially recently) and I hope they have the same effect for you.
