I am absolutely delighted I got to experience a train so classic it was listed as a historic experience back in my 1980s rail annuals I read as a young boy. There is SO MUCH MORE to come in Part 2, including the unbelievably perfect Rocky Mountain scenery as well as more details about the logistics of travelling on The Canadian. I should know; I weaned myself onto flying solo with Ryanair! What irks me is when a budget airline is a sub brand of a full service airline, which decided to pull its full service from the route, substitute it with the cheap nasty budget carrier, and kept the fares the same. This is not a good product, and that's even after I lucked out by taking the (unusual) A330 on this route, normally reserved for longer trips. How United Airlines threw away a 10/10 review. Wingin’ It! And that's great. United were so close to getting full marks on this review so it was so FRUSTRATING to see the tail end of deep cost-cutting and product laziness in the food. This was the worst business class food I've had across the Atlantic for some time and definitely below what their competitors were offering. So while the rest of the experience (including their good management of a delay) was superb....sorry but you can't have a 10 on this one guys! Good news though, the food is being fixed as a priority and I was very impressed with everything else.
