I didnt like Berserk (and thats fine) lines in motion 2023-03-09 | Berserk had been on my to read list for years. I'd had friends pushing it on me. You guys begging I cover it. And Waterstones continuously pushing the cover in my face everyone I went to buy manga. And last year I'd made it a goal to finally spend my time reading the famous behemoth of a manga. And I did! I read a whole whopping 94 chapters, finishing up the Golden Age Arc. It was definitely worth reading, if not just to try and experience what everyone supposedly has, but... For the life of me, I couldn't fully immerse myself into the manga.I didn't like Berserk, but I also didn't dislike Berserk. And that is where this video's topic originated. Delicious in Dungeon - Fundamentals of Character Design lines in motion 2023-01-28 | Delicious in Dungeon (otherwise known as Dungeon Meshi) is my favourite manga. Of all time. There's a reason the series was the first piece of media you saw on the channel, and it's because i'm so in love with the world Ryoko Kui has created.Character design has been talked about among the manga community. But i've never felt it's really delved into the how and why's of what makes character design just so important to creative storytelling and allowing it to really develop the world you're creating.Without Ryoko Kui's varied approach and research towards character design, Dungeon Meshi simply wouldn't be the amazing story it is today. The IMPORTANCE of Heartstopper lines in motion 2022-06-15 | Since it's release on Netflix, Heartstopper has taken the internet by storm. I've always wanted to do a video on Heartstopper. As someone who has been reading the story prior to the live adaptation for years now, doing a video on the story was always a given for me. ARCANE - Environmental Storytelling lines in motion 2022-03-24 | Arcane is one of the most beautiful, well-crafted and thought-provoking series I've seen in a while. Not just in animation. But as a series in and of itself. I could make thousands of videos surrounding this series, but I've yet to see massive discussion on the way the creatives at Fortiche so perfectly drove the narrative within a development of careful decisions regarding Arcane's environment. Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy - A Slow Burn Relationship in the Making lines in motion 2021-12-09 | The famous Harleen Quinzel and Pamela Isley are notoriously two of the most famous villains in comic book history, or even just female characters in general. Since the debut of their meeting in the BTAS episode “Harley & Ivy” (back in January 18th, 1993), their bond has blossomed in ways no other comic book relationship has.In this video I discuss the slow burn effect of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s relationship throughout DC Comics and all the mediums they provide. Gotham City Sirens (of which they’re both in) was the very first comic book I read, leading to the pit of obsession I had towards DC Comics, and both their characters in particular.As someone who has been a fan of their dynamic from the beginning, as a very young teenager who was in love with their scenes, to see the results of a relationship that has almost taken twenty years to transpire is so, so rewarding. DC Comics being completely welcoming to the romantic aspect of the Harlivy duo after so many years is something young me has wanted for so long. I haven’t covered comic books on this channel before, so this was a deep dive into a different medium for me. But I had so much fun with the challenges it brought, and was more so really passionate to cover something that I have been a fan of for years. Our Dreams at Dusk - The Use of Visual Metaphors lines in motion 2021-10-02 | Yuhki Kamatani is one of my favourite mangaka. Their work utilises the ideology of applying visual metaphors in a way of creating visceral pages of art without relying on text spelling out emotions to the reader. Much like Witch Hat Atelier, Our Dreams at Dusk is another manga that is very special to me, and in ways, is very unique in its visual illustrations. Metaphors aren’t new to manga, but Kamatani most definitely produces imagery that is so succinct in translating a word, a feeling, a depiction into imagery alone - that their work continues to be a stand out to me in the drawing world. I apologise for the late-ness of the video, but given it’s all animated manga pages, not to mention covering topics that are quite raw to me in general, it was certainly a big task.
