Signed With Heart 2021-10-27 | Clark Mercy 💖✨ Named after our family name, Clark..And the middle name, Mercy, Kim (@trackclubbabe) wrote recently in her post, “God gave me the name Mercy while I was going THROUGH it this summer. It was a reminder of His faithfulness and mercy on me even in my lows. Every day of her life, I will pray that ‘surely God’s goodness & mercy will never fail’ my Clark Mercy (Psalm 23). 😭🥰”.Kim has always wanted to name her firstborn Clark, even for a girl. She actually really wanted a girl. It was sweet seeing her dream come true, a baby girl named Clark. ✨.I love that they’ve named the first baby in the Clark family our family name Clark. 😄 “Clark is all of our last names, and it is her first name too.” 😄 Cute!.I’m still getting used to her name Clark, because when I think of Clark, I think of our last name. Kim told Tyler and then Tyler told Linds and then Linds told Mom and then Mom told me and then I went to wake up Dad to tell him. 😆 It was around 8:30pm. I was so excited!! 🤩 I couldn’t wait to finally find out if it was a boy or a girl!!!.Fast forward to the next day, in the afternoon, waiting a few hours in the car with my Dad and Linds, then Mom texted us… “4:18 baby girl Clark”. I first screamed in excitement! And then got all teary eyed. 🥺.Then like 15 minutes later, we FaceTimed with them… literally one second after seeing baby Clark on Kim’s chest (right after the screenshot was taken), I BAWLED MY EYES OUT! 😭😭😭 I had no idea it would be THAT emotional. 😭 I was SO thankful that baby Clark has arrived safely!! I started walking faster and the man waiting by the elevator walked in first. As I walked in the elevator, he reached to press a floor number button, I quickly debated whether I should show the hands of 5 fingers and 2 fingers or if I should try use my voice and after he pressed number 4, he turned to look at me and I quickly said seven and he turned to press number 7….... he didn’t go, “Huh?”. Filming Without Makeup Signed With Heart 2021-08-13 | **Closed captions available in the settings.** Filming Without Makeup - Week 23 of 52 — I never thought I’d do this… filming without makeup, but after missing two weekends to film a weekly vlog *just because I didn’t want to put on makeup*, I decided to just film without makeup, I didn’t want to keep letting not having makeup to stop me from filming anymore. I remember seeing makeup videos and how many girls would start videos with showing their bare face before they start putting makeup on and I remember thinking that I could never do that… I was very insecure about how I looked without makeup… so for me to film and post this vlog is a big deal for me! But that’s how much I didn’t want to put on makeup, haha.As I rewatched this video… I was thinking about how I wouldn’t be where I am today (or made all the changes I have made in the past year) if not for all the thinking I’ve done and how I need to make more time to think so I can go much further in life, to reach my goals & dreams. It’s amazing how powerful a word, a sentence, a quote can shift and change the direction of our lives… “With God’s help, 2020 can still be the most amazing, productive, and fruitful year *if you change the trajectory now*”… change the trajectory and your life will change.Thinking is hard work but that’s what leads to success. Last Week Was Really Challenging Signed With Heart 2021-08-04 | **Turn on closed captions, in the settings at the bottom right of the video, click on the CC / the subtitle icon.** Last Week Was Really Challenging — To be honest, I was even scared to mention about what happened in this vlog in fear of saying wrong things and even though this was filmed over a year ago, I was still a little scared to post this vlog… but I wanted to document this in my journey. Watching this one year later, that was like a big change, a shift in our society. More people including myself were becoming more aware of what’s been happening- which is the first step to change, being aware of the issues- more people were talking about this. I can’t remember any time in history in the past in my lifetime had there been anything like last summer. Like we have social media now. Some people would get upset if other people didn’t say anything about what happened but then these same people would get upset if they said wrong things, so that week was challenging for me trying to figure out what to post, what to say. But I’ve read, I’ve listened, I’ve learned that week. And I’m still learning.Thanks again for watching and being a part of my personal vlogging journey.

But I will create more fingerspelling practice video in the future without giving away in the video titles. :) About the signs for “Person”… there are two different versions- the initialized version and the non-initialized version. Initialized signs are signs that use the handshape of a letter like letter P for Person. Some signs in American Sign Language are initialized with a handshape of the first letter of a word… like for examples, C for cousin, A for aunt, N for niece / nephew.The non-initialized version of “person” is more commonly used but both are used, so either is fine. The non-initialized sign for “person” is used at the end for occupation words ending -er like teacher, photographer, manager, etc, like “teach” + “person” for Teacher. It’s the same for words that do not end with -er but are occupation words like artist, actor, etc, you sign “person” at the end, “art” + “person” for artist.If you aren’t able to identify letters on the spot at the slowest speed, I encourage you to sign up for the Fingerspelling 101: The Alphabet mini online course. You might know the alphabet but you probably need more practice identifying letters on the spot and that will really help with your fingerspelling receptivity making it easier to practice reading fingerspelling. This is the first vlog with closed captions, where you can turn on and off if you prefer to watch without captions or you’d like to practice your comprehension. :)Weeks 20 & 21 // May 2020 — Focusing On Consistency With My Morning Routine — Having a morning routine has really changed my life for the better like I honestly couldn’t imagine how even more messier I would be today had I not have a morning routine now. I started the morning routine in 2019 when I was going through a divorce. I had just started a new reading habit earlier that year and @terrisavellefoy ’s book, “5 Things Successful People Do Before 8am” was one of the first few books I read. I was already doing some of the 5 things but I was not consistent with exercising, and I usually read at night, and I meditated at a different time everyday and in the book Terri recommends doing all of these 5 things in the morning so that’s when I started doing all of these 5 things in the morning and my life has improved so much since then.I’ve learned that consistency matters especially on days when you don’t feel like it… it keeps you moving forward, making progress everyday. The purpose of having a morning routine is to have time for yourself, to invest in yourself before you start your day. There are so many benefits of having a morning routine and here are a few: have time for yourself without interruptions, helps set the tone for the day, helps you keep going and making progress even on hard days. Having a morning routine helps you make progress towards your goals & dreams everyday- every little bit adds up. I’m so grateful that I bought this book and started the new morning routine! I highly recommend that you have a morning routine too (if you don’t have one), it will help improve your life.I recommend starting small, start with 1 or 2 habits at a time. Exercising, reading a book, praying / meditating, listening to a podcast or an audio cd, and reviewing goals are the 5 things Terri recommends in the book. You could google for different morning routine ideas… it could be anything like related to self care like journaling or anything related to your goals & dreams. Consistency is key to see change in your life. My Husband And I Got Divorced Signed With Heart 2021-07-21 | My Husband And I Got Divorced — I meant to post this last year but I kept getting behind on adding closed captions that I got overwhelmed and stopped posting these personal vlogs for almost a year. Anyways, about this vlog- I ended up deciding not to edit out the parts where I was quiet but I did actually edit a few seconds out, one sentence. I said something that I didn’t mean to share, didn’t want to share. I debated whether if I should post the raw footage or edit it because it was a bit repetitive but then decided not to because I have been posting the raw footage of my vlogs and I had said in the beginning of the vlogging journey that I wanted to challenge myself to film and post the raw footage all the way through the year.And honestly, that’s kind of how I am sometimes... that I sometimes repeat myself- it’s something that I’m already aware of and try to not to repeat myself. Aligning With My Goals Signed With Heart 2021-07-15 | Week 19: Aligning With My Goals — This is one of the valuable lessons I’ve learned in the past year- to align my everyday life, my to-do list for the day with my goals for the year by breaking down the goals in smaller goals to aim for each month making progress towards my goals everyday, one step at a time, one day at a time. Since aligning my everyday life with the goals for the year, I can tell you this: every little bit does add up over time. So, don’t give up on your goals. In this case, I’m talking about the phrase, “What can I get for you?” I wasn’t sure which way to teach… I could teach how to sign the phrase in English (meaning teaching signs for every word and signing in the exact English word order) or I could translate the phrase using different signs and signing in the ASL grammar (which is different from English) which is what I ended up deciding to do, but now I wish I would have taught the English way instead after talking with one of my deaf friends about it. She thought that signing “what you want?” might come off as rude for some deaf people (that’s why facial expressions are so important, be sure to smile when asking 😅). I chose to teach this way because I thought it would be easier for the employee and people watching this video to learn… fewer signs to remember. 🤷🏻♀️ It doesn’t have to be perfect though, the main thing is that you use what you know, we appreciate it when hearing people make an effort to communicate with us using what they know.Anyways, hope you enjoy the video! :)P.S. Why My Dad Learned Sign Language - #whyIsign Signed With Heart 2020-10-03 | The purpose of the #whyIsign campaign is to encourage hearing parents of deaf children everywhere to share their experiences, their stories of why they learned to sign with their deaf child to inspire and encourage other hearing parents to learn sign language too to communicate with their deaf child. My family and I shared our #whyIsign stories back in 2016 when the campaign first started. September is Deaf Awareness Month, so for Deaf Awareness Month last month, I wanted to film a new #whyIsign video with my parents sharing why we sign and sharing their perspectives on learning sign language to communicate with me.We hope, through doing videos together, to inspire and encourage more hearing parents to learn sign language to communicate with their deaf baby, their deaf child. I wanted to show them that learning sign language is not that hard and that even if they don’t have time to take sign language classes, they can still learn sign language and have a good relationship with their deaf child. My dad had only taken one night class when I was like 2 or 3 years old and that’s it. His signing vocabulary grew over years and he’s still adding signs to his vocabulary. :) You can learn too. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect, the goal is simply to communicate. 😌P.S.
