JHawk4
Run starts around 3:16. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvement. That being said, I am happy to get WR before Ice Cube gets something crazy like sub 1:30 ;)

I finally completed all 12 full stage combos on Mania+. This is the longest and most difficult stage, with the whole 2nd half of the stage being extremely tough to get right. Despite all of the Pikmin 3DX and Pikmin 4 speedruns, this game somehow ended up being my highest playtime game on Switch. Next, it's on to the Switch 2...

These were all world records when they were set, and they were set around 1 month, 3 months, 4 months, and 9 months ago respectively.
The numbers in the corners track the following:
1) current elapsed time in the run for that player (turns grey when paused / waiting for other runs to catch up)
2) how many seconds they are behind the leader so far in the whole run (note, this includes how much time they gain/lose on the current segment)
3) how much time they lose on the current segment compared to the fastest of the four runs, or if they have the best segment, the segment time will appear in yellow instead. Note again this information is for the current segment.
I wrote a python script to detect the saving icon in the upper left corner. When this icon appears, the script waits for all runs to catch up. I've been wanting to write this script for a while but I finally got around to hacking it up.
If people are interested, I could clean up the code and share it. I feel like this sort of thing could be very useful for analyzing where and how you lose time to other players. Future work could include some of the following ideas:
1) making it work for other games
2) making it easy to use
3) adding sound to the videos (the library I'm using doesn't easily support this)
4) maybe some fancy algorithms to sync things up more frequently than the save points. This seems a bit tricky but would be much more useful for games with more time between save points.
To get an FC in this game, you need to defeat all the enemies without getting hit, and without letting the combo drop (which happens a few seconds after not hitting anything). Certain moves use up your meter (turning it green), and if you're hit in that state, you'll lose all of that health. Non-special moves recover the green meter. Certain moves have invincibility frames (blitz, neutral special, throws, and jumps), and it's critical to use these well. Axel's strongest option in many situations is blitz into neutral special, since it's invincible the whole time. However, if your meter is empty and you don't hit anything during the blitz, you won't be able to neutral special, and you will likely get hit and die. It's crucial to understand the enemy AI and patterns.
Pretty much any wave of enemies can end an FC on this stage. Getting the combo extension with the purple broom is also tricky. There were some very close calls in this run.
I have ~275 hours in this game (currently 100 hours more than Pikmin 4!), but some people out there are way better than I am, and can FC any stage reasonably consistently.
This was played on the Switch version, with motion controls on.
"Modest" supply: 0-32 fruits (aka any%)
"Reasonable" supply: 33-53 fruits (aka good ending)
"Healthy" supply: 54-65 fruits
"Bountiful" supply: 66 fruits (aka all fruits)
This run showcases a very cool strat to clone yellows for day 7 after skipping the yellow onion on day 3. The game will save yellows in the onion for day 7/8 if you try to withdraw yellows in the wing slot on day 6 using ZL.
This run was very clean! Only a few small time losses on day 5.
Splits vs IL records:
Day 1: +26
Day 2: +0
Day 3: +4
Day 4: +14
Day 5: +0
Day 6: +26
Day 7: +15
Day 8: +8
Day 9: +4
Day 10: +50
Times relative to individual level records:
Flower Garden: +4s
Inside Forest: +6s
River: +6s
Tundra: +7s
Yellow onion skip: on day 3, we perform a OOB walk to exit the yellow onion cave without growing 20 yellows. This also saves time because there is no yellow onion merging cutscene. Yellows are not needed for the rest of the run!
Wraith bombs: we collect bombs in the formidable oak cave section, and use them to defeat the wraith very quickly. -- Watch live at twitch.tv/jhawk4
Here's all of the new strats, which save around 3 minutes compared to the old 48:03 record:
1) 1 cycle mawdad call-off. (found by EcksDee) (not featured in this run due to RNG)
2) Snitchbug special delivery - use the snitchbug to get out of bounds (found by DroughtEnder, APerson13, and myself)
3) Backdoor Phosbat - OOB movement to enter the phosbat arena in an unintended manner. (found by APerson13)
4) Lightless Phosbat - defeat the phosbat without the main light.
5) Bomb duplication - duplicate 5 extra bombs, and use them to 3 cycle the meerslug and break the concrete wall. (found by jay596 and myself)
6) Maestro no knock down on the 3rd cycle.
7) Side rock louie clip - more consistent strat. (found by EcksDee)
8) Sprays on the final boss. (not featured in this run due to RNG)
Special thanks to ice cube and jay596, and also APerson13 for the insane new strats!

Day 1 is pretty annoying, as the game doesn't want you to kill any pikmin there. Garden of Hope and Tropical Wilds are also pretty tight on time. However, the most difficult day is day 10, where I only get to start with 5 pikmin, and I can only grow more with candypop extinctions. This is a pretty insane restriction, but I was still able to achieve a 10 day completion!

Solid run, showcases some new strats and a new tropical wilds route.

Day 1 was really solid, only one second off of my gold. The only mistake was missing the seed spawn manipulation. Day 2 overall was pretty good, though the Mawdad could have gone a little better. The new strat for breaking the sand wall seems to save a few seconds. Also, I learned that the slurker has eyes, and if you follow those, you can stay behind him, and he will constantly turn. Day 3 started off shaky, with a mediocre yellow cave. But, the whistle glitch went well. I feel like I've learned a lot about how to effectively deal with the bulborb, by sacrificing pikmin to stall him. The Phosbat fight was nearly perfect. Day 4 started off well. I missed the second bomb on the Meerslug, because I wasn't ready for that pattern. I lost a bit of time, but the pattern for the Meerslug was pretty good, so I didn't lose too much time. Day 5 had a good start, though I still lost around 10 seconds by going for the safer long whistle. The Maestro fight wasn't too good, losing around 10 more seconds. The Louie clip was almost botched, but I got extremely lucky, and he fell off on the first try. Day 6 was clean, not much to say here. I lost around 8 seconds to my golds. Day 7 was perfectly played in the cave section, but I didn't get the respawn first try. Otherwise, it would have been gold. The Wraith fight was good, though I know it can still be done around 20 seconds faster with good luck.
Overall, I'm really happy! I hope IceCube will come back to challenge the new record.
Overall good run, no major driving mistakes outside of WS, RNG was average to good. As of 3/3/18, this is the 6th best time in this category.
