Dok will be headed out West here in the United States and has provided a wonderful summary: "The main purpose of the expedition is to track down the provenance of some fossils in my Alma Mater's collection. We have some dinosaur bones in the basement that have next to no documentation. But after months of detective work, I've managed to narrow down their provenance to about a 1 square mile area. A lotta land, but 2 weeks should be enough time to find and document the site. If it can be found To add to that, I want to see if there are any more fossils at the site. One of the specimens in our collection comes from a juvenile sauropod, which are not very common. So if there is more of the skeleton out there, it could be important to future research. If it's on public land, I can't dig it up. But I can contact the US Bureau of Land Management, and they have a plethora of institutions who can excavate and preserve the skeleton. If it's on private land, things get a bit more complicated. But that's a bridge to cross when I get to it. And at least the site can be identified and documented. Once the expedition is over, whatever donations remain will be given to a fund for a local museum (link here: bighornbasindinos.org ). I'd like to be able to donate as much as possible, which is why I'm trying my best to fundraise before I head out there. I want to be certain I have enough money for emergencies, and then that emergency fund is going to be donated afterwards." Dok has personally raised $1600, but is hoping to make it to $3000. This means he is trying to raise an additional $1400 dollars that will go toward vehicle maintenance (offroading in the West is tough on a car), food, supplies, and an emergency fund. They might have told you Jeffery Tomkins, a creationist geneticist, has turned the human/chimp relationship on it's head. You can find it, and a video addressing criticisms, below.A few times in this video in demonstrating Tomkins 2011-2014 weighting scheme I use the following formula: (average length/average qlen) * 100 = percentage.This should be (average nident/average qlen) * 100 = percentage. (this actually makes the numbers ~1% worse). This does not impact the listed results for organisms pairs as I reran the weighting for each, as can be double checked using the write-up linked below, but simply applied to on-screen demonstrations of the calculation.
