Questions? Contact team@minipcr.comWhat is Gel Electrophoresis? | miniPCR bio™miniPCR bio2020-12-17 | Electrophoresis is a long word that means carried by electricity. In the lab, it refers to the movement of molecules like DNA, RNA, or protein mobilized by an electric field through some kind of substance. One of the most common uses of electrophoresis is to use an agarose gel to separate pieces of DNA in order to visualize them and determine their sizes. Today, we’re going to take an in-depth look at this process.

Session title: SynBio workforce preparedness: training the next generation during a pandemic
Session description: The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting transition to remote learning at home has greatly interrupted a student's ability and motivation to learn. To grow the future of the synthetic biology workforce and bioeconomy, we must find strategies to maintain biology education and inspire students to pursue these career paths through hands-on experiential learning that can be performed at home. There have been many advances in recent years in the synthetic biology space around accessible tools and resources that can be translated into hands-on learning activities, and this breakout session will allow people to share, learn, and discuss how these resources can be applied to at-home learning for students.
