"La vaca" in Spanish is a famous song currently trending on tiktok and after making the first version of this video over on @irlandesastre , it went viral (as I write this, it's about to pass a million views on Tiktok after just a single day). This video is sort of like a part 2 to jump on its virality.Note that the flags represent the language when appropriate (e.g. Quechua is based on the flag of Cuzco, rather than Peru), and obviously Esperanto isn't the official language of Poland, but it's where that photo was taken and is also where the language started.Just a bit of fun. Mount Kilimanjaro: a very lonely hike with just one local guide to keep me company Benny Lewis 2023-11-08 | Most of my hike to the peak of Kilimanjaro (which can be seen in the background here) was a mainly solo hike nearly all the way to each campsite, with a single guide.Typically, you are in a big group, but after a very difficult day 1, we realized that I simply couldn't keep up with everyone else, given the state of my health at the time.Fortunately, there were 3 local guides for a group our size, so @PamojaSafaris were able to sacrifice one who would go much slower than the others to make sure he could keep an eye on me the entire time. Hiking completely alone would be suicide; there are no paths or markers, so you can very easily get lost without someone who knows the terrain.A huge thanks to Hosea who put up with me for the rest of the week! We had to go considerably slower than the rest of the group (I made sure to give him a very generous tip at the end for putting up with me, and especially for motivating me as it got harder and harder, especially on summit day).I'd leave before the others on several of the hiking days, but always arrive one or several hours later than them at our next camping spot. The difference a year can make Benny Lewis 2023-02-24 | Hard to believe that a year ago I was almost at "severe obesity" levels (but well into class 2 obesity; yes there are different classes of obesity, that I unfortunately know all about...), at a far-too-high 125kg/275lb because of recovering from clinical depression from the most difficult years of my life.But I sold all my stuff to return to the nomadic life, moved to countries where I could have healthier routines and made major lifestyle changes and am now safely on the way to a much healthier body.I still have lots of work to do, but I'm so glad I can finally do it in fun ways like hip-hop dance lessons. I have so much fun dancing, so it's actually a vicious cycle that I simply couldn't dance (which really would have lifted my spirits) no matter how much I wanted to, for so many years.Any time I tried, I'd be exhausted after about 30 seconds.Back in Mexico, in November, I was out with some polyglot friends and danced for the first time in many years and was able to do it for more than one song. I simply can't express how emotional that moment was for me. It was like a crucial piece of myself that I thought was gone forever, suddenly came back strong and ready.I still have lots of work to do, but I'm confident that in a few short months with the level of exercise I've got in my routine here in Bali, I'll be able to pull off some cool dance moves for much longer (and maybe not be SO sweaty afterwards...)If there's anything this journey has thought me, it's that you CAN eventually recover, even from the absolute worst that life can throw at you.I'll of course be sharing more about the hows of my recovery here on this channel (linked in the bio), so be sure you're following if you'd like to hear more about it!

Every time I come back to YouTube shorts, I'm disappointed that they are still way behind TikTok (and even Instagram Reels). After getting everything I own in the world into one bag, of course its lost on my first flight!😂 Benny Lewis 2022-07-07 | I am completely nomadic again and everything I own in the world fits into my hand luggage and one checked bag. Woohoo!I know some people can go further and can travel with just hand luggage AND not have a base to leave their stuff at. I don't know if I'll get that far because I have technology like a second monitor and bulky laptop for livestreaming and editing videos I want to travel with that makes that harder.The catch with this lifestyle though, is that if the airline loses your bag, it's kind of like your house with all your worldly possessions in it getting "lost". Quite stressful indeed!!This summer is a really crazy time to get back into travels; with airlines and airports understaffed, bags are going missing, sometimes for weeks on end, and loads of flights are getting cancelled. Fortunately, I ended up getting my bag back after a few days of wearing the exact same clothes, just when I was about to give up and go buy and entire new wardrobe. Phew!

Friend Like Me from Aladdin 🧞: Multilingual & acted out Benny Lewis 2021-04-04 | I took "Friend Like Me" from the original animated Disney's Aladdin and acted out each scene, while singing it in multiple different languages and dialects, based on the original dubs in those languages I was most confident in.Languages I covered include European and Latin American Spanish, European and Canadian French, European and Brazilian Portuguese, German and Italian, while trying to act out as close as I could get to the original animated version, almost frame-by-frame at some places, playing all characters while I'm at it.I actually recorded this two years ago, and it was a great creative outlet to help me cope with some difficult changes I was going through in my life, but I only managed to get around to the editing part of it this year! Benny Lewis 2017-05-26 | If you are ever *really* confused, then send someone this video of 3 polyglots saying "I don't understand" in 18 languages!Note that I made a mistake because of translating too many phrases too quickly, and the German should read "Ich verstehe es nicht" or "Ich verstehe's nicht". Sorry I forgot that!
