TheClosetHistorianBack on my adventures with ice dying! Today I'm learning how to ice dye geode patterns and working my way up to doing so on fabric yardage to sew with. First I have to give t-shirts a try, a few scarves to make, and even a sweater dress to transform!
The white sweater dress: amazon.com/gp/product/B08N14VRRV (I'm wearing a Large which is pretty spot on but also stretchy enough I could have gotten away with a medium too I think)

First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

Is this taking things a little too far? Maybe. Today I am beading some shield beetles, to look sorta like shields 🛡️✨ At least these ones are a little more subtle since I wanted them to look aged. Should I make some more of these in a more ultra heraldic style?
The shortest strand of my bead sash is 17 inches long, the longest is 21 inches long, adjust as needed for desired effect and human wearing said sash. I used "crystal" beads from Michaels for mine!

Thank you for watching!VERDIGRIS // A Steampunk Inspired SelectionTheClosetHistorian2023-06-02 | FLASH WARNING: Skip forward to 6:28 to get past flashing edits, there are some RGB stuttering transitions later in the video for the hyper sensitive!
Is she a smuggler, a spy, a sorceress? Why not be all three. Today I have a collection of ensembles inspired by the colors and textures of steampunk and dieselpunk environments, rich rusts, deep browns, iridescent teals, and acidic greens.
And not one black garment in this entire video 🎉 Just to prove I can, though darkest brown isn't exactly very different 😂

Brown Sunglasses: amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSCQT6B Cognac Leather Jacket: Is from a company called Fan Jackets which does a ton of really cool leather jackets, but...the customer service is pretty weird. The sizing is strange, I ordered my correct measurements and the jacket was too big and rather bulky compared to the more fitted look shown on their website when it arrived. When I tried to exchange for the next size down, they let me, but had me send the too-big jacket straight to a clothing recycling/reuse place in a different state rather than back to them?! It was all very weird, so while the jacket itself is real leather and good quality overall, the fit leaves me unimpressed and the interaction was overall strange. Due to travel complications (missed my first day thanks to canceled flights eek) and a cold, this trip turned out a little more hectic than I had been hoping for, but London is London, and London is magnificent. Here is just a glimpse of what I got up to and some recommendations for museums not to miss in my very favorite city of all ❤️

Thank you for watching! How I Get Inspired // Fashion Show Favorites PlaylistTheClosetHistorian2023-01-05 | I'm currently (finally!) painting my bathroom cabinets, and then taking some time to write this week, so this video is rather shorter than usual! That's because I'm just here to say hello and introduce a playlist of my favorite fashion shows, the ones I rewatch again and again to get inspired for new sewing projects and outfit combinations!
One Thierry Mugler show often provides enough inspiration for six months at least, so I hope you will enjoy some of these collections as much as I do. Not all shows are available in HD quality video, though with shows from the 1990's I suppose we are just lucky to have any footage at all!
Some of these designers or collections focus on silhouettes I wouldn't wear myself, but I get very inspired by the pairings of colors or combinations of unique materials used. Armani Prive for example always utilizes interesting textiles and gorgeous beadwork and sequinning. There also may be some partial nudity in these shows, French high fashion and all that...so this playlist may not be safe for work 😅
There are probably several hours of shows here to browse, but let me know if you spot any favorites! I know I had to have a high slit front pencil skirt after watching too many appear in various shows. Music and Sound Effects from Epidemic Sound.
