Well, i am kinda of back. I found the original file for this tune last monday and decided to complete it, because it sounded really incredible.
Now honestly, i don't know how i actually was able to make a tune with the namco 163, because it's one of the soundchips that were the most difficult (at least for me) to make a tune on.
I mixed the track on a separated daw, because everything was on the center and the melody kept being drowned by the other elements.

I also decided to try a new way of making visulization videos with MDPlayer (it doesn't seem to have showed some of the OPL4 pcm channels but wharever).

Originally, this was done with a fork that supported the OPL4 back in 2022 (now there is a new fork with the same intention, but way more updated that this one I used almost 1/2 year ago). Decided to upload it here because I tought it sounded alright.
I am starting to like more this vgm player, due to the fact that it is kinda unique in terms to display the notes and all other stuff thats going on (specially for the OPL4, wich for me is absolutely painful to make oscilloscopes with that much channels).
Module: This time I am not sharing the module due to the fact that the version of furnace that I used to make this cover is very old and obsolete (and incompatible) with the newer versions, so I am not sharing it.

It is a wavetable-pcm hybrid that was used mainly on the apple ][gs and some arcades, and I originally tought it was a very dificult chip to work on (because of some of it's limitations), however I decided to accept the challenge of working with something new and never before explored.
This was made with furnace-b, a fork of furnace that has a few additional features, that can be found here: github.com/LTVA1/furnace
Vgm: Well, I was able to export the vgm for this track, however the melody did sound a lot out of tune, so I decided to not include the vgm this time.

I finally reached 800 subscribers! Something I tought that I would never be able to do on youtube, and guess what? Well, the rest is history!
So well, this cover is actually from 2022, from back when furnace didn't have the real nintendo ds emulation yet, so basically back then I made a little template that used the generic dacs to simulate each pcm channel, the vera chip to simulate the psg section and 2 gameboys to simulate the noise channels. It turns out it sounded pretty authentic to the original nds hardware, and I decided to finish this cover the way it was.
I hope you guys enjoy this cover! Thank you all for 800 subscribers!Yosuke Yasui - Opposing Force (YM2151 + SegaPCM cover) (Furnace) (Oscilloscope View)Ygor G.2024-08-01 | Oh well, two years ago (almost) I posted a WIP version of this saying that I would never finish it. Well, guess what ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep, there is one channel that does not play anything on the oscilloscope. That was just to fill that space.
In a nutshell, it's simply a better SID chip created by @ltva8781, having a few extra features if you compare to the original chip like per-channel volume control, per-channel filters, more waveform mixing modes and even the ability to play tonal noise waves.
With that in mind, I wanted to give it a shot and see if I could make a simple tune to test it, and this is the result.
The mixing was made externally on a separated daw, however only panning is present and no extra effects (reverb, delay, etc) have been added during the mixing process.A very short announcement.Ygor G.2024-07-27 | Banger background music.

However, i made this tune last year with the intention of seeing how capable these synths (if paired together) were, specially in some different genres like house.
So this was the result. This very same track will be released in an upcoming album with other songs i made arround the same period last year.
I decided to do this just for fun and it turned out pretty great so i decided to post it here.
Here is the list of synths/sample cd's used to restore this track: Korg 01/W Korg M1EX Korg wavestation The X-Static Goldmine Zero g datafile 2 For the bass, i restored it since it's not known from what synth it comes from

It's essentially another unique proprietary sample chip made by irem... but it's pretty cool actually. Also i would like to say, merry christmas everyone! (if you actually do celebrate it)
The K007232 was added in furnace probably yesterday and i decided to make a cover from gradius II to test it. It's essentially just a 2 channel pcm chip that konami made... nothing too special about it.Stardust speedway past (Yamaha YMF278/OPL4 cover) [Old furnace version] [MDplayer view]Ygor G.2022-11-16 | VGM: drive.google.com/file/d/1rXu-jxkKQOCozORgb7LgrQYIA-BomAPN/view?usp=sharing
Like i said on my previous video, this was also made with an older version of furnace (a custom fork that added OPL4 and multipcm support) that isn't updated since august.
It's better to do OPL4 stuff using mdplayer cuz my pc literally can explode while rendering 42 tracks on a oscilloscope view lol (not even counting the thousands of wave files it would generate to me to do so lol)Sonic CD - Palmtree Panic Past (Yamaha OPL4/YMF278B cover) [MDPlayer view]Ygor G.2022-11-09 | Let me explain how this was done. There is a fork of furnace that adds the yamaha OPL4 and Multipcm soundchips, and it's quite old, but i wanted to test the OPL4 to see how flexible it is, and here is the result. Yes, that fork with the OPL4/Multipcm chips is pretty old for now (i think it hasn't been updated since august) so i don't recommend using it.

Transforming a 6 channel song in 4 channels wasn't easy, specially with the use of a blank instrument... but i think it sounds pretty alright.
Idk why people doesn't like to use the wonderswan tho, it's a pretty flexible console in terms of sound hardware.

Fractal driver, is an new sound driver that's being developed for the sega genesis that has several features such as extended channel 3 mode, ssg-eg, dual pcm (wich is what i used on this cover), independent psg 3 & 4 channels (since originally channel 4 wich produces noise. used the pitch information from the psg channel 3 to get more pitches rather than A) and even CSM mode (wich is an speech synthesys method).
Furnace has added it recently and i decided to do a simple test with it.
The scc is a pretty nice chip. It offers 5 extra wavetable channels. On the original scc, the same waveform was shared between channels 4 & 5, but later on the scc+ variant fixed that problem.
