Alas, his hands were tied when Ace books just released a paperback version without his permission. It forced Tolkien to publish an authorized paperback version, but also likely brough him worldwide success in the process.

But an investigative journalist tried to unmask her, which became a pretty inflamed controversy, he's convinced his work has enriched readers, but Ferrante has said remaining anonymous is a critical part of her creative process. Banning a book restricts access to it for a group of people, meaning they can't read it even if they wanted to. It often includes removing it from schools/libraries or moving it to an "adults only" section. Of Mice and Men is both one of the most taught books in schools, and, perhaps consequently, is often on the ALA (American Library Association) list of top banned books. The dollhouse with real books by famous authorsDrawn to Books2024-05-30 | Queen Mary's Dollhouse was completed in 1924, and filled with art and objects from the 1920s. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and thought modern society lost its ability to appreciate beauty and quality, so he was protecting the books. He never intended to sell them, he just wanted to be their caretaker.
Frede Moller-Kristensen holds the record for most prolific book theif in terms of monetary value. He stole the books from 1967-1978 while he was a head librarian, but in 1978, the library tightened security and he had to stop. When they raided his house, they found over 1500 books, some of which Moller-Kristensen had rebound or concealed the library markings from. So they think he wanted to resell them, but was too cautious to sell more than a handful while he was alive. His family just threw caution to the wind though! And they accidentally tried to sell a book of which only one complete copy exists. Whoops.
