VERY warm first wildcamp - packed wrong tent - vintage Vango! Hedley Thorne 2025-07-18 | Wild camping on Cribyn in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, below Pen-y-Fan. This, to me, is the most spectacular location for a wild camp in South Wales, with a huge 1,500ft drop to the valley below. On this trip I took my son and my nephew for his first wild camp! I used the Hilleberg Soulo, and we had the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1. But for Ed I packed the wrong tent! Instead of a nice Jack Wolfskin Gossamer 2 I packed a 19 year old Vango!We had a sunset, a sunrise and a lovely trip to watch sunset from the summit. Londons Nearest Mountain - Pen Cerrig-Calch Hedley Thorne 2025-03-07 | The Black Mountains are part of the Brecon Beacons national park, and on this hike I went to the summit of Pen Cerrig-Calch, visiting Crug Hywel (Table Mountain) on the way up. This is the closest mountain (701m) to London and the home counties. My descent was just ahead of a beautiful sunset.Always remember to take litter home when visiting these beautiful areas, and stick to footpaths where you can.Drone disclaimer- there was a helicopter operating in the area, when on Crug Hywel I could see it was on the ground and the pilot had exited so flew the drone for 3 minutes. At the summit I was in conversation with one operative who had a radio to the helicopter to confirm it was grounded. Dartmoor Wild Camp; a Duet of Soulos - damaged tent Hedley Thorne 2025-02-14 | Wild camping on arguably the best spot on Dartmoor - Great Staple Tor using the Hilleberg Soulo with @Linleys.No magical sunrise this time but the beautiful landscape did the heavy lifting. Wild Camp - Welsh Mountain Hillfort - Hilleberg Soulo - Sunrise Heaven - strong winds Hedley Thorne 2025-02-07 | Wild camping on Table Mountain hillfort in the Hilleberg Soulo in beautiful South Wales - The Black Mountains (part of the Brecon Beacons National Park). Solo trip for me this time, and with 20kg weighing me down I found it a hard slog to the top, and then had to pitch my new tent in 40 mph winds (measured!).I was rewarded with a terrific sunrise and some lovely views from above. Hilleberg Soulo Red Label - unboxing and walkaround Hedley Thorne 2025-01-21 | The Hilleberg Soulo is a highly capable 1 man tent, and so naturally I have bought one! I did strongly consider the Nortent Vern 1 for a while which I consider to also be a very capable tent, but in this video I explain why I went for the Hilleberg (I am not yet a fanboy but love the tent) and why I still recommend the Vern 1 if the Soulo is just too expensive. Which it is. VERY. In fact, I have named the tent "Temu" so to throw Mrs T off the scent and maintain my marriage...New adventures on here soon with this tent. It compliments my Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 (which is damaged inside) and offers more headroom and wind holding. I buy everything with my own money and am not paid to advertise or promote anything. It's just me and my strong views!

SubZero Wild Camp - The Ridgeway /North Wessex Downs - Hilleberg Soulo BL/ Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 Hedley Thorne 2025-01-10 | Wild camping in subzero temperatures on The Ridgeway in ancient Wessex, visiting Segsbury Castle and Seven Barrows on the way. Hilleberg Soulo Black Label and Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 were the tents we used on this trip. I was accompanied on this trip by the "super-good" Warren from @Linleys360 channelAll equipment fared very well and kept us warm and dry. I had a small hole in my inner tent in the morning, which I will ask Fjallraven to analyse. Best camping spot in Dartmoor? - Great Staple Tors ledge - Abisko Lite 1 Hedley Thorne 2024-12-20 | Wild camping on a windy Great Staple Tor in the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 over the Christmas period. This could be the best wild camping location in Dartmoor and I had amazing morning views across Merrivale. The day before however it was foggy and windy for the hike up there. 17 hours of darkness for this trip! All equipment fared very well and kept me warm and dry. I am suffering a little from asthma for the start of this trip but it improved throughout. Best Wild Camping Spot in South Wales? Cribyns Western Ledge Hedley Thorne 2024-10-04 | Wild camping on Cribyn with Linleys 360. This could be the best wild camping location in South Wales and we had amazing morning weather, so I used the DJI Mavic 3 to get a showreel halfway through. After unboxing I tested this for 30 minutes in my front room and it was toasty warm and very soft; it has a water resistant nylon covering which is useful for damp mornings in the tent. Wild Camping Sunrise! | The Blorenge, Brecon Beacons | Abisko Lite 1 Hedley Thorne 2024-07-13 | Wild camping sunrise above Abergavenny in beautiful Wales with my work friend Alex, using my Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 on The Blorenge (561m) which is in the South East corner of the Brecon Beacons. Alex suffers from being lazy and so this was the perfect trip for him; he even had his own special car park, closer to where we were camping! This was the third proper outing in my Abisko, and so far it has delivered.
