Fixing CH340 / Wemos D1 problems with Windows 11! Terrain-Tronics 2024-02-18 | I use a whole bunch of Wemos D1 Mini's with my LED lighting controllers at www.terraintronics.comRecently, I went to reprogram a bunch of them and my Windows 11 PC refused to function correctly with the boards. Turns out it was Microsoft overwriting the driver I was using, because they thought they had a better one. Uh... NO WAY!My workaround, and maybe it can work for you is: -- links are below this order of operations1) Unplug The Wemos D1.2)Disable automatic windows updates 3) Use the CH340 Driver Install app in Administrator mode to REMOVE the current driver.4) Restart the same app in Administrator mode to INSTALL version 3.5 of the driver5) Plug in your Wemos D1 with Device Manager open (you should see DM refresh with a new serial port)6) Confirm functionality (Serial port actually working) using Putty7) Update the standard BLINK code with faster timing, just to see if it is able to communicate with the Wemos D1 and reprogram it.Important Links:Dells' guide to stopping automatic updates: dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000194492/how-to-stop-windows-updates-from-downloading-and-installingCH340 Driver 3.5: https://www.arduined.eu/ch340-windows-10-driver-download/Putty: putty.org

How do *you* think Traps and Puzzles should be made in DND? #shorts Terrain-Tronics 2022-06-13 | Briefly discussed on my IG, I was thinking about many of the books I've been reading about puzzles and traps in Dungeons and Dragson, as well as other tabletop RPG's.So many are designed to kill players, rather than to hinder their progress, or give them something to solve.When I think about a smart puzzle or trap in DND, I really want to just as much of an event as a "boss battle" - something where the players have had to use their brains, as well as their brawn!What do you think? Making LED lamps for your D&D and Warhammer Terrain Terrain-Tronics 2021-10-01 | Greetings adventurer!This week brings a short video on how to create your own LED lights for your D&D and Warhammer terrain! 3 types of lights were created - floorstanding lamp posts, wallmount brackets and pathway lighting. All use 3mm orange/yellow flickering LED's, so they are *easy* to hook up to Conwy Castle LED driver boards, or directly to CR2032 batteries!Follow along with me as I use Fusion360 to create the dimentional item, then use blender to create real woodgrain texture that your average resin 3d printer should handle without issue.If you want to skip that homework, then STL's can be purchased below, or if you don't have a 3D printer, a set of pre-printed items can be ordered too! Installing CH340 Drivers for your Wemos D1 Board Terrain-Tronics 2021-05-10 | Many of the terrain tronics boards use a commonly available board called the Wemos D1 Mini as the central brain of operations.The Microcontroller on the Wemos D1 Mini is an ESP8266 - an easy to program, wifi capable chip that can handle all the cool lighting and control effects we want to do with our #Wargaming and #DungeonsandDragons #Terrain.However, the chip that sits between your USB cable and the ESP8266 requires a driver to work on Windows (and on Mac and USB).
