Milk prices have dropped nearly $10/cwt in the past year, and the current outlook is poor. Producers are facing difficult decisions about their future and may be feeling angry, sad, confused, or scared. FieldCheck for Pesticide Applicators 2023 mnagriculture 2023-02-22 | FieldCheck is a service that provides pesticides applicators with access to location of all registered crop and beehive sites on the FieldWatch map. Since new sites can be added during the growing season, applicators need to check the map at the time of application. In addition, they can choose to receive email updates when new sensitive sites are added in their area of operation.
Chlorpyrifos Tolerance Revocation mnagriculture 2022-04-21 | The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published its final rule revoking all Chlorpyrifos tolerances, effectively cancelling all food and feed uses starting February 28, 2022. Based on this decision, the MDA cancelled the registration of all Chlorpyrifos products labelled for food and feed uses from January 2022. 2022 Proposed Btk Gypsy Moth Treatments mnagriculture 2022-02-28 | The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), in collaboration with federal, state, and local partners, is proposing to treat isolated gypsy moth populations in New Duluth and Cloquet in the spring of 2022. These moths are an invasive insect, and a state monitoring program has found a high number of moths in the areas. Because of these finds, the MDA is proposing to treat approximately 75 acres in New Duluth and 496 acres in Cloquet. ISMTrack mnagriculture 2021-04-09 | The Invasive Species Management Tracking System (ISMTrack) is a new part of the Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System (EDDMapS) platform, and is used for recording invasive species management. Users enter digital management information that is tied to an EDDMapS report, and can summarize entered data. With both an online database and mobile app, this video summarizes the functionality and capabilities of the platform allowing for more efficient and effective invasive species management. Groundwater Protection Rule Webinar - August 12, 2020 mnagriculture 2020-08-19 | A live webinar was offered and recorded on August 12, 2020 by Minnesota Department of Agriculture staff.The recorded webinar includes a welcome message from Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen, a presentation to explain the Groundwater Protection Rule and the nitrogen fertilizer restrictions, and concludes with a question and answer session.
Nitrogen Fertilizer Fall Application Restrictions mnagriculture 2020-07-30 | The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is reminding farmers and landowners that beginning September 1, 2020, the application of nitrogen fertilizer in the fall and on frozen soil will be restricted in areas vulnerable to groundwater contamination. This will also apply to Drinking Water Supply Management Areas (DWSMAs) with elevated nitrate levels. Learn where the restrictions apply and the exceptions to the rule.
