Pawnee Spring Alex Burke 2016-03-29 | Spring is working its way into the plains of Colorado! The birds are singing away and the days are pleasantly warm, I just had to get out and explore a bit. Give it another couple months and we'll have green grasses and flowers for those few short weeks.
April in Rocky Mountain National Park Alex Burke 2015-05-12 | Here's a new version of the video I posted two weeks ago, this one has the film results in the video. These clips are from two of my countless adventures to the high country this winter, waiting out light and enjoying mornings completely immersed in nature without another human in sight. The difference in conditions over the span of a few days is outstanding, from a calm peaceful morning after a fresh snow to the extreme blowing snow of a windswept mountain.
RMNP April 2015 Alex Burke 2015-04-28 | Here's a quick video showing the difference a few days can make up in Rocky Mountain National Park. The first part of the video is from the wonderfully peaceful and calming morning I had today while waiting for light at Dream Lake, the second part of the clip is from Saturday morning on the side of Flattop mountain with gusty winds and blowing snow. Both days I didn't see anyone else on the trail and both were fantastic times to be enjoying one of the last snows we'll probably get this year. Did the light ever show up for me this morning? You'll just have to wait to see the film results!

Lumpy Ridge in the Snow Alex Burke 2014-01-28 | This morning I took a trip up to the mountains to spend some time in the snow. I knew it was going to be overcast and snowing so I wanted to try some different things with black and white film. Since I had some extra time I decided to make this little video to show you how peaceful it is up there in a soft snow like this. I didn't see another soul up there and the only thing making noise besides me was an owl at the trailhead. Dream Lake Winter Alex Burke 2013-12-04 | I made my way up to Rocky Mountain National Park this morning and found myself in a winter wonderland that I had all to myself. Mornings like this don't always turn out to make great photos, but it is always wonderful to spend some time up there wandering through the snow. I took a quick little video to show you all what a snowy and breezy morning in the mountains looks like. It really wasn't as cold as it looks, and I was quite comfortable sitting in the snow and soaking in the view.
