Thanks for buying me my first chainsaw when I was too broke to afford one. ...I put that little Poulan to work though, didn't I? 😄 ...Built a couple log cabins with it so far...with you by my side, of course....and then there was the day the McCormick broke down on me, at the worst time. I was stranded in the bush with my sawmill in tow and a thunderstorm on the way. Mrs. Outsider was at home sick and I needed to get home to her. I was exhausted and discouraged beyond belief. When you found me, I told you I was fine, but you saw the tears in my eyes. Without a word, you pulled me into a big bear hug. Then you rolled up your sleeves, and we got to work. Thanks for being my strength when mine fails.Thanks for teaching me that even the strongest men need Jesus. We wanted to take full advantage of the log cabin's beautiful cathedral ceiling, which is why we decided to leave the rafters and barn board sheathing exposed from the inside. This meant we couldn't insulate from the inside. Our only option was to place sheets of foam board insulation on TOP of the roof. This is the result! In this episode, we build the cabin and add transparent PVC roofing panels to it. Perfect for stargazing! The clear roofing isn't just for looks and lighting though, it can also be used for heating during the winter! Much in the same way that a greenhouse passively heats itself using sunlight. So cool! Throw in some led string lights, and it looks like hundreds of fireflies have come to rest on the cabin roof. What's more, we're building it with lumber that we've produced from the portable sawmill. After custom fitting the ridge piece and header, we ran out of wood. This meant that I had to hop onto the tractor and retrieve an old spruce log, which is when the trouble began.
