Shar sain duadhe, shar sain duadhe

Laada culieb, laada culieb
-----
English:
We walk the footsteps of our fathers
The trails blazed by our mothers
They bought the land with their blood
Long ago, long ago
Sing of Manetheren
Weep for the blood of Aemon
Cry for Manetheren
Long ago, long ago
In the land where the first blood runs
Across the Tarendrelle
Flew the Red Eagle
Destined to fall
No ground was given
But they were betrayed
By dawn on the last day
The waters were blood
Sing of Manetheren
Weep for the blood of Aemon
Cry for Manetheren
Long ago, long ago

[1] Some notes on the Old Tongue translation:
Vocabulary consulted from: wot.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Old_Tongue_words
Various grammar structures, word order and general usage deduced from âAlâNaitoâ (instagram.com/p/CX_m2aCMN5R) and âMashiaraâ (instagram.com/p/CYaO0Drt2S6) song lyrics, as well as the Season 1/Episode 8 script page visible in behind-the-scenes footage (amazon.co.uk/Wheel-Time-Season-Teaser-Trailer/dp/B09F5JJXHX/ref=nav_signin/?crid=5ANAJXZEYLLJ&keywords=the+wheel+of+time&qid=1641325823&sprefix=the+whee%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-1&).
While an astonishing number of sewing terms are provided in the vocabulary database (actually this isnât surprising at all, given the storyâs unrelenting textile metaphors đ), several words needed to be compounded or extrapolated to cover terms specific to this video:
-As no record of the term âzipâ seems to have survived in Old Tongue records, it is called here a âsobelâangrealâ (âmagical button-closure-like device surviving from the Age of Legendsâ).
-The felling stitch (âbhootâzinikâ) roughly translates in Common Tongue to âscrew-stitchâ due to the corkscrew nature of its thread path. The â-aneâ past tense suffix has been added in this instance (âbhootâzinikaneâ) to denote the action of fell-stitching.
-The imperial measuring system does seem to have finally been eradicated by the introduction of Old Tongue during the Age of Legends as no terminology for such units of measure seem to have been recorded; for our present imperial measuring purposes, however, I have selected to use the translation for OT ânailâ (âhakhelâ), as the nail unit of measure was our early modern precursor to todayâs inch.
(Requisite apologies to anyone who has spent years and actual effort deciphering this language, please pardon my three-hour colossal script-writing diversion which, incidentally, turned out to be a thrilling way to spend a Saturday evening. Highly recommend.)
