Cycling Body UCI Flakes Out On Trans Policy Noel Plum 2023-05-04 | A couple of days ago a trans woman, Austin Killips, won the UCI 2.2 category stage race The Tour of Gila in Mexico, the first time a trans woman has won a UCI sanctioned stage race.The UCI's response would be laughable were this not a world governing body of a major sport we are talking about. They immediately showed just how much belief they have in their own policy by announcing a "re-consultation", just based on this one result.There is spinelessness on display here. Unavoidably so. Either spinelessness in enacting an original policy they had no belief in or spinelessness in not standing by a policy they do believe in.
