About the Song For this song, I was initially aiming for more of a folk sound, but I liked they way some of the other parts blended with the acoustic guitar so it is sort of an ambient-folk hybrid. It is kind of hypnotic and evokes a feeling of mystery.
About the Video The video are scenes of a few beaches near where I live (Wu Kai Sha) in Hong Kong. Most of them were taken using a Sony Nex-7 but one was taken with a Digital Harinezumi 2++ toy camera. This royalty free song is a lively piece influenced by swing music, Latin jazz and electronic music (so it might fit into the Electro Swing genre, though at 96 bpm it is slower than most of the other songs in that genre). I played this song on a Korg M50 Synth and recorded it using Sonar Home Studio. I recorded the song during the COIVD-19 pandemic, so I wanted to create something upbeat to chase away the boredom of social isolation.
The video footage is of a short trip I took to Tokyo with my daughter in the summer of 2018. She has her own lifestyle and travel channel (her videos are in Cantonese): youtube.com/channel/UC4UNGDKO0eFIgilfpv8qrwg
I shot the video using a Fujifilm X100T, a Sony Nex-7 and an iPhone.
For this trip, we didn't do a lot of activities because Tokyo was in the midst of a record-setting heatwave. We live in Asia and travel to Japan fairly regularly, so in this trip, we didn't go to any of Tokyo's must-see tourist spots, we just went to places that we felt like going to.
Yuigahama Beach This beach at Sagami Bay is about an hour by train from central Tokyo. It is not a spectacularly beautiful beach, but you can rent surfboards there and get away from the city for while.
teamLab Planets For me this was the highlight of the trip. teamLab is a collective of artists, musicians, computer programmers and engineers who specialize in creating immersive and interactive light and sound shows. They now have a permanent museum in Tokyo, teamlab Borderless (https://borderless.teamlab.art/), but we went to their recent exhibition at Toyosu: teamLab Planets (https://planets.teamlab.art/tokyo/). Both exhibitions require advance booking. I have a longer video of the teamLab Planets show here: artjouer.wordpress.com/2018/08/21/teamlab-planets-tokyo
Nekobukuro This was an unplanned visit. While visiting the Tokyu Hands Department store to buy souvenirs, we noticed that there was a cat playground there, so we decided to check it out.
Ueno Park We went on a Sunday and they had a little flea market there. We also visited one of the temples there (Shinobazunoike Bentendo) but did not stay long because of the heat.
Senso-ji in Asakusa After visiting Ueno park we went to this large temple complex. That evening was the Sumida Fireworks festival, so a lot of people had taken the opportunity to get dressed up in traditional Japanese attire.
The restaurants These were chosen by my daughter. A few of them were Ikebukuro—which is a fairly popular shopping district—because our hotel was close by.

I played this song on a Korg M50 Synth. The composition was inspired by all the problems we have been facing during 2020. It has a somewhat sad mood but includes key changes to major keys in order to show a feeling of hope.
Overall the effect is meant to be relaxing, kind of a like a lullaby for our troubled times.
The photos and video were taken in and around Wu Kai Sha—an area in Hong Kong's New Territories where I lived for a couple of years.

About the video: My children and I shot the video footage. This video features Ball Ball, our lovely Pomeranian. We shot the footage last year when he was still a puppy. Now he is quite a bit larger, though he is still quite small. Originally, I had planned to call him Jon Snow of House Pomeranian, but I thought that 'snow' sounded too similar to 'no' and would cause him endless confusion.
The footage was mainly shot using a Sony NEX-7 camera.

About the Osaka Timlapse video: I shot the photos of the Osaka skyline as the sun was setting in the summer of 2016. The camera I was using—a Sony NEX-7—doesn't have an automatic timer, but it does have a time delay setting (e.g., the shutter will release a set time after pressing the button), so, in order to take the photos for the time-lapse, I had to press the shutter button for each photo. There is also a full dynamic range version available; this one has greater contrast between the quieter and louder sections: longzijun.wordpress.com/2018/07/09/free-background-music-40
About the song Kate has described her inspiration for the song: “It's called 'Tale of the Forgotten Forest Kingdom'. I had this picture in mind when creating the piece: a wayward traveler stumbles upon a forest fairy and follows her into the ruins of the forgotten forest kingdom; the former glory of the kingdom can still be seen among the statues and columns (the middle, loud part of the music), but eventually even the magical beings (the fairies) abandon the castle and the legend of the forest kingdom fades away into nothing but folklore and memory (as represented by the pianissimo ending)."

Somewhere Deep in the Sea Composed and performed by Jessica Yip Produced by longzijun
About the Song Jessica is one of our channels’ guest artists. This is a gentle piano song that is suitable for use as a soundtrack for touching, tranquil or nostalgic scenes.
The song was recorded using a Yamaha Clavinova. Jessica has a very light touch when playing the piano, so even during the climactic moments the song keeps its tender mood. Two versions are available. The one in this video has been slightly compressed to reduce the dynamic contrast (basically this means that the softer parts become a little louder). There is also version with the full dynamic range version available (This version has greater contrast between the quieter and louder sections).
About the Video: The video is comprised of: a) A music visualizer effect I created in Adobe After Effects using the Music Spectrum effect. I attached that to a circular mask and then animated it further using the Griddle effect. I quite like the final visualizer. It is almost like the graphics are producing the music rather than simply responding to it. The title text was also also animated in After Effects using one of the text animation presets. b) Water footage published under a CC0 (“no rights reserved”) licenses c) A background texture by myfreetextures (http://www.myfreetextures.com) published under a CC attribution license.Hollys Theme: Free Background Music 37 & Contemporary Dance Videomusic by longzijun2017-08-01 | This solo piano instrumental is the 37th song in the Free Background Music series and the 1st song in the Kinesonic Program series (a collaborative project involving dancers and musicians)

About the recording and editing The video was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro and I recorded the song using Cakewalk’s Sonar Home Studio. I used loops for the more rhythmic parts like drums beats, the main bass line and the funk guitar parts. To create most of the melodies, counter-melodies, arpeggios, other bass lines and harmony parts, I played a Korg M50 synthesizer.
This is a song I have been working on for a while. The composition is by myself (longzijun). I also shot and edited the video and did the audio recording.
Music Style This is a gentle and somewhat sad piano song. It is influenced by classical minuets and has the ABA structure and 3/4 time signature associated with that form. However, the arrangement is rather sparse, giving the song a more contemporary feel. As the melody is prominent, the song is more suitable for wordless videos. If used in vlogs, the melody may be distracting.
About the Song This song is about the end of a friendship. Sometimes friendships simply fade away; sometimes they quickly disintegrate, leaving at least one person one hurt and bewildered. This song is about the second kind of ending and was written after a friendship suddenly fell apart. The Mercury Tale by Jessica Yip (Short Instrumental 15)music by longzijun2015-10-09 | Music by Jessica Yip. Music composition and recording: I recorded this song on Cakewalk's Home Studio. Most of the parts were played on a Korg M50 synthesizer. I also played alto saxophone in one section. The percussion parts were built up from pre-recorded loops.
The song is influenced by some African styles, most notably Juju music. You can hear some of the following elements: a) Use of a strictly pentatonic scale (meaning there are no Western-music-style chords) b) An interplay between melodic instruments playing rhythmic lines and pitched percussion instruments. There is not such a clear distinction between rhythm and melody. c) A song structure that doesn't really on the usual verse, chorus and bridge structure
Of course, there are electronic music influences as well, such as the music in the album by David Byrne and Brian Eno--My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (which is also influenced by African sounds and rhythms).
The song was composed as a companion piece to my most popular song: Dreams, which was loosely inspired by Balinese Gamelan music: youtube=youtube.com/watch?v=QRtHl9n-G3oIntro Theme Music 06 (Version 2): 20 Secondsmusic by longzijun2014-03-24 | Photo and music by longzijun. The music was played on a Korg Microx Keyboard (a mini 2-ocatve synthesizer and the different parts were mixed using CakeWalk's home studio. About the Video The photos are of street art (낙서) in the Hongdae (홍대앞) district of Seoul, South Korea. This is a shopping, café and nightlife area near Hongik University. You can view the entire series of graffiti images in Google Photos: photos.app.goo.gl/gGt8iApbK8av9dsf9
If you are familiar with the graffiti artists on display, do let me know who is responsible for the artwork in the video. It would be good to give credit to the individual artists.
About the Music The music is inspired by early eighties dub (like Sly and Robbie), but the tempo is slightly faster, the arrangement is far busier and there is less reverb. In any case, this is where the song's roots lie. I first used a more reggae-sounding drum pattern, but I wanted to move it away from the traditional Jamaican sound. Most of the instruments were recorded using a Korg M50 synthesizer, while the percussion and drum loops and some guitar sounds came from pre-recorded loops from (Sound Pool Collection 14, Sony, Computer Music Magazine).
Software used: Music recording: Cakewalk Sonar Home Studio Mastering: Magix Audio Cleaning Lab (this isn't really meant for mastering, but I find it can add a bit of energy to the tracks) Video Editing: Premiere Pro Animation (the few seconds where the 'face' starts to speak): Crazy TalkEchoes & Fragments: Gentle piano songmusic by longzijun2014-01-01 | Music, video and photos by longzijun. About the Video The photos are taken around Hong Kong and focus on the homeless situation here. Though Hong Kong is a rich city, there is a high level of income inequality. To compound the problem, even tiny apartments are expensive to rent and their is a long waiting list for public housing. Quite a few people just fall through the cracks. The photos can be viewed in my Google Photos album: photos.app.goo.gl/DQmcdJsS5wrUUBTQA
About the Music This song is in a minimalist style and could be considered classical music or new age music. If you like this style, you should check out the music of Ludovico Einaudi, who is the master of this kind of style. It was played on a Korg M50 synthesizer and recorded using Cakewalk's Sonar Home Studio.Upbeat Jazz Intro Music for Videos (18 seconds, 4 different arrangements)music by longzijun2013-11-03 | Upbeat jazz music for intros, credits and short videos. In this song, I am going for a Joe Hisaishi (who often composes scores for Hayao Miyazaki) kind of sound. The mood is nostalgic but still a little sweet.
The teddy bears were donated to our school studio by a student a few years ago (maybe she had outgrown them). They occasionally help out by appearing as actors and models in our videos. The photos in this video were mainly shot at the school's Creative Media Studio and English Corner as well as some other places around campus. For this video, the bears also went on an outing to Ma On Shan (in Hong Kong).
The guitar, bass, violin, flute, vibraphone, bells and ney parts were played on a Korg M50 while the drum parts are from loops. This was my first try at a time lapse video. It was a trial and error kind of experiment. I learned that I should take the photos at shorter time intervals, set the focus manually (so the camera doesn't have to auto-focus before each shutter release) and bring more clothing if I am going to sit by the seaside for such a long time! I quite like the dancing barges towards the end. I will definitely do a longer harbor scene in the future. I had thought about whether I should correct the exposure in the opening sunset part so that the non-sun part of the photo wouldn't be so dark, but I was curious about what would happen once the sun actually set (the sea and sky became much lighter, which was kind of interesting).

This background music song is part of a series of instrumental music tracks done as background music for videos and other multimedia projects. The images are photos of the Locks of Love (사랑의 자물쇠), the love padlocks at N. Seoul Tower (N서울타워) on Namsan Mountain in Seoul, South Korea. People are encouraged to dedicate their old padlocks and phones to someone they love, so each lock in the wall is supposed to represent a kind of everlasting love. It was quite touching to she so many love padlocks; I hope most of their 'love stories' had a good ending. This blog has interesting photos of the mostly naked wall just as it is starting to collect padlocks: http://www.buhaykorea.com/2009/04/10/n-seoul-towers-locks-of-love
This BGM composition is part of a series of instrumental music tracks done as background music for various videos. This royalty-free song is probably better suited to wordless videos as the romantic melody is quite prominent and there is a pretty large dynamic range for a background music track.

The video is Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong and was taken on board the Star Ferry and at the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade. If you do get the chance to visit Hong Kong, do take the 5-minute ferry ride. Though it's really inexpensive, its one of the top attractions here.
The music was composed using loops for the drum and percussion parts and a Korg M50 for the other parts. It was recorded and edited using Sonar Home Studio. It is a relaxing, chill-out instrumental with an oriental-sounding melody.
This music was originally created for a school promotional video for a newly set up Geographical Information Systems Lab / Oral Discussion booths (hence the name of the song).

The music is very simple--just an series of eight chords played using arpeggios. I may work on developing it into a longer version. The piano part was played on a Yamaha Clavinova with the string part played on a Kog MicroX synthesizer.

This song was originally created as background music for the video 'Pages of Life: A Documentary about the Working Elderly' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHYtEaWfZVM). In that video, two men are interview. One sells snacks and one repairs watches. This is why the song is entitled Snacks & Watches.
The song is quite long and can also be used as background music for study, work and relaxation.
The composition mainly uses loops (drums, bass, percussion, guitar, some keyboards) with some parts (keyboards, bass, flute, strings) recorded using a Korg M50 synthesizer.
The video is processed footage of afternoon sunlight reflecting off a river and onto a wall beneath a bridge. The colors were then inverted with some additional effects added (After Effect CS4). The footage was taken using a Digital Harinezumi 2++ (something like a digital version of a lomographic camera)
#longzijun #RoyaltyFreeMusic #FreeBackgroundMusicElegymusic by longzijun2012-04-13 | Elegy is a piece I wrote for a former student who passed away suddenly earlier this year. Another student, after listening to the composition, said that it didn't sound tragic enough for an elegy; however when I was writing the song, I was trying to avoid a heavy, tragic feel. The circumstances were already sad enough, so I wanted to a lighter touch to reflect her cheerful, sweet nature while alive.
Though it is a personal song, I have decided to include it in the background music collection (as a way of spreading her song).

I haven't done a rock song or loop-based song for a while, so I did both for this track. Most of the drum, bass and guitar loops are from the Computer Music Magazine CD (issue #151). The guitar solo loops are from SoundPool and there are a couple of other loops from other collections. The loops were edited and assembled using Sonar Home Studio.
