Sheena Douglass Crafters AcademyIm excited to show you this technique but firstly have you watched Part 1 which is the necessary prep for the following video. You will find it in my play list!
Please fast forward the first couple of minutes as we had audio issues, then let the fun begin!
To follow along with this technique, you can use any stencil and stamps of your choice, not just my products! Simply apply the same theory as you follow along. I've used my collections entitled 'Shaping up Nature' here. I've also chosen to use ink pads and water colours as my colouring products but again you are free to choose whatever colouring product you would like to use.
To stamp your images, I recommend a waterproof ink such as Versafine. if you are using ink pads to colour or make backgrounds within the aperture, I recommend something like Distress Inkpads.
I used watercolours in this video too so you would need clean water in a pot and a round watercolour paint brush, size 8 works well. Have a rag or kitchen roll handy too to blot off excess water from your brush
I recommend watching the tutorial, making some notes then try out the technique following along if needed.
However you chose to do it, enjoy. The Freezer paper, double exposure technique is a cracker that you're going to love and it'll certainly wow your friends
Lastly, you can find me live on Create and Craft TV, on my main Facebook Page: Sheena Douglass and for more samples, videos, tips, hints and friendly crafty people, join me and Team Sheena on my Facebook Group: Sheena's Ink-ettes and make firm friends with over 7,200 other group members Enjoy the video and thank you for joining me! I used and would recommend: A large stamp of your choice (restricted only by the size of the stamping platform) Distress Ink (light colour) Good quality white card stock or watercolour card (Willow cardstock) Faber Castell water colour pencils (or other high quality product) Watercolour brushes Water pot x2 with clean water Blotting paper such as kitchen towelSheena Douglass IsoInk4 - PyrographySheena Douglass Crafters Academy2020-04-16 | I wanted to introduce something a bit different during our COVID-19 'Lockdown' that I've named IsoInk (Isolation Inkspiration!) I thought we'd try out some PYROGRAPHY (Wood burning artwork) In this demo I use: Razor Tip pyrography machine (a less expensive machine will also suffice if you are new to pyrography) I am burning on real Pine wood slices that I have hand sanded smooth and the image has been stamped using Pumice stone 'Distress' Ink pad. The stamp I have used is a Sheena Douglass design but of course any stamp will work that fits to the wood slice size. Sometimes, the finished burning is sufficient and looks great just waxed (3 coats of Briwax or other good furniture real wax) There are occasions where the image will benefit from adding colour - I have experimented with watercolour pencils to great effect! This is fully covered in IsoInk5 (separate demo video on this channel) Watch, Enjoy and have a go, its great fun and fab as little gifts for wedding favours, Christenings, birthday gifts, housewarmings and even Christmas decorations!
Love Sheena xxIsoInk5 - When Watercolour Meets PyrographySheena Douglass Crafters Academy2020-04-16 | Following on from sharing some wood burning (Pyrography) in the last demo video, in this session I want to introduce some watercolours. The watercolours I'm using are: Faber Castell I have previously drawn on to pine slices using my Razor Tip pyrography machine, having pre-stamped my image using a very light coloured 'Distress Ink' (Pumice Stone). Make a colour palette on card using the watercolour pencils and add water to the colour as you pick it up from the card. Dry the colour on the wood using a craft heat-gun as you progress through each colour. The colour choices are of course yours; Just play! Regarding the background, I use a 'wet in to wet technique as I Ould colouring an image on watercolour card; the process is essentially the same. Dry with a heat-gun. Once you have finished colouring the burnt image, consider using watered down 'Gouache' as your highlight if you think the image needs it in places. Finally wax the dry finished image using a good quality wax. I use Briwax 'clear' Apply 3-4 layers to make a hardened and glossy finish to your artwork Enjoy Sheena xxcolouring pyrography pre liveSheena Douglass Crafters Academy2020-04-16 | Don't forget to join me tonight LIVE Thursday 16th April at 6pm xNew & Updated Caught In Crystal crafting technique for 2020Sheena Douglass Crafters Academy2020-04-14 | Join Sheena Douglass, The Queen of Messy Crafting, for professional tips on the updated Caught in Crystal crafting, card making technique.Drawing digitally for the Craft IndustrySheena Douglass Crafters Academy2019-10-23 | Sheena takes us behind the scenes of designing for the Craft Industry. Sheena shares one of the incredible digital hand drawing techniques used widely in the design industry today. Using an Apple iPad Pro and a reference picture, Sheena demos one of the techniques used to digitally draw and designing a stamp, dispelling the myth and rumour that using digital aids is not hand drawing! On the contrary, the skill of the artist is still very much required! The hand held stylus acts just the same as a pencil or pen nib used in traditional drawing. Sheena explains the processes she uses as the drawing comes to life, which in this case includes legitimate partial outline 'tracing techniques' before hand detailing is applied. Sheena's style of design is 'realism'. 'Outline tracing' has been used for centuries; firstly by the art worlds 'greats' and is today a recognised technique, used amongst many other techniques, to establish accurate 'form' and 'proportion' before proceeding to apply further hand drawn detail. This is demonstration is not a real stamp but has been drawn by Sheena to answer the question of whether tracing can be legitimately used. In this example, she explains that the outline element which she calls 'mapping out' is necessary as the final image which makes up a drawing of a 'real person' has to be accurate in its outline detail in order to make it realistic and closely resemble the person. fractions a millimetre in the placement of eyes, nose, mouth, head width etc, she explains, is what makes us all look different! In todays crafting industry, many designers (not all) will draw digitally for speed and accuracy, having the added advantage of being able to delete/re-do over having to start again in traditional artwork. (Permission to use the reference picture was sought and given for this demonstation)Masterclass 3 - Just Pearls on VelumSheena Douglass Crafters Academy2018-08-21 | using the Anemone die from the 'In Full Bloom Set' Sheena creates a stunning versatile card using 'Just Pearls' from Imagination Craft, adding her own little touch of magic in the application technique.
