Ultra Enzo Korn Self Titled album but with the SM64 soundfont and with music sheet of the midis.

Due to the popularity of the Follow the Leader album with the SM64 soundfont, I have been requested to do other songs of course. One that seemed to pop up several times that would be possible is Korn's self titled album. I was thankfully able to find midis for the whole album thanks to this user who made their self titled with Ocarina of Time soundfont.

I also have been reading the comments and looks like you all really want the WHOLE album to be included as well as wanting the full versions of songs. I thought I'd try to put full blown effort into making the midis sound authentic. I was happy with the final results but man this took so long. Last two weeks I spent most of my free time working on this. I'm sorry I absolutely can not do this again. I'll try to make more of the soundfonts in the future but I can't promise that I would spend a lot of time working on it again.

To list of some changes I made, I added some vocal tracks from scratch to some of the songs. Some had references so that was helpful. Those that didn't I tried to guess the pitch by ear. Fixed some of the guitar and bass rhythms so it sounds more like the original. I rewrote or added to the drums in many of the tracks. The drums go so hard and are super unique in its sound I love it and I'm not even a drummer I'm a guitar player.

This was the first time I listened to the whole album, never really listened to KoRn prior to making these Mario 64 soundfont videos. I only heard a few of their hit singles but thats it. This group makes pretty great music, love the rhythm and heaviness in the guitars, it's very fun to play! Thank you all for helping me discover a group I would not have listened to on my own.

Korn Issues but with the Super Mario 64 Soundfont

This was another highly requested album. I was able to find some midis of the songs but for those I had to write from scratch. I was able to find some pretty accurate tabs. Any part I needed to do by ear was very minimal and for all the short interlude songs. I also included vocal tracks for consistency. Many of them I had to guess what the pitch and timing was but honestly I really don't know so I hope its not distracting.

I have to say I am honestly super burned out of doing this soundfont videos. So I'm not thinking of doing any new ones. I was thinking of remastering the Follow the Leader album but I am honestly really feeling over this so I am not not planning on doing it.

In terms of how I like the album, I have to say this album has some great tracks. I really like No Way and Beg for Me those are prob my two favorite tracks (excluding singles). I noticed though there were a decent number of interlude songs. I personally don't know why some artists make them, I guess its to change up the pace right? For me I never really cared for them and in this album their inclusion is fine, some have cool drum beats. But these aren't tracks I am going to put on repeat constantly like I would with some of the other full length tracks. I also like the sort of slogan they used for this album "People have issues, do you?" I think thats so cool.

If I had to rank the first 4 KoRn albums I listened to / made soundfont videos of, I would say self titled is def the best for me. I still have to listen to Follow the Leader more but I def say Issues is either 2nd or 3rd. Life is Peachy def 4th, its not a bad album and it did have some good songs on it. Idk I guess with my rock and metal music I really like the instruments having a lot of prominence and overall a lot of energy. Some rock and metal songs can be somber / emotional and still sound really great so I am not really sure how to describe my taste.

All these albums are great I am still really glad I was able to hear them through these soundfont videos. As I mentioned in the last video I honestly would not have listened to KoRns discography if it was not for the soundfont videos. Simply because I didn't care to hear more from their albums at that time. I heard some of their singles on one of those alt rock radio stations but I never went further than that.

Another song that i didnt have a midi to work with. Pretty much wrote from scratch. Tried to use some tab reference for guitar, bass and drums. Sadly these were not as good as the tabs I was able to use for Swallow. I tried to interpret some of the notes such as the bass line and the bend on the guitar near the end of the song. For the vocals I just guessed. I think this turned out well.

Korn Lost but with the Super Mario 64 Soundfont

Did not have a midi to work with, wrote from scratch. Used a tab for the guitar rhythm part. I made the bass go off of the guitars and for the one bass solo I tried to write it by ear. The rhythm guitar part reference was also not perfect with understanding how to write the rhythm but I listened to the song slowed down and again, tried to replicate by ear. Drums I did by ear just listening I think I was able to get it done well. This track has a consistent drum line. Vocals I, of course, wrote by ear. Def not pitch perfect. I was focusing more on the instrumentation sounding pitch perfect. I'm pretty happy with the result.

Korn Life Is Peachy but with the Super Mario 64 Soundfont

Whelp I did it again and made another KoRn album with this soundfont. I noticed I received a lot of requests to do this album and the Issues album. I wasn't sure which to tackle first. Initially researching I found that Life is Peachy is a fan favorite album but critiques like Issues better. It also seems that Life is Peachy was dark and heavy like the self titled and albums afterwards did not have that "raw" sound.

Doing these videos is my first time listening to KoRn other than hearing a few of their hit singles. I have to say this album is pretty cool, has some fun riffs to play on guitar. I personally really like the self titled album I would say I probably like that one more than Life is Peachy. As for Follow the Leader, I haven't really listened to it a lot so I should probably listen to it more to see which of the albums I enjoy hearing.

In terms of working on the album, I made sure to take my time. I spent a little bit of my free time to make this and looks like it took about a month to do. In terms of the work I did I had to edit some of the drums, bass and guitar tracks. Most vocal tracks I had to write from scratch / guess the pitch. Some of the midis already had the work done for me but not all.

And then there's Swallow and Wicked. Both of these tracks I couldn't find a midi to work. I was able to find tabs for bass, guitar, and drums but they were as barebones as you can get. I remembered when I didn't include the two tracks in the Follow the Leader album I got so many comments asking why I didn't include them (because I couldn't find the midi to work with).

After making some of these soundfont videos I have been getting a bit comfortable listening to some parts of the song and guessing the timing within the melody or even the notation (such as what I have done with some drum tracks previously). So I thought I would try that with these two tracks on this album and honestly I'm pretty proud of what I accomplished I think they sound pretty accurate to the original and are enjoyable to listen to.

Also wanted to mention for the thumbnail I saw a comment suggesting I put Peach in it but honestly I totally forgot the comment until I was putting this final video together. Sorry! So when I was making the thumbnail I always like including Mario (since its Mario 64 soundfont) and in terms of a character behind him I was going to do Metal Mario but thought that would be too basic. So I then realized that Lakitu is always behind you and I figured that the original Life is Peachy album cover is supposed to depict this idea of something always being behind you without you noticing. In Mario 64 Lakitu with the camera is always behind you, the game only makes note of it in a few instances. So I thought putting Lakitu would be funny.

The Midi was very strangely in double tempo to the original song. I wasn't able to translate the whole thing to the correct tempo without messing up the notes so I decided I'll just keep it as is and work with.

In terms of specific changes, I rewrote the whole drum track. I was able to find a tab and music sheet reference for it. Korn's original drummer David Silveria had pretty complex drumming patterns which sound way different than the basic midi drum patterns so thought I'd translate that. I also fixed the vocal range and updated the guitar parts such as the bends.
