TERA MMORPG shut down on June 30, 2022. Hours before the end users gathered together for one last sendoff - a party and fireworks shootoff at the beach. Here's 30 minutes of it :)

The Windows version of the game uses MIDI files for the soundtrack. The MacOS version instead plays pre-recorded AIFF versions of the music, 16-bit 11025hz. Chris Groegler says this about the gear used for the recorded versions:
"Holy cow that is a blast from the past!! Good detective work finding me π I wish I could tell you that I totally remember what I used but I donβt remember fully. I own a JV-1080 and used that on a ton of stuff so most likely it would be that. Actually still have that same 1080!"

For a bit of fun we also tried to synthesise the voice of a well known American politician from audio freely available on the web. The quality of the voice is badly affected by the poor nature of much of the audio used to make it, but it demonstrates that no one is really safe from the power of speech synthesis.
"The people of America must have good speech technology. CereProc makes the best system in the world. Trust me, I'm the president of the United States of America."

1:51:14 - Credits
* To change the pitch: enter !XXX (where XXX is a number from 20 to 127). Lower values are higher pitched. Too high, and there may be issues.
* To change the speed: enter %XXX (same as above: a number from 20 to 127). Lower values are for faster reads.
* To switch to Phoneme Mode, enter a single period. Now you may type phonemes directly.
* In Phoneme Mode, you can pitch up or down individual phonemes by following them with a number 1-9. Useful for inflection... or singing...
* You can also use less-than or greater-than signs to lengthen or shorten a phoneme. I don't seem to be able to combine number with length, though.
* Special phonemes "Q", space, comma, period introduce pauses of various lengths.
* A single period returns you to text mode.
It is also possible to keep typing off the edge of the screen, and ST-SPEECH will read it all, but too many phonemes produced will cause a buffer overflow and crash the program.

This is a virtual tour of the
Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, which
is a physics accelerator that began operation in 1999.
This traces the acceleration of a single gold ion from its origin in a
set of tandem accelerators, to its point of collision within the collider.
Also modeled are the 4 experiments that will be taking data at the collider
later this year. The second half of the movie zooms in on each
of these experiments.
VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS:
Sit back and enjoy.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED:
The entire animation was created using Pov-Ray 3.1 within its editor.
The clock variable was used heavily here with the movie
divided into sequences for a modular approach to its construction
for easy modification. The title page was created by editing the Pov-Ray
output file within Adobe PhotoDeluxe.
