Coyote, Fox or Coywolf On Game Camera Video? Hunting Gold! 2014-01-26 | Is this a coyote, a fox or a coywolf (eastern coyote)? This image showed up on the trail camera. At first I thought that we have another fox on video, but after further review, it looked too large to be a fox. There are coyote in Virginia, but I don't see them much in central Virginia. I have lived in Pennsylvania and Canada, where there are no shortage of coyote running wild. You can hear them "laughing" in the woods all the time. We also have the hybrid coywolf, otherwise known as the Eastern Coyote, traveling further south. The coywolf is what it sounds like, a western coyote bred with a wolf. There are areas all over North America with a coyote population, but I have not seen or heard around the farm here only thirty minutes from the city of Richmond and that's why I was a little shocked to see one on the game camera. Eastern coyote or coywolf are behaving slightly different as they tend to much smarter than the average coyote. The Moultrie claims it records in 720 HD, but the processor just takes a 480 and digitally zooms it to be the size of a 720 HD format. Pretty shady if you ask me. This is obvious by the video quality seen here. Maybe I can get some better images of the coywolf in our area to share with you. Metal Detecting SILVER Treasure Barber Half Dollar Hunting Gold! 2019-06-11 | Found this 1907 Silver Barber Half Dollar while metal detecting with my XP Deus. As you can see in this video, the silver half dollar was only a few inches under ground. I found the Barber half dollar along an old road which is now just a horse trail. I did some research to find this was more than just a path in the woods. This old civil war period road leads to the 1720s house that Fitzhugh Lee stayed in for a period of time during the civil war, using the house as his headquarters, according to the property owner. Fitzhugh Lee won the battle at Kelly's Ford which is about 45 minutes from the property where this silver barber half dollar was found. The value of the 1907 Barber Half Dollar is about $17 in circulated condition as of June 2019. The Barber Half Dollar contains 90% silver with a silver melt value = 0.3617 oz. x silver spot price.

There were 3 game video cameras set up in the area and two of the cameras captures this coyote/coywolf. There are coyote in Virginia, but I don't see them much in central Virginia. NICE Buck. Deer Hunting. Game Cameras Hunting Gold! 2014-12-13 | This big buck doesn't mind the infrared light from the Browning game camera. He knows something is not natural, but seems confident he is safe in the dark.The big whitetail buck doesn't mind the Browning game camera, but I do. This is the second "HD" camera that I bought and again I was totally lied to. There is nothing high definition about these cameras. I am not sure how they can get away with advertising this, but they do. The HD technology is very much available, but for some reason they leave it out of the camera and put it on the box.For hunting and scouting the Browning game camera is decent other than the fact it doesn't work when the temperature gets in the 20s. What? How can a game camera only be good for use in the southern states? All the game cameras in the $150 price range are China made garbage with pretty much the same cheap camera electronics inside. I love to see what's going on in the woods and that is primarily why I bought this Browning camera. It would be nice to have seen nature in HD in my own backyard like the discovery channel, but looks like I'll have to go out myself with my own camera and hide.

Black Bear Tracks Hanover County Virginia. Feb 15th 2014 Hunting Gold! 2014-02-16 | Black Bears are found in North American. The scientific name is Ursus americanus, which means American Bear. They range mostly in heavily wooded areas where there is an abundance of food and water. The black bear, brown bear and the polar bear are the three species of bear that live in North America. Black bears occupy at least 40 of the U.S. states. Full grown adult black bears measure approximately 4 to 7 feet from head to tail. Females typically weigh 100 to 250 lbs. and male bears weigh 150 to 500 pounds, although they can grow even larger. The black bear has no natural predator, but the cubs can be taken by fox, coyotes, coywolf, bobcats, dog and even other bears. Black bears can live up to 30 years in the wild. A bears lives and average of 20-25 years, but can live into their 30s. Black bears are excellent climbers, as well as good swimmers and can reach speeds in excess of 30 mph.How well does a bear smell?A bear relies largely on it's super keen sense of smell to thrive. A bear can smell up to 20 miles away. Bears are believed to have the most sensitive nose of all animals. A bear can smell 7 times better than a blood hound and 2,000 times better than a human. This is why it's so important to clean up and burn trash when camping out in the wilderness where the only protection between you and the bear is a tent. Food scraps should be sealed in containers such as a Ziploc bag and taken as far from the camp as possible. It is even a better idea to take that extra step to burry the scraps far from your living area. When bears are fed by humans, they become desensitized to their inherent fear and associate as a source of food. Although bear attacks are rare and you are five times more likely to be killed by a dog or 30 times more likely to be killed a lighting strike, it's better to be safe than sorry. A bear's keen sense of smell allows them to locate food, mates, other bears and keep track of their cubs.What Do Bears Eat?Bears are considered omnivorous, meaning they eat vegetation and meat. Black bears eat a variety of food such as nectar, fruit, plants, berries, nuts, insects, meat and roots. Bear are not know to be predators, but are opportunistic feeders and can take a live animal if the situation presents itself. A bear is more likely to feed on a carcass rather than attack live prey. If they do seek live animals, they are more likely to take babies. When a bear attacks a human, it's not because they want to eat the human, but more likely because he feels challenged or threatened.Black bears mating factsFemale bears reach sexual maturity at around 3-4 years as males start breeding at 4-5 years of age. Sows (female bears) can give birth to 1-5 cubs. The bear has what is called a prolonged gestation period. This means that a the sow can hold an embryo until they are ready to release it into the uterus. The state in which an embryo is in limbo is called delayed implantation. Embryotic development is halted in a small mass of cells called a blastocyst. The embryo's delayed release into the uterus allows the sow plenty of time to manage her weight and overall health before the actual gestation period starts. When the embryos is finally released into the uterus, the actual gestation period of a bear is 7-8 weeks. The period from initial fertilization to actual birth, is around 7 months. Bears give birth to their cubs during hibernation at the end of January into February. The cubs are raised by their mother for up to 2 years, but average around 18 months. Bears typically breed in the summer months from June through August. Bear cubs are born almost hairless and weigh about 7 ounces. A bear's average weight varies from region to region, but a sow typically weighs around 150 to 300 lbs. and a boar can weigh 200 to 600 lbs. Black bears typically have a litter of cubs every other year. This is referred to as denning. They can choose just about anywhere to make a den. You can find a bear denning in places like, caves, large hollow trees, brush piles and man made structures. A black bear will choose, or make, a small enclosure to help trap heat closer to their body. A bear's heart rate, breathing and body temperature lowers so they can conserve energy and body mass during this time. Their body temperature, typically 100F, can lower 20% while dormant and their heart rate may drop into the teens per minute. The dormant bear's breathing may lower from a typical 20 breaths per minute down to one breath every 45 seconds. Denning allows a black bear to survive the harsh winter conditions. They will enter the den between October and the end of the year. During this time they survive off metabolizing their own body fat. A black bear will not drink, eat, defecate or urinate in while their den.

This farm property in Virginia has an unbelievable amount of turkey. Listen close to here the sounds of the turkey and wild turkey calls. Turkey hunting here is not as popular as deer hunting since most of the hunters around the area are lazy and hunt with dogs. There are few serious truly skilled hunters here. In this area, 30 minutes north of Richmond, there are just a bunch of guys lined up on the edge of the property who run their dogs across private property to jump the deer to them. They probably don't even know how to hunt turkey. Virginia is a great place for turkey hunting and the proof is on the trail camera.

Whitetail Deer Trail Camera Hunting Gold! 2013-12-05 | These does must have heard or seen something as she pops her head back in front of the trail camera to get a better look or listen. This group of does have been seen in other places around the property. The same bucks seem to be showing up wherever these deer are. The bucks have been passing through right after midnight. It's like they have watches or something because they are almost predictable in their patterns. The deer were more on time during the rut, and have scattered a bit since things have slowed down, but that was to be expected once deer hunting pressure started in the area. The hunting dogs push these deer in all different directions as well. It makes this property difficult to hunt and it is very frustrating when someone with hunting dogs waste all the time and effort that you put scouting and setting up for you season. Especially when they are just trying to push the whitetail deer off your property and on to theirs. But it's legal and there is nothing you can do about unethical hunters. My opinion is, when you don't know how to hunt deer, you use dogs. There is no sport in hunting deer with dogs!
4 Does On Trail Camera Hunting Gold! 2013-12-05 | 4 does (white tail deer) don't seem to care about this carefully placed trail camera. I just set up this game camera, the morning before this video was captured. I guess I covered my scent pretty well. This trail camera is the Moultrie M-990i and it's horrible. OK, that's a little strong, how about not the best trail camera. The trigger is so delayed, the deer have to walk across it like a zombie across it to get a recording. A deer can trot right past the camera and all you get is 20 seconds on blank video. A walking deer you may catch his or her hind quarters. Exactly, his or her, you have this trail cam out there to see what kind of bucks are lurking around. I know this because my old camera shot great stills at the same time a I got blank video. Atypical Buck Moultrie Trail Camera Hunting Gold! 2013-12-02 | Whitetail Deer Hunting and Trail Cameras. This Atypical Buck doesn't give the Moultrie trail camera a second glance as he passes by the infrared light. I have seen video demonstrations where the deer seem to spook at the camera, but I think it's more of a placement issue than the flash or video light. Infrared is invisible to the eyes, but the camera technology allows us to view deer and other wood creatures at night on the trail cameras.I believe that if the trail camera is not already camouflage then adding some camo tape makes it much more undetectable. If I saw a shiny plastic black or pea green object show up in my living room, I sure as hell would notice. Camouflage your trail camera as you would camo yourself. You don't want to look like a plastic square in the woods so why would you place a camera on a tree to stand out like a sore thumb. I have tried placing the camera at different heights and they did seem to totally miss the trail camera when it was higher in the tree. Just make sure you have it aimed down where to want it. This can be difficult unless you have a LCD preview/aim screen, which the Moultrie M-990i trail camera is equipped with. If you are unsure about the aim, just go with chest level and do your best eyeballing.Thanks for watching. Whitetail Deer Hunting Season. Trail Camera Video Hunting Gold! 2013-12-02 | With the poor video imaging of the Moultrie M-990i, I can't tell if this is a doe or a spike buck, but if it was big enough then we would know if I had something worth hunting for.Whitetail Deer Hunting requires some serious preparation and time in the woods prior to opening day, if you are going for the trophy bucks. The start of hunting season for the big buck deer hunters begins well before you can officially take a bow or firearm in the woods. A serious whitetail deer hunter looks for breeding (the rut) and feeding patterns and other signs of activity well before he sets his stands up. A trail camera is essential for finding the big bucks and not wasting time on does and small bucks. Once you have located beds, trails, scrapes and rubs, start setting up the cameras. The more cameras, the better, obviously. These images give you a better idea of what you have in the area. You can now move the trail cameras until you spot that big elusive buck that seems to be a ghost in the night when he shows up on the trail camera just after midnight. Once you pin point his patterns, you can spend less time guessing and waiting around in the woods during the hunting season. While your fellow hunters set up in hopes they will just get lucky and the deer might just walk under their stand, you will be 10 steps ahead. Spending those months scouting the whitetail deer with trail cameras/game cameras before the start of the hunting season will increase your chances tremendously to impress your Facebook friends with that trophy buck. Your friends will be wasting the little time they have during the season guessing where the big bucks are going to pass. Start early with all this tracking because you want to make sure your scent and activity has vanished so they don't spot you. Don't be discouraged if you capture a lot of does on the game camera, because where there are does, there are bucks not far behind. The may be coming from a slightly different path, just out of the trail camera's view. Try moving the camera and maybe he will show. The bucks are there and if you are using just still imagery, they maybe have run by too fast for the camera's trigger. I prefer video for this very reason. I thought this was pretty funny that he performed this stunt right in front of the trail camera. You never know what kinds of images you are going to catch. I love the video because it tell a much better story. It seems like I get too many still shots where I can't see the rack or there is a blurry image of who knows what.Deer hunting season has begun in Virginia and the whitetail deer are on the run. There is a high traffic deer trail back there and I have recorded some great images of big buck this hunting season, fall of 2013. I originally placed the trail camera, aka game camera, in places where a black bear has been seen, in hopes of capturing his activity on the Moultrie M-990i Trail Camera.My Moultrie Trail Camera Review:I have only had this trail camera for about 6 weeks an have already encountered problems with it. In my latest card data transfer, I had about 1/3 of the 38 videos corrupted. They created a record that you can check the date and time in the properties tab but the video data was missing. This only started happening when the temperature reached 16 F. I have also missed some deer since the trigger is slow to respond to motion. It takes the deer to reach half way across or just running past the camera before recording half a deer or nothing at all. The main problem I had with this game camera was that it was advertised to be 720 HD, but it is 480 at best. The video is enlarged by the software much like an electronic zoom which causes great loss of video quality. If you are using the Moultrie M-990i trail camera for scouting your hunt and just getting an idea of the size of bucks and their activity times, then you don't care about video quality. I bought this camera, not only for hunting deer, but because I enjoy seeing wildlife in ways I normally wouldn't be able to and see animals that I didn't even know was living here. I paid the extra money for what I thought was a HD video trail camera. I could have purchased a trail camera for under $100 to get what the Moultrie M-990i game camera offers.I have not had problems with water damage yet, but The seals are poor and when I go to open the access door, water has leaked into the control and LCD interface. Maybe those video recordings were corrupt because water did get inside the unit, but I would be surprised it would have rebooted with no error code display if that was the case.I would not recommend the Moultrie M990i trail camera since it's a poor quality unit and advertised as HD when it is far from. Very disappointed they have gotten away with selling as so and I got tricked. If you can't believe the product description, what does that tell you? BIG Buck Moultrie Trail Camera. Whitetail Deer Hunting Gold! 2013-11-30 | This nice buck took his picture about 30 yards behind the house. Deer hunting season has begun in Virginia and the whitetail deer are on the run. There is a high traffic deer trail back there and I have recorded some great images of big buck this hunting season, fall of 2013. I originally placed the trail camera, aka game camera, in places where a black bear has been seen, in hopes of capturing his activity on the Moultrie M-990i Trail Camera.My Moultrie Trail Camera Review:I have only had this trail camera for about 6 weeks an have already encountered problems with it. In my latest card data transfer, I had about 1/3 of the 38 videos corrupted. They created a record that you can check the date and time in the properties tab but the video data was missing. This only started happening when the temperature reached 16 F. I have also missed some deer since the trigger is slow to respond to motion. It takes the deer to reach half way across or just running past the camera before recording half a deer or nothing at all. The main problem I had with this game camera was that it was advertised to be 720 HD, but it is 480 at best. The video is enlarged by the software much like an electronic zoom which causes great loss of video quality. If you are using the Moultrie M-990i trail camera for scouting your hunt and just getting an idea of the size of bucks and their activity times, then you don't care about video quality. I bought this camera, not only for hunting deer, but because I enjoy seeing wildlife in ways I normally wouldn't be able to and see animals that I didn't even know was living here. Raccoon Trap Caught On Trail Camera Hunting Gold! 2013-11-12 | We trapped this baby raccoon and caught it all on a trail camera. What do raccoons eat? Answer: Cat food left out (in this situation) and anything you put in the garbage. They are nocturnal scavengers. You will attract skunks and opossums as well. Setting out a trap may catch them, but unless you want a raccoon pet or are planning on destroying him, you better take him to the other side of the city because raccoons will easily come back within ten miles of relocation. Don't pay more than $150 retail for it. Local hunting stores in my area start the game cam at $199. We first noticed right off the bat there is an American flag on the side of the box indicating it was made in America, right? Wrong! Made in China like everything, but what do you expect for a price like this. Dirty little marketing trick in my opinion, but lets move on. Next dirty trick is claiming it's 720 HD. Common in Chinese made cameras, is the to digitally enlarge the image to play as the size of an HD image, but compromising picture quality by enlarging pixels. I am very disappointed they are getting away with this. There is no reason they can't offer true 720 HD for that price. On a positive note, the design is exceptional. It's very easy to view images in the field, although the LCD screen is of mediocre quality. Opening to access the game camera's control panel is perfect and changing batteries is way less of a hassle than the Cuddeback trail cameras I've had. Another good thing about having the LCD viewer, is aiming the game cameras in the field. The camera also features barometer readings, moon phases, records temperature, time/date and a manual GPS record. You have to manually put in the GPS coordinates . You can also enter your own trail camera name in the info bar and choose whether you want that bar shown on your video or pictures.Settings:You can set video to "HD" or VGA. The time between arming can be as little as 5 seconds. There is a time laps feature that only allows time laps at a period during sunset and sunrise. The camera programs itself by light for these times. In other words you can't just let it take pictures all day. No video option for time laps, just pictures. You can still allow motion detection in time laps mode so you don't miss a shot when watching feeding and rut patters. Battery life seems to be excellent. Girl Abducted By Aliens/UFO Sighting Hunting Gold! 2013-11-06 | This rare footage of an alien abduction caught on video. The security camera caught this UFO flying over the barn full of horses and a girl taking care of them. The oddest thing was the aliens/UFO caused portions of the video to freeze as if to try and erase or cut the footage out of the recording. The girl abducted was totally unaware of the alien abduction until she saw the footage on the security camera, a week later. She thinks they have erased her memory of the incident and says she has strange dreams to this day of strange encounters with aliens and thinks this may be what happened to her, but only remembering portions in dreams. Wild Turkey Hunting. Moultrie M-990i Game Camera Hunting Gold! 2013-11-05 | Wild Turkey Hunting 2013. I set up this game/trail camera to see the whitetail deer and wildlife on the hunting property. The turkey population is incredible here. There are tons of mature gobblers and hens pecking around. We captured hundreds of images of bucks, does, turkey and fox. There are bear too, but none caught on the Moultrie trail/game camera yet. We used the Moultrie M-990i game cam to captured these images. It claims to be 720 HD video, but it seems to use software that simply enlarges the picture. So if you are looking for an HD trail cam, you should look at the higher priced models. The recorded data strip is nice.
