CrankyTemplarA compilation of the bosses fought in Dave the Diver without taking damage (you lose chunks of oxygen whenever taking damage as you have no health bar) and the ending. After getting conned into running a sushi restaurant a series of additional missions are placed on Dave (usually in a less than polite way) that helps save an ancient civilization and make mad profits.
The sniper rifle certainly comes across as the best weapon against bosses due to the range and can be upgraded to level 3 once you can enter the depths (so before the wolf eel if you know what to gather). Combined with the charm for 15% extra gun damage this can cause bosses to die too fast (the wolf eel can be killed in two shots), so I generally tried to re-do and downgrade my weapon to let the bosses do a cycle of their attacks. This was also true for Klaus as the mission was given after beating the main game and the death sniper rifle trivializes that fight. In retrospect, hitless bosses with shorter range weapons would be more impressive but I'm overall happy with this.

It's pretty enjoyable and has plenty of goofy dialogue to entertain (maybe a little too much for tutorials). It's not particularly difficult but you do take pretty hefty amounts of damage from critters that makes dying really easy if you mess up. The jetpack is a good bit of fun to use but sadly there doesn't appear to be a dash for quick horizontal momentum.
Also, shurikens are a lot of fun to use but might be a bit OP.

When hired to explore the creepy haunted hotel to find a young lady's teen sister you're free to leave at any time and report back. Doing so at different points gives different letters to his client and different ranks.
Continuing as Yuhiko doesn't give any additional endings, as when she leaves the hotel it cuts to the credits and then your rank.
S rank is the same as A rank except that you cannot die at all during your playthrough.
Overall a fun little survival horror game but it is definitely for more mature audiences due to some pretty dark themes (and some nudity which I had to censor with the A rank ending).

#GhostAtDawnCreepy Tale 4 Demo - Creepy Fishing Becomes a New Creepy AdventureCrankyTemplar2023-10-10 | A quick playthrough of the demo for Creepy Tale 4 where Martin's creepy fishing is interrupted by a fish thief that escapes to "some other place" (which is probably worse than hell since the stakes were raised in the previous game in choice of location). Now he'll have to solve puzzles to presumably get home.
No deaths in this demo but it does offer a glimpse at some of the puzzles. As always, it looks good and should be fun to play when the full game releases. At least there's also a fishing mini-game confirmed.
#GhostAtDawnKingdom Shell - All Bosses (No Damage) and EndingCrankyTemplar2023-10-07 | Defeating all the bosses in Kingdom Shell without taking damage and the ending. When the barrier protecting the kingdom falls and nightmares begin pouring in without the proper paperwork it's up to one half-demon kid recently on parole to clean up the town.
Overall a well-done Metroidvania that adds in some fun platforming with dash/bounce effects from striking objects in addition to your eventual gain of double jump and air dash. The music and pixel art are enjoyable and it has some alternate game play segments (such as the shooter portion for the Illusion Core boss). There's a normal and easy mode but I'm not sure what easy changes. You take quite a bit of damage from enemies and your healing potion has to be purchased or found in chests until finding a late-game upgrade to refresh at save points. Death is a slap on the wrist as you keep your progress and lose something like 8% of your current coins.
My thanks to the developer Cup of Pixels, not only for the key (my first time using Keymailer), but also for the help finding the final chess piece to fight the Chessmaster boss (although I'm not sure what chess rules that guy is using).

#kingdomshellStay - All EndingsCrankyTemplar2023-10-05 | A compilation of all seven endings in Stay and the dialogue leading up to each ending. Quinn is kidnapped by a mysterious assailant and you communicate via Discord on computer and phone to provide advice but you can also cheer Quinn up or leave him a broken shell of a man by the end. The main gimmick of the game is time away from the game is tracked until you finish a playthrough and it usually doesn't end well for Quinn if you don't stay.
The game eventually develops audio issues when skipping through text leading to silence or the wrong music playing, so for the Bargaining and Anger endings I ended up just having to put the right music in for both. I also slowed down the dialogue for the Anger ending as I skipped through the first set pretty quickly - hopefully it's readable.
One of the most frustrating parts of the game is it's not clear what the conditions for endings are. Some of them, like the main ending and ones like Anger or Isolation are easy to get but others can be a pain.

#stayStay - Death & Game Over AnimationsCrankyTemplar2023-10-05 | A compilation of the game over segments where either you give Quinn really bad advice and get them killed or piss them off to the point that they give up. When Quinn is kidnapped by a mysterious assailant and you're the only one who can provide help via Discord on a computer (and later phone) you need to stay and guide him to safety, preferably with also not saying stuff that will get you to the end with a bad ending. The game tracks your time away and heading out for a good while will typically end with a bad ending when finishing a playthrough.
There's a lot of dialogue and Quinn is very wordy so I'll likely opt to upload the conversations leading to these game overs at a later time, particularly as some dialogue options lead to the same game over animation or there's multiple ways to get the same death. I'll also put up the endings at some point.
There is one missing death where Quinn takes a chute and ends in a garbage compactor similar to Star Wars. Unfortunately this is not present in the Steam version and I don't want to buy a Switch copy just for a single death.
Note that if you leave the counter running for enough time in one stretch (I think it's about 20-24 hours) then you'll come back to Quinn saying some stuff before breaking the computer or phone for a game over. You'll have to restart the chapter but continue as normal. When I left a run going for several weeks I came back to find Quinn's skeleton.

#backrooms #insidethebackroomsAttack of the Karens - Playthrough & Ending (No Commentary)CrankyTemplar2023-09-26 | A full playthrough of Attack of the Karens, where an alien pathogen gives various Karens cyborg powers to ruin the world and not even speaking to a manager can stop their rampage. This run is with almost everything maxed out although it's not my first successful clear.
Overall, this is a short but enjoyable game. Karen memes aside, the game is very generous on dropping the currency for permanent upgrades so you max out abilities quickly. Boss abilities scale based on the order you face them and it's shuffled each run, so Marva as the first boss would be slower and use less bullets compared to facing her as the fourth boss. Likewise, there are six levels that get randomly shuffled for a run although these largely play out the same with the exception of different enemy types.
There are also penalties and bonuses that can be assigned to tweak difficulty which can also add a bit of replayability, although once you've completed a successful run there's not much else besides achievement hunting. While this run was a breeze, adding all of the penalties to a run makes the game significantly more challenging.
I do think the run-specific upgrades for level ups seem a bit too strong for some of them, as Spray Shield and Paramedic Bot (especially if you max both out) make it very hard to fail a run.
My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/bnv3V6t twitter.com/CrankyTemplarGunbrella - All Bosses (No Damage) & EndingsCrankyTemplar2023-09-24 | A compilation of the bosses to Gunbrella beaten without taking damage and both main endings. After your wife is murdered and your kid stolen you use your all-in-one mobility and murder item to seek revenge. Whether you live or not to see the end depends on whether you like holding on to New Age crystals.
Several bosses (i.e. Dregs, The Beast, and Crash) have very exploitable patterns or your dash can interrupt their attacks to keep them from doing much at all. The Hole Puncher boss can be killed without it being able to do anything. Cogs for upgrading don't become very common until after the Crude Mines at which point it's easy to max out damage and blaze through the game.
The good ending occurs if you get the gem from the Cult-45 base after defeating Baby and hold on to it for the rest of the game. If you don't get it or give it to the Merchant or Sewert you get the bad ending.
Overall, a quick and enjoyable little game if you're simply playing through. For all the achievements you have to finish the game with the good ending and then do two additional playthroughs giving the gem to the Merchant and Sewert and talking to both of them after finishing the mines.

If you steal food and babies from axolotls, be sure to also steal their firearms or you'll regret it.
I'm not too familiar with this genre and mostly tried this for the humor. Overall it's pretty fun but unfortunately once you beat the game there's really nothing post-game besides unlocking more abilities and raising axolotl kids. The axolotl baby stuff is kind of unnecessary except for the Dark Crystal stuff for permanent upgrades (which kind of defeats the point of raising them) as new adult axolotls are basically palette swaps that you can set abilities for if you got enough food from the biomes and your starter character already has good stats and abilities.
Some power-ups are buggy or don't synergize very well and, unfortunately, you don't really learn that until you're stuck with something. Other powerups (like Gluttonous Rounds for 80% extra damage at the cost of a small speed penalty and bullets moving slower) are really powerful. Melee weapons in particular are plenty good since they have high damage and destroy bullets which kind of pushes you to carry a melee weapon as your secondary and ignore all the other guns that drop.

After being revived in the second game Jennifer goes to her grandparents' house to find more answers about her family and find a more permanent solution against Malus when demons once again show up. It's a well made free point-and-click adventure game with combat that uses music from other games.
Jennifer has no melee weapon so I opted to use the handgun for her segments (although mastery builds fast so it's pretty good despite the low damage). I avoided the spirits that let you cheese fights (i.e. the Captain with the shadow realm boss) or make them significantly easier (i.e. the projectile blocking spirit that fully blocks back attacks when upgraded), although the eye spirit does let you see the wraith when it goes invisible. I did use the time spell for the advancing wall as my reflexes aren't good enough without it.
The zombie kid isn't a straight up boss fight. You just try to find where they hide in the forest and shoot them when you see them, winning after the third shot. If you don't shoot them fast enough (or go to sleep) they will insta-kill you.
You can take unavoidable damage against the Gorgon if it uses its whirlpool and then its flame breath during it as you won't be able to block all of the flames while spinning.
The very final fight against Malus can't be lost however you can be hit which will stun you (so the fight is done without being stunned).

When Bobby and Penny experiment with magic instead of an after school drug PSA and then end up going on a special kind of trip through several worlds to chase down a magic book and rough it up before Dumbledore gets back from the bar to see what they've done.
This is on normal difficulty. Insane difficulty requires you to complete each world on one life with no healing between segments and all health pickups are removed. I can at least confirm the bosses are the same on insane but don't know if there's anything extra for the final boss and ending.
Overall the game isn't good. Controls are pretty wonky, the level design is pretty bad from being a straight left to right linear grind, there's no secrets to find, some bosses can be cheesed by just staying in the corner, and insane difficulty is particularly insane from expecting the player to complete the game on one life without any healing. There's also a distinct lack of sound effects. I generally like to see the best in games and so tend to not outright bash games but this definitely reminds of games like Gleamlight that folks considered a clone and turned out to not be good on its own merits.

Additionally, there are intruders (or other anomalies) that may be able to kill you if ignored for too long.
It kind of seems like the majority of these are walking or rushing the camera to try for a more "scary"(?) sort of jumpscare instead of the goofier versions in the past. The deaths are just a minor point of the game and the gameplay, as always, is solid. When you lose you can find out what room and type of anomalies were active but not when you win. I wish it had kept the "X out of Y anomalies" format to know if you found them all on a successful run. Overall though, I enjoyed myself and look forward to the next game!
A few of these are unusual compared to previous games. The Hotel level Bar intruder zooms in but nothing happens until you report for the first time. The creature in the Pool level Shower room if ignored attacks you on a different camera. The University Lobby robed guy doesn't spawn until you report the anomaly with his painting.
My thanks to Paulor94 who let me know I did miss the University Courtyard Intruder. You can see its jumpscare at youtu.be/btNRA0b9R3E
I'm pretty sure this is all of them but if I did miss one do let me know!

My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/bnv3V6t twitter.com/CrankyTemplarCursed 2 - All Bosses (No Damage) and EndingsCrankyTemplar2023-08-31 | A compilation of the bosses in Cursed 2 by DisasterSquad beaten without taking damage and using the hammer unless the fight requires otherwise (the sword for the knight and the staff for the finale). After Jennifer was rescued from the cursed mine and came back slightly demon possessed the town has gone to hell with monsters everywhere and a cult sacrificing people to make a new body for the demon Malus. As Jennifer's childhood friend Randall you head to town to try and save Jennifer and stop the cult while also hunting the undead for Death. It's a free to play point-and-click adventure game with combat and horror elements that uses music from other games.
At some point I'd like to try to no hit the Knight with no boosts to strength or speed. With these stats maxed out you can trivialize the first phase and make the second phase easier, particularly since his counterattack can be blocked with max speed (even if you don't see your shield rise in time). The other bosses are less of a concern to no-hit with low stats since a low stat run would use the chainsaw which can trivialize 2-3 boss fights (or two boss fights and a bunch of zombies). Stats also don't matter for the Malus chase or fight since the staff gets no benefit from stats for these fights.
The banshee also can occasionally breathe poison gas which causes unavoidable damage so the only way to complete the fight hitless is for the attack to not be used. Fortunately, it is rare.

Some of these bosses are real damage sponges and I probably should have used the Token of Appreciation rosary bead sooner for the damage boost when all flasks are used. Isidora is by far the hardest of these just for the very evil fireball RNG.
Killing Esdras will lock you out of Ending C but for completion's sake I've included it.
I meant to get this finished and uploaded before Blasphemous 2 released but got distracted by other games. At least it's finally done.

#blasphemous #hitlessAll Enemy Executions in Blasphemous I & IICrankyTemplar2023-08-28 | A compilation of the various executions in both Blasphemous games. I'm pretty sure this is all of them for Blasphemous 2 as most enemies use the generic execution. However, there are a few critters I couldn't get an execution prompt for (including a few enemies from the first game) due to their low HP even with all the stun boosts and minimal damage using the sword.
If I did somehow miss a unique execution for the second game do let me know! Hopefully DLC adds more unique executions to the sequel.
#blasphemous2Blasphemous 2 - All Bosses (No Damage/No Magic) and EndingsCrankyTemplar2023-08-27 | A compilation of all the bosses in Blasphemous 2 being defeated without taking damage and without using magic, in addition to both endings. The rapier gaining extra electricity damage from not being hit makes it overall the best choice for bosses although Svsona and Infanta are highly resistant to it. Combine that with statues that boost damage at full health and when all bile flasks are used and you can get some impressive damage to melt bosses.
Overall a very enjoyable game that was worth the wait. Admittedly, the difficulty wasn't that high and the final boss was overly easy.

#blasphemous2 #hitlessEviterno, First of the Penitents Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-27 | First phase is super easy and the rapier melts him. I originally was trying to parry in phase 2 but felt it safer to just dodge and smack him when his attack ended. There's a pattern to his attacks so it's just paying attention to what you know will come next. Curiously, he doesn't appear to have contact damage which probably makes this fight much easier.
The second phase is an enjoyable fight overall.
His speech isn't skippable but fortunately after your first death he'll only say his last line before starting phase one.

#blasphemous2Svsona, Fermosa Fembra Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-27 | Finally found a boss that doesn't melt to the rapier (in fact, there were points with the rapier I was doing no damage which makes me wonder if the electricity effect changes the rapier attack to purely elemental damage and Svsona is immune). Regardless, damage stacking with the sword works well too.
The boss only has three moves so the entire fight is just not getting greedy with damage.
#blasphemous2Sinodo, Hymn of the Thousand Voices Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-26 | This poor fellow didn't get to do much. I guess all the damage stacking has reached a point where bosses melt once the rapiers power up with electricity. It does try to heal which is annoying if not interrupted but I pretty much skip the other two phases.
#blasphemous2Odón of the Confraternity of Salt Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-26 | This fight felt a bit weird with the parries even if it's pretty consistent for the boss' attacks. Curiously you can parry waves which might not transfer over to real life. The chain lightning resonance makes short work of enemies and does some extra damage to anything alive.
#blasphemous2Benedicta of the Endless Orison Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-26 | I kind of expected the boss to be resistance to the rapier's lightning damage when they use lightning themselves but surprisingly it destroys this boss. Plus having the statues for 10% extra damage at full health and 20% extra damage from using all my flasks makes for more fun damage boosts.
#blasphemous2Afilaor, Sentinel of the Emery Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-26 | Pretty quick and easy once its patterns click.
#blasphemous2Lesmes & Infanta Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-25 | Interesting little duo fight. Lesmes is pretty weak to the rapier and Infanta is weak to the mace so it's using each weapon for P1/P2 and then taking down Infanta in P3 as their attacks are more annoying to dodge.
The flame pillar hitboxes are surprisingly much smaller than they look so you can really get on the edge to hit Lesmes. Also, parrying Lesmes' charge in P3 sometimes resulted in contact damage so it's better to dodge or jump it.
#blasphemous2Great Preceptor Radamés Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-25 | Shortly before I reached this boss I realized I could upgrade my weapons. It's a shame the sword's blood pact hurts you which means the rapier's extra lightning damage from not being hit is likely the way to go for most bosses.
#blasphemous2Orospina, Lady Embroiderer Boss Fight (No Damage / No Magic) in Blasphemous IICrankyTemplar2023-08-25 | Encountered this as my second boss, felt kind of low on damage but it's a good fun to parry throughout the fight. Really fun game so far.
Getting to all the bosses might take a while due to other obligations so I'll likely upload them as I finish and compile them together at the end.
#blasphemous2Telltale The Expanse Episode 3 - Death ScenesCrankyTemplar2023-08-24 | A compilation of deaths in the third episode of Telltale's The Expanse "First Ones".
If you opt to trust instead of fight you'll have no QTEs or deaths for Drummer although Maya was still killed so there must be other choices made that determine whether she lives or dies.
While each episode is short I generally don't intend to replay episodes with different setups, i.e. Cox and Maya still alive. I did replay this chapter to see the trust him choice as blazing through everything was about 25 minutes.

Now for a festival with uncertainty as to which patient will die first for the player punch.

Surely nothing can go wrong, eh?
In the typical style of these games, many things can (and will) kill you including a significant number of very stupid decisions, like eating knives or yeeting toilet paper at monsters.
This just shows a basic path to an ending and actually ends pretty poorly with getting arrested for trespassing. So far, I've found two fatal endings and one in which you're acquitted entirely. A final best ending I haven't found but will try to locate before compiling the deaths and endings.
Overall, definitely recommend this if you enjoy the genre!
My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/bnv3V6t twitter.com/CrankyTemplarCursed 2 - Hardcore Playthrough and New Ending (No Commentary)CrankyTemplar2023-08-23 | Cursed 2 by DisasterSquad received a new update adding a number of extras along with a new hardcore mode that makes the game notably more challenging. You have one life with a cursed ring that slowly drains your HP and the jar can only be filled once with healing juice. Level ups don't heal you and if you die your save is deleted. A new ending is gained for completing the true ending on hardcore.
After a normal run to de-rust I played through and was able to win. However, I grinded significantly to make the knight fight trivial as that's the only fight I wasn't confident with. The few other points that remain difficult are the skull puzzle (if you get bad RNG) and the Malus chase if you don't pay attention and have Jennifer die. Early game is particularly rough since you need level ups to boost your mind stat to use the healing scroll but until several points are invested in mind the healing is really weak and any hits you take can force you to risk the run or wait a long while to heal up.
The ending is truly worth it though.
When I get more time I want to retry after optimizing the route and getting better at completing fights (especially the knight) at lower levels.

#blasphemousTrying for Our Third Boss Cell and Beating the Curse of the Crowbar!CrankyTemplar2023-08-20 | Last time I was able to defeat the Hand of the King on normal and hard, allowing me access to 2BC runs. I went back to normal to try and find some runes (and thanks to folks' suggestions I got the ram rune) and work on beating Dracula (or rather, learn to defeat his final form). I also encountered Conjunctivius but didn't win.
So during the week I'll work on some more practice in the training room for bosses and hopefully this time I'll be able to make more progress on alternate routes and with roughing up the Hand of the King for more boss cells.
And if I'm truly lucky, I won't have a crowbar drop in just about every location.

I received a key some time ago and have wanted to get to this game so I'll be setting aside the night to hopefully play through it in one go (or at least stream enough to finish it off next week).
My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/bnv3V6t twitter.com/CrankyTemplarDeath Quotes in the Demo and Pre-Alpha of Billie Bust UpCrankyTemplar2023-08-14 | A compilation of the various lines for dying during Barnaby's chase and Fantoccio's boss fight. Barnaby comments on a variety of hazards that kill you (and multiple lines for more generic hazards). Interestingly, both Barnaby and Fantoccio have different versions of the same line (or very similar to the same line) with a slight change in delivery, of which I included two or three examples with Barnaby (but also are present with Fantoccio). These are small details that are pretty cool to see.
It turns out there were a few more lines I missed in my initial compilation. The only thing I couldn't die to was the falling bread - it appears to fall when the player is far enough away or when Barnaby reaches it which then counts as contact damage with Barnaby. The guillotine uses the generic death lines and the bells, curiously, I couldn't get to kill me.
