I just wanted to see how the ultra-shortcut from this game compares to Mario Kart 64's TAS. This is by no means an optimized TAS since it was done in GP mode instead of Time Attack. It's very difficult to adjust your angle in the air while Hyper-Speed Side-Attacking so you need to get right angle while you're still on the track. Its flight path kinda resembles that of a boomerang, but keeps gaining altitude.

Looks like it causes you to bounce everywhere, but it also seems to give you a ton of speed on upslopes. This track is still very awkward to drive on since I haven't done a lot of in-game testing.
I'm still figuring out how to use this thing and will continue to test more of my stupid ideas in the future.

This is the infamous run my brother set back on June 2, 2005 with the help of a Lego turbo controller he built that mashes the boost button. It's also the first (and only NTSC) run to sub 1'08 that didn't use the crazy Air Ground Glitch discovered afterwards.
Since F-Zero X is now released on the Switch, I might as well make some old unlisted videos public.

I've known about the Sample Pack Contest series ever since it started back in 2005 on the VGMusic.com forums but never actually entered. I thought the silly jokey vocal samples were too hard to use at the time. After finally entering, I managed to place 1st out of 71 entries! ヽ('ヮ' )ノ This tune originally started as an unfinished 20-second tune I wrote back in May of 2018. It had a weird melody so I had to come up with a new one. For the rest of the song I wrote the chord progression first and then tried jamming out a melody on the keyboard. I had fun extracting usable sounds from the submitted samples and creating that soundscape at the beginning. I also discovered new ways to isolate specific sounds buried within other sounds using AI.

If some of these tunes sound like completely random notes to you, that's because they are. I had zero understanding of what notes were at the time.
For one of STAFFcirc's albums, I was asked to remake my first song or something, but the notes were too random so I gave up and asked for a new prompt. But before I did, I wrote about 30 seconds of music which you can hear at the end (2:06).
My earliest MIDI compositions from 1998-2000 were lost in a hard drive crash. :( These were the songs I was hoping to find because they showed my earliest attempts at making music with actual harmony and rhythm...which I didn't really understand at the time so I ended up doing what I was better at which was recreating video game songs by ear.

It uses HSSA (hyperspeed side attacks) to fly directly to the checkpoints and count a lap. I did it in a few hours so the landings could be better. Because I don't have too much control over the direction during flight I had to make sure to aim the machine in the right direction when leaving the course.

If you're confused, it's basically JKT's White Land 2 reverse TAS, where he completed the entire course facing the wrong direction, but with the rear-view camera button activated and the entire video played backwards to make it look like it's going forward.

This is an old racing game I played way back in the late 90's when I was like 10. And this is a shortcut I discovered back then which exploited this car's ability to turn while airborne. If you tilt this car on its side and then steer upwards, it will start to fly, which you can see after the fast lap. Flight maneuverability is limited so you have to aim your car in the right direction before taking off.
I'm racing against the fastest ghost (played by VIENNA) so you can see how much faster the shortcut is. The ghost has an opening lap of 1'09"74 and a fast lap of 1'09"65.
I did a really sloppy run with this shortcut back in the day using a keyboard and submitted it to QBall's leaderboards. It topped the rankings for a very brief period, then Leadbest, iirc, beat it with my strat. Eventually all of the times for this track using this car were removed from the leaderboards.
This run could probably be a bit faster because I forgot to downshift to first gear in preparation for the second landing in order to make a quicker U-turn. Also I didn't back up all the way to get more speed before starting the lap.
I unintentionally had both the "Record Win7 sound" and "Record external input" boxes checked in FRAPS which caused the weird phasing effect you hear in the video.
Hopefully I didn't ruin the song with too many chords.

It was based on the pause glitch seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19d4FobHHJM except that I tried to use it in an actual run. This speedrun is far from optimal since I didn't spend a lot of time with it--less than 2 hours.
It was done in only 3366 re-records. The majority of the re-records were spent on trying to get the machine to actually go through the wall. It really depends which part of the wall I hit since it won't seem to let me go through when I hit the region of the wall closer to the finish line.
I should also find a better way to make a U-turn so that I don't slam into the walls and unnecessarily drain my energy.

You can edit the parameters for individual points on the AI path to have the CPU behave differently on different parts of the track. This is probably the last tutorial.

The video explains how to make alternate versions to your course. It assumes you have already made a working track with alternate sections to your track laid out.
In your globalsettings.txt you will see a row of 15 GP courses separated into 3 leagues. The first two columns should be left as is. The next two columns are what you are going to be editing. This is where you get to customize the order of your tracks in GP mode.
In column 3, you get to use values 0 through 8 to change the region. (0: Big Blue, 1: Silence, 2: Sand Ocean, 3: Port Town, 4: Death Wind, 5: Red Canyon, 6: Fire Field, 7: Mute City, 8: White Land)
In column 4, refer to the chart below.

You can have alternate versions for your course.
#-0 = "II"
#-1 = "I"

Regions: 0,1,2,6
The track number won't change but you can have alternate versions.

So Port Town 1 would be 3-1, and Port Town II would be 3-0. If you don't plan on making an alternate version for your course leave the value in the last column at 0.
If you look a little lower in globalsettings.txt, you get to customize the order for Practice mode. This one only has 3 columns but it's different from GP settings. Leave column one as is. In column 2, you get to use values 1 through 3, to choose the GP league. In column 3, you get to use values 1 through 5 to choose a track from the league chosen in column 2.

Three people asked for a tutorial so here it is. This tutorial shows how to navigate the editor and make your very own course for those of you dying to create tracks and play them. It demonstrates, very briefly, how to get a playable track in minutes. My first recording exceeded 10 minutes so I recorded another one doing everything a bit faster. I learned the program in less than an hour so it shouldn't be that hard to get used to.

Originally I wanted to make this track very dense like a maze and cover up most of the world map, but I quickly started running out of memory so I threw in some longer and faster sections. I didn't plan out the track design beforehand, but I did try to incorporate sections that would exploit the game's quirks. Most of the time spent was just me struggling with the level editor trying to make a smooth curve. I also maxed out the amount of unique panels and tiles per panel Fuzee could handle. Adding anymore would corrupt the track, so I had to remove just enough parts of the track to get it to export properly.
