で、聴いてのとおり、こんな馬鹿みたいに激しくて暗い曲も無いだろう、と言う曲です。
少年少女十字軍の勇ましさと、大人を信じて騙された無念の塊なのです

そろそろ、ゲーム用曲ばっかじゃなくて、ＨＰで公開できるような曲が創りたくて創りました。
今回は、Midi 版にする気力が無いので、生データそのままで

久しぶりに好きな様に曲を創ってみたんですが、最近、人目を恐れて適当に創れない事が多く、
これでは、セオリーばかりの無難な曲しか創れなくなると危機感を感じたので、思い切って感覚だけで弾いてみました。
結果として、物凄く稚拙なところもありますが、私的には楽しく作曲でき満足です(^^;
（人様に聞かせるようなものではないかも）

絵の場合、ちょっとしたもので落書きってものがありますよね。曲の場合は、なんていえば良いんでしょうか？
私が、ＵＰしてるものはまさに、それなんですよね(^^;（３～４時間作品だし）

いずれ、落曲(落書きのような曲）だけじゃなくて、ちゃんとしたの創るべきですね(^^;

This is "Eastern Strange Discourse" from Highly Responsive to Prayers.

This song is, to me, one of the most historic (well, it's really just old (^^;), so I play it every now and then, such that I've gotten quite used to it.

But when I tried to arrange it, it was pretty difficult. In reality, it's pretty faithful to the original. The original MIDI version (unreleased), as opposed to the FM version. In those days, I was satisfied with just creating a melody that I thought up, so... (^^;

This song was also the opportunity for me to start the Touhou Project and stuff. Since I wanted to create a mix of an eastern and western feel in my songs. It fills me with emotion. Seriously. (Well, maybe not the tune itself, but... (^^;)

この曲は、私の中でもっとも歴史のある（つーか、古いだけ(^^;）曲の一つで事あるごとに弾いてる、もう弾き慣れた曲です。

でも、アレンジし直すとなるとなかなか苦労しました。実はかなりオリジナルに忠実です。オリジナルはＦＭ音源版より前のMIDI版（未発表）で、あの頃は、自分で考えてたメロディが流れるだけで満足だったんですが(^^;

私が東方Project を始めたのもこの曲がきっかけだったりします。東洋風な曲を創りたかったのですしね。感慨深いです。ほんと。（っつー、曲調でもないが(^^;）

I tried again with the mp3. In fact, playing with 8850 does not produce this sound, so be aware. Please also try the mp3 even though you have 8850.

So, I tried to arrange without disrupting the original song too much. or so I think. When I first made this a long time ago I didn't think too much of what sound of the instrument to use, especially in FM, so might have become a totally different song (^ ^ ; I guess I am saying that it is delicious in one way or the other

Rather than the orchestra, it was finished in the feeling that you hear in the rhythmic ensemble. I think I deal with strings of classics better than the guitar strings of rock. No, really.

This is "Peaceful Romancer" from Mystic Square.

Since the song was too different, too, I was eventually had it reworked again.

At the end of the day, this song was my last in composing using FM sound. This is actually where I was going to seal my Doujin activities by the mark of this song, but no matter what I do, I could not wash my hands clean (^ ^;

Since it would have been the last, I was enthusiastically working myself for composing a bright and Eastern song, (^^;; but the arrange ended up with a dark feeling of sadness and apathy. (song was not bright after all)

Anyways, this is a finale ending song where Touhou Project itself lowers its curtains, and is quite emotional. Yes, it's true that this song is quite sad that so few people will ever get to hear it since it cannot be heard unless Extra Stage is cleared (^^;

東方怪綺談より【 Peaceful Romancer 】です。

あまりにも別の曲になりすぎたので、結局もう一度作り直してしまいました。

なんと言っても、私はこの曲を最後にＦＭ音源で作曲をしていません。事実上この曲を最後に私の同人活動も封印したつもりだったんですが、足を洗えぬものよのう(^^;

当時この曲は、最後だから明るくて軽快で東洋風な曲を創ろう、と意気込んで、結局明るくならなかった曲ですが(^^; 、アレンジではどこか切なさすら感じてしまう様な暗めの曲に仕上げました。

とにかく、これは東方Project そのもののエンディング曲の様な物で感慨深いですね。もっとも、エキストラステージクリアしなければ見れない、という見た人少なそうななかなか寂しい曲ですが(^^;

I thought this song would be the biggest mismatch, but it looks like it ended up matching the character. It sounds heavy, but yet the rhythm runs light and smooth.
There's a really hard to explain sort of feel in this song (^^;

I'm guessing this song is the most successful in embodying the character.
Regardless of the midi version, the wav version sounds romantic.
Just kidding, not really.
The holy knight in the song title is, needless to say, Joan of Arc.
She's one wicked highness, who goes well with the catchphrase "Flash sword!"

一番ミスマッチかと思ってたけど、割とキャラにあった曲になったみたい。
重厚そうで実はものすごく軽快なリズムの曲です。
何とも言えない雰囲気が漂ってるなぁ(^^;

　この曲が結果的に一番キャラに合ったのかも知れない。
　midi 版はともかく、wav 版はロマンティックな曲になっています。
　うそ、なっていません。
　曲名の聖騎士とは、言うまでもなくジャンヌ・ダルクのことです。
　「フラッシュソード！」とかいう、足癖の悪い女王様です。

By warrior maiden, I'm referring to the Valkyrie. It's one of the best songs I made

These difficult to remember melody lines are something that I like.

Compared to the one I released during summer, I think this one is less serious.
Pseudoclassic means imitating old traditions. The Cembalo (Harpsichord) is used in this song
to give it a somewhat old and Jazzy feeling.
I'm in preference of writing "ギコ的" over "擬古的". (^^;。
Orphic refers to anything that pertains to Orpheus. It has nothing to do with
the song (Oh).

　この曲は夏バージョンに比べて、大幅にお洒落になったと思う。

　るけどサビなどJazzyな部分もあるのでそうしました。

I don't know if it sounds like a last-boss song, but it's a last-boss song that sounds quite trendy. (^^;

This file was made for the SC-55 Sound Canvas, and it was contributed to ZUN's site back when he was accepting music submissions. The SC-88 and SC-88Pro have compatibility issues with MIDI files made for the SC-55, but this is how ZUN would have heard it.

Mt. Fuji erupting would be scary. The smoke would have many different components to it.
That mountain is rife with impurities...
If that smoke reaches the moon, the moon would become tainted as well.

This is Mokou Fujiwara's theme.
I tried to bring out as much intimidation, power and coolness I could that some shadiness came out. But even if the song isn't shady, the character certainly is.
I always like kicking it old school for the Extra Boss song. This time around I really kicked it.

The real reason why Mt. Fuji wasn't chosen as a world heritage site is because it's so
sacred that even the world could not choose it. Speaking of which, stop littering on it.

This is the Extra Stage theme.
It's kind of relaxed for one, huh?
It feels like a test of courage that wouldn't scare anybody. (No, it doesn't.)

The history of the lunar capital.
The capital on the far side of the moon. A history so long that Gensokyo's can't compare
in the least. And that capital is slowly but surely......

This is Eirin Yagokoro's theme.
Impossible courage, ferocity, and vigor--
This theme combines all of those, making for a ridiculously foolish and energetic song.
All the energy and foolishness culminates in the final boss (really?), so the act itself of putting this song in a shmup is lunacy.
I didn't want to get caged in on a theme for this one.

八意永琳のテーマです。
ありえない程勇ましかったり、激しかったり、爽やかだったり。
一つだけ共通しているテーマは、物凄く馬鹿みたいに元気である事。
元気と馬鹿だけがラスボスの取得なんですから（えー）というか、こんな曲でＳＴＧって言う事自体がルナティック。
表現のテーマは檻に囚われてはいけないと思う。

But the humans continue to travel. Youkai are always left as caretakers, the souvenirs
of the humans' trips.

This is the Last Spell theme.
All it inspires is a frantic feeling. It's seriously fast.
It's the constant repetition of a short phrase that makes it so fast.
That doesn't sound like my kind of morning. (Haha)
Of course, it is fast, but it also has a mysterious kind of nostalgia.

The Japanese Cinderella's hidden cage is such that no matter how hard you try, you
cannot force the princess out. That's the fault of the Kagome.
However, one word from a celestial opens all the doorways.

This is the Stage 5 theme.
Asian, Western, old, new-- This song isn't one or the other. The boss seems that way, too, but the stage itself is based in Japanese horror.
Each song has a theme, and this one's is based on the song "Kagome, Kagome". It's not an arrangement, just composed with a similar theme.
I didn't want to get caged in on a theme for this one.

A neverending night.
The night that the player has tampered with starts to show it's influence on the varied
surroundings. The time for repentance has come.

This is the Stage 4 theme.
This song is an arrangement of the game's title screen theme. It's a nice tune with a very quick tempo.
For the end, I put in a laughing sound, like that of a youkai. However, it's unnatural to hear it where it it should not be creepy.
Altogether, the rhythm is odd. I feel there's a hint of encroaching madness in it.

This is Marisa Kirisame's Theme.
At this point, this song isn't all nostalgic or anything. It's an arrange of an old tune from the second game, Story of Eastern Wonderland.
I was wondering if this theme still suited Marisa, and what shocked me is that it totally did. It's rare to see someone so unchanged.
Marisa has 5 themes, but I think this one suits her best.

This is Reimu Hakurei's theme.
If you're wondering why this theme is nostalgic, it's an arrangement of a song from a few years ago. It's an arranged version of Reimu's Stage 4 boss theme from the fourth game, Lotus Land Story.
The patterns in Stage 4 closely resembles those of Lotus Land Story, so I thought I'd do a similar song and give some people deja vu.
The other theme for this game is "An Old Memory Called Fantasy".

I composed it to be more dazzling than fantastic. Hopefully you'll get the sense of the energetic youkai from the song. In my opinion, when there's a long fight in a shooting game, the music should repeat and sustain its tempo. That is, it should be like this theme.

A high-paced theme (?) which is unusual in the Touhou series. It's obvious from the stage that the tempo and feel are the keys to this song. The tone turns around about 112 degrees in the middle of the song which is where Extra really starts (heh).

The final stage is all about the final boss, so the mid-stage is only a token effort. Because of that, this song is rather short, but it's also refreshing and pleasant (in my opinion). The stage has visual imagery of flying over a sea of cherry blossoms; I hope this song will give you the same impression.

最終面はボスを中心にするために、道中はただのつなぎです。曲もえらく短い曲ですが、割と爽やかで気持ちいい曲です（多分）ステージは、桜の海の上を高速で駆け抜けるイメージを想定していましたが、曲の方もそんな感じになったでしょうか？

I gave this theme an oriental and melodious feeling while making it the "final" song. Having said that, the style of music is my usual fare. (lol) Vehement yet elegant, powerful but ephemeral; I thought I'd make this theme quite emotional.

I tried to give the impression of both "A Tough Opponent" and "Childishness" with this theme. Perhaps this is the most boss-like theme in this game. While it uses guitar, I gave up trying to make it sound like rock music almost immediately. The hook's melody resembles the youkai.

This theme expresses the nostalgia that is deep within every Japanese and the frantic feeling that arises when someone is approaching. The sounds of far-off Shinto flutes and bells conjure up images of the netherworld. Or maybe it's just me?

I tried to make this theme sound like it was being performed brightly and joyfully. A performance by happy-go-lucky sisters who love festivals and anything noisy. At the climax, each of them play their violin, trumpet and keyboard as they please. A veritable hodgepodge.

The style is more Chinese than Japanese. A wonderful place above the clouds. As the true beginning of this game, stage 4 is far longer than the others. There's never been such a stratospheric (it's not that high) intrusion with violent yet sorrowful music, has there? While I composed it with "Journey to the West" in mind, it doesn't resemble that.

This is the rackmount sound module version of the U-20 keyboard, which has an updated version of the U-110 synth engine and the sounds from the SN-U110-08 Synthesizer and SN-U110-09 Guitar & Keyboard expansion cards already included. Due to hardware limitations, only two extra expansion cards/boards can be used at once instead of the four that the previous module was capable of. Some of the sounds from these modules also appear on the CM-64, D-70 and MV-30. Its acoustic instruments were for the most part noticeably better sounding than those from the Korg M1, which made this module very popular among video game music composers.

The sounds from this module were created and edited by Eric Persing's team in the mid 80's. He would also contribute to the extremely popular JV-1080 and SR-JV80 sample libraries in the early 90's, and a few years later found Spectrasonics.

Most of these sounds were getting a little long in the tooth, but they're aren't used often enough for this to be a big deal. It also has a few new poorly programmed ethnic instruments and drums many people didn't like. Most of the new presets are filler SFX and ethnic percussion.

The 8850 is infamous for playing MIDIs from other Sound Canvases (even the 88Pro) incorrectly. If you're interested on listening to other people's work, I strongly recommend you to get the 88Pro instead.
