Road-Tripping Hippie Lands in the Midst of Massive Trump Rally Adventures with Hayeski 2024-05-17 | Like Forrest Gump, I often find myself serendipitously wandering into the midst of various big events, which suits me, as I'm always curious about what's going on in the world and always up for an adventure. So, of course, when on the last leg of my annual spring road trip, I found myself landing in Wildwood, NJ, and discovered that a massive Donald Trump rally was about to take place there, I was thrilled! Although I'm hardly what anybody would call a Trump kind of guy, leaning more toward what might be considered a left-over-from-the-60s hippie peacenik, I found the crowd at the rally to be open and friendly, even to an eccentric outsider like myself. All in all I had a grand old time in Wildwood and managed to have a number of interesting and civil discussions to boot. After a late-afternoon check in at the Four Points by Sheraton, I headed over on foot. I was not disappointed. Flying Etihad Business Class, JFK to Abu Dhabi: Lounges, Gorgeous New Terminal A and More Adventures with Hayeski 2024-02-12 | Flying Etihad Business Class, JFK to Abu Dhabi: Lounges, Gorgeous New Terminal A and MoreJoin me on my latest adventure as I fly from JFK International in New York on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to an overnight layover in Abu Dhabi and experience the Etihad Business Class experience firsthand. Prior to this flight, I had always found it difficult to justify what I considered a huge expense (in this case I paid roughly $3,000 more for the upgrade) for a few hours (almost 13 in this case) of extra comfort. Starting from a less than stellar lounge visit at JFK, to he flight itself, and on to the newly opened Etihad Business Lounge in the also newly opened Terminal A in Abu Dhabi, judge for yourself if you think the expenditure was worth it. Opening in the spring of 1915 as the Waldorf Hotel, it became the posh playground for the the rich and famous, including Charlie Chaplin and Clara Bow, who both held penthouses there. Sumptuously restored a few years ago, the hotel has succeeded in recapturing the romance and luxury it once represented. Experiment with GoPro AI in Fort Lauderdale Adventures with Hayeski 2023-04-12 | Here's my first experience with using GoPro's AI editing software, based on a couple of hours footage from my recent Fort Lauderdale visit distilled down to around four minutes. It's quite different from my usual join-me-for-a-meditative-walk/ride uploads, flashier and a little more frenetic, but also amazing in that the AI edits make sense and are not merely random and chaotic. It seems to favor action β note the volleyball scenes β and often uses repetition of less active clips to give more of a feeling of movement and action. Please let me know what you think in the comments. (This video was originally uploaded on March 29th, but it was unceremoniously and unintentionally expunged when I was trying to delete of draft of my next video and I had to re-upload it. Cemetery Ghost Hunting in a Tesla Model S β Halloween 2022 Edition Adventures with Hayeski 2022-10-21 | Last year around Halloween I began to see videos of Tesla Autopilot software showing pedestrians walking around cemeteries where no actual, in-the-flesh people could be seen. My friend Paul and I decided to see for ourselves this Halloween season whether my new Plaid with full-self-driving beta software would turn up anything. After not having much luck in the first few cemeteries we visited, we hit the jackpot when we visited the Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke, NY, with the dashboard screen clearly showing an assortment of figures standing and walking about although we were the only people (at least still-alive people) in the cemetery at the time. Paul and I discussed our own theories of what this could mean.
