Music from Epidemic SoundCatch up! Week 1 & 2 of home renovations!Lovelygirliebits2024-10-13 | It's time for a catch up and a little recap of week 1 and 2 of my home renovations! And as for my garden, well, let's just say that next year, I'm going to have a ball in there as I'll be starting from a blank slate! But as I keep telling myself, it's fine! And it will be!
Music from Epidemic SoundBye bye garden for 2024! Saving what I can before renovations!Lovelygirliebits2024-09-29 | In today's video, I spent some gorgeously peaceful time in the garden before the madness of the home renovations began! I filmed this a couple of weeks ago, so we're a week down in terms of renovations and I laugh at the notion that I thought I'd be able to work in the garden around the builders!
I'll show you more in the next update video, but it's safe to say that I'm glad I saved what I could in this video!
Music from Epidemic SoundGarden tidy up, harvesting!Lovelygirliebits2024-09-15 | This week I tackled the vegetable beds and gave them a bit of a tidy up before the renovations start on the house. I did some harvesting, too!
Music from Epidemic SoundAutumn vibes in the garden centre and spring bulbs!Lovelygirliebits2024-09-01 | This week, my sister and I visited The Garden House in Malahide for a little peek at the spring bulbs! They had the most gorgeous autumn display there, too and we were in our element, taking our time and trying to remember the name of something!
What spring bulbs are you going to be planting this autumn?
Music from Epidemic SoundGet Ready With Me - life update!Lovelygirliebits2024-08-25 | I wanted to sit down for a little catch up and fill you in on what's been going on recently! I'm sharing the cutest stories about my nephew and use some of my favourite makeup products too! So sit down, grab a cuppa and let's chat and feel free to leave me chatting in the background if you're busy and looking for a bit of company!
Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means that I make a small commission if you make a purchase (and this is what's paying for my greenhouse!)
Music from Epidemic SoundMini garden updates and learnings!Lovelygirliebits2024-08-18 | This week, I go through some of my favourite bits of the garden with some updates and some learnings!
Also, my feathered friend is fine now, he flew off over the weekend, so happy days!
Music from Epidemic SoundMalahide Castle walled garden, fairy trail, butterfly house visit!Lovelygirliebits2024-08-04 | This week, my sister and I took a trip to the Malahide Castle gardens to visit the walled garden, the fairy trail and the butterfly house. Malahide Castle has lots of different events that you can book tickets for and if you're visiting Dublin, it's definitely worth a trip out to it.
It's right beside Malahide village, which has lots of lovely restaurants and has a beautiful beach to wander on, too. But on this day, we were all about the plants! We got lots of planting inspiration and got our steps in as well!
Music from Epidemic SoundGreenhouse research, tackling slugs (again)!Lovelygirliebits2024-07-28 | This week, I started the process of researching the greenhouse I want for the garden, and as I had to drive past Outdoor Living anyway on the way to collect my nephew, it was a sign from the universe to go in and take a look!
https://outdoorliving.ie
I also try to tackle the slugs again and I think they're having their best year ever from what you've all been telling me too! I had a chat with friends this week who are seriously considering getting ducks to keep the slugs at bay and I'm not going to lie, another summer like this one and I won't be far behind them in needing another natural way to get them!
As always, thank you for watching and make sure to like and subscribe if you enjoyed this week's video!
Music from Epidemic SoundSummer in my Irish cottage garden 🥰 #cottagegarden #summergarden #beginninggardening #gardenerLovelygirliebits2024-07-23 | ...Trying again! Garden centre visitLovelygirliebits2024-07-21 | This week, I'm trying again and planting more vegetables for us to be able to eat! I also visited The Garden House in Malahide and picked up a couple of new things, but I was very restrained!
What's been working in your garden recently and what challenges have you had? Let me know!
Music from Epidemic SoundSeeing Monty Don in the rain, garden disaster, new beauty products!Lovelygirliebits2024-07-14 | This week, I hotfooted it over to London to see Monty Don at Kew Gardens and while the weather didn't quite play ball with us that night, we had fun and I learned so much and got tonnes of inspiration for my garden.
I share the latest in a long line of garden disasters this year and share some beautiful new beauty products that have just launched.
Music from Epidemic SoundPlanting lots of summer vegetables, plans for the house & how its affecting my gardening!Lovelygirliebits2024-06-30 | This week I planted out a whole heap of summer vegetables that I bought from Quickcrop and this is something I've done before, when time and space is tight for sowing seeds. Having pre-grown vegetable seedlings like the ones I got delivered are so handy!
Music from Epidemic SoundPlanting, chatting and new build garden updateLovelygirliebits2024-06-16 | This week I tried out something different when filming my video and I'd love to know what you think!
I planted out plants that have been sitting in their pots for far too long on the back wall and both borders and had the chats while doing it and it felt like I was chatting to someone beside me!
I also give a little summer update of my sister's new build garden which is full of colour!
What have you been up to in your garden this week?
Music from Epidemic SoundEco Hideaway trip, planting my summer vegetables!Lovelygirliebits2024-06-09 | In this week's video, I headed away to The Deerstone Eco Hideaway in Wicklow with Dermalogica Ireland to learn more about their new eye cream. I'll be reviewing that over on my beauty Instagram page which I've linked below!
Then I finally got to plant some of my vegetables and had to do it in stages as I was unwell and the energy levels were pretty low. I'm excited to harvest them later in the season!
What have you been doing in the garden lately?
Also, I might be switching my uploading schedule between weekly and fortnightly, just with work bits taking up a bit more time than usual. I'll still be filming every week, just maybe not enough for a full video and I'd prefer quality over quantity!
Music from Epidemic SoundGarden tour in May! Beginner gardener on the way to creating a dream cottage gardenLovelygirliebits2024-05-26 | After being so disappointed and despondent in a recent video with a lack of growth in the garden, over the last couple of weeks, the garden has been coming to life and I wanted to share it in this week's video!
It's so important to enjoy the journey of getting to our dream summer cottage garden, so I'm trying to take stock each month and appreciate everything!
Music from Epidemic SoundBook launch, castle & garden centre visit!Lovelygirliebits2024-05-13 | This week's video involved Catherine and I going to Antonia's Book Shop in Trim, County Meath, for a visit so Catherine could sign some books! And while we were there, we had a wander and saw Trim Castle, too. We finished our day out by heading to the Ratoath Garden Centre which has a beautiful walk at the back of it.
We were supposed to head out together on Sunday, but life got in the way, so apologies for the sudden end to the video!
Music from Epidemic SoundGarden fails so far!Lovelygirliebits2024-05-05 | This year has been such a challenge for those of us who love to garden. Lots of us are having problems with slow seed germination, slow plant growth and a lot is to do with the really wet and cold weather we've been having so far this year.
In Ireland, we've had a few sunny days and in my chats at the end of the video, what I was trying to explain was that for a lot of us, because the weather has been so miserable, we're behind in the garden and on those nice, sunny days, we're not able to fully enjoy them because we're trying to catch up on our gardening jobs as we have to work when it's not super wet! I'd mentioned filming being the issue, but it's not, it's just the pressure to get out and garden when the weather is nice!
But as gardeners, we know we have to adjust what we do, how we garden and trust the process! And that's why I wanted to share my garden fails (so far) and I put those words in brackets because I know I'll have lots more and that's how I learn - from experience.
What's been so heartening this year is you guys leaving me comments, saying that you're also having similar garden struggles, so we're all in this together!
Have a wonderful week and let's send out good vibes that we get some more dry, warm, even sunny weather this week!
Music from Epidemic SoundMy favourite hand care products for gardeners!Lovelygirliebits2024-04-28 | Gardening can be tough on your hands and nails, but fear not, for I've compiled my favourite items to keep even the most rugged hands in great shape!
And as someone who only wears gardening gloves when absolutely necessary, these are my go-to products, now that we're deep into the gardening season!
*Disclosure, I have worked with L'Occitane in the past, but this is not part of any collaboration. I work with Meaghers Pharmacy, but this is not part of the collaboration*
Music from Epidemic SoundNew build spring garden tour, garden centre visit & haul!Lovelygirliebits2024-04-21 | This week, we're touring my sister's new build spring garden, showing what she's planted from borders to raised vegetables. We'll film again in the summer to see the growth and progress and to see if they let me dig a new border! But if you want to see their garden last summer in its glory, I'll link the video below.
I also went to The Garden House in Malahide for a little peek at what they had and ended up coming back with some essentials (for me!) as the seed germination hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped this year so far.
But I'm ready to open my own tomato farm now at this point!
What are you going to be doing in the garden this week?
Music from Epidemic SoundSo behind in the garden! Spring colour, sowing seeds and planting summer bulbsLovelygirliebits2024-04-14 | Who else feels like they're totally behind when it comes to their garden? With a mix of rubbish weather and lots happening behind the scenes, the days and weeks are flying by! But this week, I'm starting small and ticking off things on my garden list.
See how the spring bulbs are blooming beautifully and see what I'm sowing and planting!
Music from Epidemic SoundSpring garden tidy up, setting up hot bin composter, spring growth!Lovelygirliebits2024-03-31 | This week, I spent time tidying up one of the borders and setting up my hot bin composter that was gifted to me by Quick Crop. You might remember me mentioning them a couple of years ago when I bought plants for the border I'm tidying up in this video. I'll link that video below because I explain how they have planting plans which are perfect for the new gardeners out there!
Music from Epidemic SoundMaking free plants! Come to the park with meLovelygirliebits2024-03-17 | This week, I bring you to the park with me and show you some of my favourite sections of it! This is St Anne's Park in Raheny and on days where it's sunny, it's extra magical.
I also decided to try my hand at propagating roses and verbena after seeing Anya the Garden Fairy showing it on her Instagram and in her book, so stay tuned and see if it works!
Finally, spring is happening in the garden and with the constant grey days that we've been having here in Ireland, those little pops of colour and new shoots bring hope that brighter, sunnier days are coming.
Music from Epidemic SoundSowing my first seeds of 2024! Beginner gardener friendlyLovelygirliebits2024-03-10 | This week, I finally got to sow my first seeds of the season and if I could bottle the joy it gave me, I would! I wanted to show you what I use to sow my seeds and make it easy for a beginner gardener to follow along.
It can be daunting and overwhelming when starting to garden, so each week, I'll be breaking down what I'm sowing, planting and working on in the garden, so make sure to subscribe!
Music from Epidemic SoundEasy seeds to sow for beginner gardeners!Lovelygirliebits2024-03-03 | Today, I'm giving you inspiration on what seeds you can sow this year that are perfect for beginner gardeners! I'm only speaking about seeds I've sown myself, so I'm sure there are lots more that we can sow this year!
What seeds to you find easy to sow? Let me know in the comments and we can all check out the recommendations and sow along together!
Music from Epidemic SoundAntique shopping, seed sprouting and spring colour in the garden!Lovelygirliebits2024-02-25 | This week I'm bringing you to two vintage/antique shops here in Dublin!
Music from Epidemic SoundRoad trip, bee chats, bulb and seed haul!Lovelygirliebits2024-02-18 | This week, I took a road trip to Altamont Gardens in County Carlow with Catherine and of course, we had to stop off on the way down in a garden centre! See what summer bulbs I picked up in the Arboretum in Carlow and what seeds I bought too, learn about bees from @DaintyDiaries and see why a trip to these beautiful gardens are a must, whether you're bringing a camera with you or not!
Music from Epidemic SoundFebruary garden update - new garden purchases!Lovelygirliebits2024-02-11 | This week seems to have brought more colour into the garden as the spring bulbs start to bloom! I show you a few new purchases, along with purchases I forgot! Since filming this video, I showed Catherine what I'd bought her, so the secret is out!
We're so close to spring, I can feel it! Is there anything starting to bloom in your garden? And are you in any way surprised I bought seeds and forgot about them?!

Music from Epidemic SoundSeed Swap with Catherine!Lovelygirliebits2024-01-21 | Last week, @dain and I got together to have a chat and do a seed swap! Exchanging seeds is a great way of saving money and experimenting with seeds you might not have bought.
Just make sure that the seeds you're swapping are in date, write the names on an envelope and when to sow them and you're good to go! You can even take photos of the front and back of the seed packets and save them in a folder on your phone.
But the main thing is to sit down and have the chats with a friend! Happy seed swapping!
Music from Epidemic SoundNew Year chats, books I bought and video plans for 2024!Lovelygirliebits2024-01-14 | Happy new year to you all! Today, I'm chatting about the newest member to our family, my words of the year for 2024 and I show you some gardening books I bought too!
I'm excited to get planning for the garden this year and this week, Catherine and I filmed together, so stay tuned for that next weekend!

Music from Epidemic SoundGet to know me 🥰Lovelygirliebits2024-01-09 | ...Finally planting my spring bulbs!Lovelygirliebits2023-12-12 | I finally got around to planting my spring bulbs for next year after the busiest few weeks and while I was delayed in planting them, it's better late than never!
I can't wait to start to see the first signs of growth with the bulbs and look forward to a spring full of colour next year!
Did you plant your spring bulbs and if so, what bulbs did you plant?
Music from Epidemic SoundColour in the November garden, prepping for bulb planting!Lovelygirliebits2023-11-12 | This week, I prepped for bulb planting, but it didn't go quite according the plan! C'est la vie! But I'm still enjoying colour in my garden and it's November! So long may that last!
Have you planted your bulbs? I planted all of mine at the very end of November last year, so I'm not too worried about them being a bit late this year too! It'll be fine!
Music from Epidemic SoundHometree weekend with LOccitane, cottage garden centre & bulb shopping!Lovelygirliebits2023-10-22 | I'm excited to share our trip to County Clare with L'Occitane to volunteer at Hometree Charity. I was lucky enough to go on the press trip last year too, so it was great to see what's changed over the last 12 months.
We also discovered Cottage Garden Centre after a quick Google to see if there were any garden centres on our way to the hotel! instagram.com/cottagegardencentre
Music by Epidemic SoundChristmas in the garden centre, clearing out the veg beds and finally planting my barrels!!Lovelygirliebits2023-10-15 | This was a busy week in the garden as I finally cleared out the vegetable beds, ready to do something different with them! I planted up my barrels and @DaintyDiaries and I got to see the Christmas display from The Garden Centre in Malahide too! And the best part was we were able to visit all of the plants too with nobody else there!
What spring bulbs are you planting this year, ready for a gorgeous display next year?
Music by Epidemic SoundPreparing for the storm & harvesting from the garden!Lovelygirliebits2023-10-01 | This week, I had to prepare for Storm Agnes which hit us on Wednesday and I harvested some vegetables and picked some flowers from the garden too. I love that there's still so much colour outside and that we survived the storm!
Music from Epidemic SoundAutumn colour in the garden & cuttings update!Lovelygirliebits2023-09-24 | I'm very proud of myself for not succumbing to temptation and resisting the urge to buy all of the things in The Garden House in Malahide on a recent visit! But in the interest of autumn garden inspiration, I filmed some clips there to see you what you could pick up to add lots of autumn colour.
I decided to film a little garden update as it's been a while and showed all of the pops of colour in the garden along with my cuttings updates! Which ones made it and which ones didn't?
Music from Epidemic SoundSeptember Chit ChatLovelygirliebits2023-09-17 | We're back together having all of the garden (and random) chats! I went over to @DaintyDiaries this week on a miserable rainy day to film where we chatted about our summer learnings, some garden plans for the future and went off on many tangents as we do best!
What were your learnings from the summer and what are your plans for the garden this autumn or for spring next year?
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygardenybitsMaking my own art from the garden! Microwave flower pressing, hammering flowers, printing with leaves!Lovelygirliebits2023-09-10 | This week, I tried something completely different for me and made my own art with flowers from the garden! I tried my hand at flower pressing using the microwave, I gave hammering flowers a go and attempted to print with leaves from the garden!
As I shared in the video, I loved the process of this just as much as the finished outcome and it was lovely to put on some music, switch off and be creative for a few hours. I'd totally recommend it!
Have you tried creating anything with flowers or greenery from the garden?
Music from Epidemic SoundHarvesting vegetables from the garden & seeing the garden up close in macro!Lovelygirliebits2023-09-03 | I'm so happy to be back filming in the garden this week, although the energy levels are nowhere near where they should be! And the day after I filmed on Wednesday, I got super sick again, but I'm on the mend now.
This week I finally harvested some vegetables from the garden! This year has been so slow in terms of growing and ripening and we have the weather mainly to thank for that, but I'm sure my neglect over the last month hasn't done the garden any favours either. But I pruned my tomatoes, harvested some potatoes and took my new macro lens outside to capture some of the beauty up close.
Thank you for all of the kind messages and well wishes over the last few weeks. I really appreciated them and thank you for your patience. While we're heading into autumn, the work in the garden isn't finished yet. Instead, it's only beginning in preparation for next Spring!
Have you been harvesting anything from your garden recently?
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygardenybitsPropagating plants - taking cuttings to make free plants!Lovelygirliebits2023-08-13 | This week, I tried my hand at taking cuttings in an attempt to save money, become more sustainable and make some free plants from the ones I already love!
If you'd like to join me in propagating plants this year, follow along and let me know what plants you're taking cuttings from in the comments!
And if you have any experience with making free plants, feel free to share in the comments so that everyone can learn!
I also chat through what seeds are starting to take shape in the garden and this year, I'll be making a big effort to save as many seeds as I can so I don't spend lots of money on all the seeds next spring! (Famous last words!)
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygirlybitsProvence vlog - Forcalquier market, lavender fields - visit the South of France with me!Lovelygirliebits2023-08-09 | I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Provence in the South of France with one of my all-time favourite brands, L'Occitane, on a press trip where we had the chance to meet some of the growers of their ingredients.
I was working with them in a paid capacity for Instagram, but this vlog is not sponsored. I couldn't help filming extra content on here!
And towards the end of August, I'll have more content on Jean-Pierre Jaubert on Instagram!
On the trip, we stayed just outside of the town of Forcalquier, where we visited the market, visited the lavender fields of Valensole, did an outdoor wellness session under a beautiful tree, which was magic! We took a trip to the almond grove, also in Valensole before having an amazing opportunity to tour the labs in L'Occitane where we couldn't film much, but learned a whole lot more about the brand and products too.
Learning about how much L'Occitane respects the environment and biodiversity was incredible, and seeing how that passion extends through their growers, into the ingredients, was something I'm so lucky to have been a part of. And I've already taken on board some of the learnings in my garden too!
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygirlybitsSeagull drama/Free plants/Greenhouse plans!Lovelygirliebits2023-08-06 | While I fully understand that humans are the cause of issues with seagulls, please see what it's like trying to film (and sleep) with them causing a ruckus all day at the moment! I promise I won't moan about them in next week's video, but you might end up seeing more music/VoiceOver style videos until then!
Anyway, in this week's video, I did more tidying up, pruning and am in the process of growing myself some free plants! I also chat about my plans and dreams for a greenhouse out the back which would serve a few purposes, so it's time to get busy with a vision board and make it happen!
Thanks so much for watching and if you're also being tormented with seagulls at the moment, I feel your pain!
Music by Epidemic SoundAllotment visit, buying autumn vegetables, lots of summer colourLovelygirliebits2023-07-23 | This week's video was filmed over a few days, after unexpectedly coming across a local allotment that was open to the public! I had a great look around to get inspiration for growing our my veg and was influenced to buy some autumn vegetable plugs to kick off the next phase of growing.
I also bought one plant, no flowers! But this one called to me and I fell in love at first sight and I think we're going to be very happy together!
I also did some deadheading, which I find to be really therapeutic and I filled up some of my mini bud vases too.
What have you been up to in the garden recently? Are you going to be growing autumn vegetables?
Music by Epidemic SoundPruning & planting! Getting the vegetable beds under control!Lovelygirliebits2023-07-16 | This week I gave the tomato plants the first prune after not being in the garden for a couple of weeks! I had a tomato forest happening, so by removing the lower leaves to allow air to circulate and removing the suckers to help the plants send their energy to producing fruit, I'm excited to see how they grow.
I also planted out all of the plants that had been sitting on the patio table for ages and took on board some of the learnings from my trip to France last week with L'Occitane and I chat about that too.
My jewel border is finally blooming and I have so many more ideas for it, so stay tuned for that!
What have you been up to in the garden this week and most importantly, do I need new flowers for the cottage garden in containers?
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygirlybitsNew build garden tour with my sister & brother-in-law!Lovelygirliebits2023-07-09 | A couple of weeks ago, I visited Joanne and Will, my sister and brother-in-law for an official tour of their garden. They bought a new house a couple of years ago and last year, had a landscaper come to work on it before filling it with plants. New build gardens are notoriously hard to work with as the soil generally isn't that good, but they've turned it into something beautiful and I can't wait to see how it develops over the years.
If you have a new build garden, this video might give you some ideas to help your outdoor space look just as beautiful as Joanne and Will's!
If you'd like a video on succulents, let me know and I'll try to convince Joanne to do one with me!
Come find me on Instagram! http://instagram.com/lovelygirlybitsJune Garden TourLovelygirliebits2023-07-02 | This week's video is as much for me as it is for you! I wanted to film a garden tour at the halfway mark of the year so when it's in the depths of winter, I can watch it back and see what the garden was like!
I'm showing what's in bloom in the cottage garden border, the cottage garden in containers, the vegetable beds and the border that I've nicknamed The Jewel Border! There's still a lot of work to do and I've got so many plans, and still plenty of time this season to get some of them done!

Music: Epidemic soundChit chat with Catherine, June cottage garden tour, gardening for wellnessLovelygirliebits2023-06-25 | In this week’s video, we’re back with another Chit Chat episode with Catherine! Catherine gave us a tour of her cottage garden and we sat and had chats about gardening for wellness, anxiety, with a few laughs thrown in.
