Big pharma offers a solution to growing depression but with it comes with adverse side effects.
Drugs, whether legal or not, only seem to stoke the anxieties of addiction and depression that seem to be a growing part of our lives.
Is there an alternative to this, a more proactive nature based therapy or immersive experiential. One that is far more effective than the more reactive medication route that has been failing many for so long?
There is a steady rise in people battling mental health issues and who are turning to ecology, psychedelics and plant based medicines rather than the traditional prescription drugs.
We are in the middle of an epidemic of disconnection from ourselves, others, and the natural world. Perhaps a seismic shift is now needed to address these issues and that a carefully facilitated psychedelic journey might be a real alternative.
Dr Rosalind Watts is a clinical psychologist and the founder of ACER Integration. Her contributions to the field of psychedelic therapy are numerous and include the development of the the ACE model ‘Accept, Connect, Embody’, which has been used in clinical trials of both psilocybin and DMT, as well as the Watts Connectedness Scale, which is a psychometric tool for measuring outcomes of psychedelic therapy.
Dr Watts is the former clinical lead on the Psilocybin for Depression trial at Imperial College London, and sits on the clinical advisory board of the Usona Institute.

Tickets - dandelion.earth/e/connectednessIndependent Indigenous - A short on the struggles and triumphs of indigenous communitiesLOVE IT TV - Nature, health, ethics and the arts2023-06-05 | Independent Indigenous is a feature documentary film that aims to build bridges between indigenous minorities and shed light on the struggles and triumphs of indigenous communities in different parts of the world. The film follows the stories of two remarkable women: one from the Guna people in San Blas, Panama, and the other from the Sámi people in the North of Scandinavia.
The Guna people have been independent since 1925, living in their own territory with their own rules and laws, governed by their own congress of the Guna community in Panama. On the other hand, the Sámi people are still struggling to protect their territory, making them victims of ongoing colonization.
Through their stories, "Independent Indigenous" delves into the importance of independent territory for indigenous people, cultural preservation, roots, and indigenous autonomy. The documentary aims to raise awareness about these critical issues and make a meaningful impact by advocating for the rights and autonomy of indigenous communities.
They are currently seeking opportunities for distribution and/or partnerships with organizations or individuals who share their vision and values. If you want to support the project check this link:

Covid has been the all-consuming topic of 2020.
As we emerge from the pandemic, we will have a unique opportunity to reflect on how consumerism itself is at the heart of all our global crises.
It is essential that this issue is not lost in the ‘fog of war’ over Covid and party politics. It is not enough to resume ‘business as usual’ in the face of growing evidence that we must tackle global heating; addressing what and how much we consume is an urgent priority for individuals, corporations and governments, in our response to the crisis of consumerism that threatens the planet.
Join George Monbiot on a live stream involving a talk and interactive Q and A with the audience, music from Mobius Loop, singing from Tallulah Rendall, an animation from the Tree Sisters and a talk from author, speaker and facilitator Mac Macartney. Other content to be confirmed next month.

Tool handles break. In the Old World most people would have gone and bought a new tool and thrown the old one away. The new one be ludicrously cheap because it was mass produced with poor materials and exploited workers. In the New World in which people have had ‘corona-time’ to think about what’s valuable, putting a new handle on that old tool becomes empowering, cost effective and environmentally the right thing to do. This short video aims to encourage people to have a go, with as few tools as possible. Challenge gender stereotypes, challenge yourself: mend that handle. (P.S. I regret my choice of shoes – we started filming and I forgot to change to my strong garden boots – I am not recommending a callous attitude to safety).

#digforvictory / Why should I grow my own food?
Health. Growing food is good for our mental and physical health. Working with your hands in the fresh air is great for the body and the mind. Connecting to nature and the earth is very grounding!
Making food. As we have all learnt in the past few weeks our food supply chain is very fragile. In these challenging times it makes perfect sense to reduce our reliability on the very delicate food chain.
Sickness and Isolation. Growing food means people can stay at home for longer, eat their own food, have something fun to do and reduce their contact with others.
Supporting the local economy. Growing foods means we can give food to friends, reduce spending and contribute to building local community and economies.
Money. It's good for the bank balance. With so many people out of work growing food makes perfect sense.
Education. It is far easier to engage and educate children and young adults when you are working with your hands.
Everyone can grow food. We are not saying that food is going to run out but having a few salads and edibles in your garden or windowsill is a brilliant idea! Everyone can enjoy creating stuff that they can actually see grow, nurture and eat!

#digforvictory - A series of free to watch videos for those wanting to grow food.
This video looks at how best to prep your beds before we plant out later in the year.
Why should I grow my own food?
It's good for the bank balance. With so many people out of work growing food makes perfect sense
Growing food is good for our mental and physical health. Working with your hands in the fresh air is great for the body and the mind. Connecting to nature and the earth is very grounding!
Making food. As we have all learnt in the past few weeks our food supply chain is very fragile. In these challenging times it makes perfect sense to grow some food and reduce our reliability on the very delicate food chain.
Sickness and Isolation. Growing food means people can stay at home for longer, eat their own food, have something fun to do and reduce their contact with others.
Supporting the local economy. Growing foods means we can give food to friends, reduce spending and contribute to building local community and economies.
Education. It is far easier to engage and educate children and young adults when you are actually making stuff happen with your hands. If you need to stay indoors for a week or two then why not use it as a time to learn, have some fun and make something that is good for you and the family.
Everyone can grow food. We are not saying that food is going to run out but having a few salads and edibles in your garden or windowsill is a brilliant idea! Everyone can enjoy creating stuff that they can actually see grow, nurture and eat!
