Star Fox - Main Theme (Orchestral Remix) GlitchmanVGM 2023-02-22 | 30 years ago, Star Fox was released for the Super Nintendo in Japan. It was a game way ahead of its time that blew the minds of many, for it was the first SNES game to make use of the Super FX chip, capable of producing 3D environments! It went on to become a franchise beloved by young and old alike. Here's an orchestral remix of the original Main Theme that plays during the ending credits!Oh yeah, I know electric and acoustic guitars don't typically form part of an orchestra, but I wanted to try something different! 😆 I think it works anyway! 🎶🎸I'm a huge fan of this particular theme. I personally think that the main melody hook used here is one of the most beautiful melodies ever created in gaming. It baffles me why they didn't continue using it in the following Star Fox games. I think it wasn't until Star Fox Zero came out that we got to hear this melody again in a Star Fox game.You may have noticed that this video is in 4K 60FPS! Star Fox Assault - Epic Cinematic Trailer (4K) GlitchmanVGM 2022-11-16 | What if Star Fox Assault were a movie? This is the inspiration behind this video. I wanted to recreate what a modern movie trailer for Star Fox Assault might look like if it were released in theaters in 4K. And the result is this. Watch on a 4K display with headphones or good speakers for the best experience!This project was... huge, to say the least. My biggest project ever. If you want to hear the details, read on. This might be long. 😅It wasn't just a matter of editing a couple of clips and calling it a day. I had to record tons of gameplay footage from Dolphin with several graphics modifications in order to get it to look high definition, and in true widescreen with the use of a special gecko code. This took me a while to get working correctly, and even then it didn't work all the time, so every time Dolphin crashed, I would have to start over.Not only that, but I also had to do some serious digging around for an AR code that would disable the background music in the game so that only the SFX and character voices would play, and then I could layer my own music in the video editor. And all this on limited hardware!Oh, but did you know that the story cutscenes in this game have only a single audio track?? That means there's no way to "mute" just the music in the cutscenes. 😳"But Glitchman, doesn't that mean you would have to add all the SFX and voice clips manually in post?" you ask. And the answer is... yes.That's right. I had to go through over a THOUSAND audio files from the game in order to find the SFX and voice clips I wanted. Almost every SFX and voice clip you hear in this video was added back in post. Fortunately, the dedicated Star Fox fans over at Krystal Archive had already sorted and named most of the audio files. It was just a matter of finding the correct ones, including many files with generic names like "bang." 😆I gotta take this moment to give a big thanks to @krystalarchive for going through the painstaking work of upscaling the individual uncompressed cutscenes to a stunning 4K resolution, frame by frame. It's amazing what a dedicated fan base is capable of when they work together. :)Regarding the music, I produced two new remixes to debut in this video: Star Fox Main Theme and Corneria DnB Remix. Only a fraction of these remixes are heard in this video, but full versions will come in the future. I also licensed a track from Audiomachine, who are known for making epic trailer music. The track I used is called "Watch the World Burn". It really gives the feeling of coming together to battle against a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. I thought it was a perfect theme for the Aparoid invasion saga. (Fun fact: this track was also used in the Aquaman extended trailer, which is where I first heard it! 🎶)So there you have it. Over three months of work, including multiple setbacks, bugs, and workarounds due to working on limited hardware.
