Lumanoi Hand Detection Voria Labs 2024-09-16 | This video shows off the interactive feature of a Lumanoi interactive light sculpture. This simple visualization shows an "inverse shadow", lighting up the cells under your hand (or anything else that can reflect light).The algorithm used here is a bit complicated, but the gist of it is that it measures the amount of infrared light that bounces off of your hand between adjacent cells: so infrared light is emitted from one cell, bounces off of your hand, and is then measured by the cells around it. Each Lumanoi light sculpture has about 50 of these boards, and they each need to be tested before installation.The microcontroller on the jig is a Raspberry Pi Pico, which is running Micropython.
